Society in general, or "The Society?" Is it called that anymore?
In "The Society" it is always the womans fault.
55 year old woman gets disfellowshipped for having sex with a 15 year old boy.
isn't that child abuse?
does society in general see this different if the abuser is a woman?

i think simon should have a button we can push with a "stupid" sign on it.

Hi Beck,
Sorry about the arrows, it was e-mailed to me that way, and since I was raised in the troof, I feel very blessed I know how to turn a computer on. ( We weren't allowed to turn anything on until marriage..wink wink )
As far as the spaghetti thing, definatly tell him to tell the truth.
All of us Italians know how hard it is to gather spaghetti, especially when harvesting season is in the monsoon months of July in Sicily. It's a horrendous job, but someone has to get that spaghetti out of the ground before it goes al dente.

my jw neighbor just waved "hi" to me from her driveway so i went ahead and bit.
i hollered "my washer just broke down" (i was carrying a load to my other neighbors washer).
Elderly you say?
Maybe she forgot you da'd yourself.
Or maybe she just wanted to see your dirty laundry aired.

I am completely SHOCKED!
Local news just reported this morning that the man suspected of killing his wife and three children on the Oregon Coast, was a recently disfellowshipped Jehovah's Witness. His name is Christian Longo.
He is still at large, and "America's Most Wanted" is headed out to Oregon to film an episode to help bring him to justice.
I was half awake when the news story started, but BOLTED awake when I heard this part. I am, quite frankly, still in shock.

Thats terrible.
Happens often here, but never a JW involved of course.
He must be a bit looney in the head. Its just a shame people do stupid things and bring reproach on Jehovahs name.
Though i hope they stressed "EX" Jehovahs Witness.

They did indeed stress that the man had been "excommunicated" from "the religion".
However there was apparantly some question as to whether or not the anguish of the disfellowshipping was somehow involved. Apparently, it was not something that was a long time past but just recently done.
I'm concerned as to how that will be portrayed when it comes down to the recreation on America's Most Wanted.

I just read an article on it. It states Longo was disfellowshipped in the summer of 2000 because of legal problems.

In another article I saw, it mentioned that he was disfellowshipped in Michigan. (Thanks Bunky)

Thank you so much for that clarification!
I guess the DFing was not as recent as the local news made it seem.

Local news has a knack for pointing out minor things as major. oh well what are ya gonna do. Just goes to show that when people leave the truth they really LEAVE THE TURTH. Just about everyone I know that has been DF'd never just puts a foot in the world, but leaps headlong into it like a swan dive into an empty swimmingpool. Sad but true......

I know a family here who were like all pioneers, millions of hours in the field, kids gave talks like they where professional presenters etc. etc.
The whole family was DF'd (those who were baptised) and I heard last week that a family member (also a Witness) went to their house and they had a HUGE Christmas tree, christmas lights everywhere and loads of presents under the tree.
Now how can people sit there in that house - and not be bugged to death by the consience? Because they MUST know its wrong.

Sometimes some folks just couldn't care anymore. Compromising acts no longer bother their conscience. Sad, indeed ...

hi folks, .
last week i made a monumental decision; i decided to tell my mother-in-law that we are in a cult.
i just could not keep it in anymore.
Why don't you try wiping with some of it Fred?
Maybe some of the message will sink into your brain.
the funny thing about it is, it's not far from the truth.. .

THIS PROGRAMME WAS SPONSORED BY E.A.S. (elders against stress) a small group of dedicated yet stressed
out elders whose goal in life is to get enough time to sleep, study, prepare meeting parts and to recognise
at least 60% of their families by sight.
in reading recent threads from scumgrief and yoyo... they are happy and active and are defending the organization.
i just had a thought of what jesus said that in coming to him and the truth, one might lose brothers or sisters or mothers, etc., but in doing so, they would gain him and an abundance of other "family".
(paraphrased of course!
That is a very good thought JBean. <ignoring fed up>
I know all my years of being a Witness, when work mates and associates found out I was one, they respected that. They also respected my beliefs on the holidays, birthdays, voting etc. The witnesses have little or no respect, and no boundries. And would leave their mother, father, sisters and brothers and their cats, dogs birds and fish to rot, if it meant getting one extra day of eternal life for their little selfish selves.

Oh wait, I forgot, the society is based on spying. How else can they keep the congregations clean? And don't forget the joy in busting someone. Praise the Lord!
