  Economy?

  has the supposely slowed down economy affected you or do you find yourself having all the money you need and your job holding up well?

  do you own or rent?.

  Has the supposely slowed down economy affected you or do you find yourself having all the money you need and your job holding up well? Do you own or rent?

  If you needed a new car , or wanted to take a trip could you do so? Do you still go out to eat at nice places or do you have at home?

  Would you be in worse shape if you stayed a JW, using all your gas up driving around the country, going to assemblies, contributing at the Hall, buying literature etc.?

  Living Alone - Love it or Loathe it?

  well i have been living alone now for a week for the first time in about 6 years and apart from one or two minor episodes i am really really enjoying the freedom of it.

  i feel like a weight has been lifted.

  i feel free again - a tiny bit lonely at night - but mostly i think i've recaptured that long lost spring in my step.

  Even if you are married and love your spouse very much it is good to have some alone time each day/week. Sometimes I have to be gone for a few days and likewise my wife and I look forward to them 'breaks' even though my wife and I love each other's company and conversation.

  Should I wait to be questioned by the elders? or take my leave in advance?

  hi everyone, i recently joined this forum as i'm close to being df.

  i am suppose to meet with a judical committee soon but was thinking that i don't want to go through those personal questions that i'm sure the elders would ask.

  does anyone know, is it better to just tell the elders before, say like on the phone, that i want to be df and not go through the committee?

  Did you ever play 'Hide & Seek'? Sometimes thats fun!

  I don't think you gave enough details for any to tell you advise. How much of your family are JW's? Wife? I don't think I would tell them to DF me, nor confess any sin to them. Just ignore them at best.

  in the wake of richard dawkins bestseller 'the god delusion' (which i and many others here have read) there has been a good deal of rebuttal from the 'faith' community.

  now a new book is out published by alister mcgrath, professor of theology at oxford university.

  it is entitled 'the dawkins delusion'.. has anyone read it or ordered it yet?

  nothing is ok. everything is problematic..... what if you stumble someone???--------.

  let's say you want to invite someone over, you gotta worry about someone thinking your favoring this one over another.

  you might be accused of having "cliques".

  Why is everything wrong? Because, like the Jews, they have an unwritten Talmud in tradition that constantly changes and the bottom line like others have said is 'Control'! Try doing something normal like mowing your yard on a Saturday morning, or owning a 2 dr. family car, or?...................insert thousands of things here....

  Something is in the basement...

  this morning i was doing my typical sunday morning routine, which consists of pretty much nothing, and went to the kitchen for a coffee.

  i noticed that one of my cats was sitting next to the basement door which was an odd place for the cat to be sitting but i didn't give it a second thought.

  a bit later i went to refill my coffee cup and the cat was in the same place.

  i have read of some people's bitterness because they were denied the opportunity to go to college.

  during the 60's and 70's the society really discouraged any education other than what was necessary.

  since the end was so near, especially around 1975, anybody that decided to go to "higher education" was considered very weak and unbalanced.

  I'm upset that I didn't finish 'High School'! But then, as my mother said, "You should quit and get some jobs ready for the college guys when they get out"! So, I did!
