WHERE THE CHILDREN PLAY
by OUTLAW inin this part of the country,i live in the bible belt(lucky me).anyway i`m driving down the street and there is church after church after church(they all have lots of windows)..ect..in the church parking lots are kids playing, road hockey, skate boards, roller blades, you name it they were playing it.laughing, having a good time, enjoying their lives.apperently the churchs dont mind the neighborhood kids playing in their yards.up the road on the same street is the kingdom hall.no windows, parking lot barecaded off with a chain link fence and large gate.the kids were playing in all the church yards but not this one, they were`nt welcome.i saw a couple of kids come out of the hall but they didnt look like they were having fun.some times life plays out in front of you and the truth is there for all to see.

JW Youth- Harshest Rules Ever
by metatron inwitness parents wring their hands, cry in their pillows and mumble.
remarks about satan's influence "in these last days.".
they are told that the world is getting worse and worse.. they are told that temptations are no different than they've ever been.. wrong!

How many do you know like this?
by crownboy ina bethelite brother gave a public talk at our hall a couple weeks ago.
one part of the talk focused on "putting kingdom interest first".
he gave examples of how some gave up material comfort so they could pursue the ministry.

LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER
by You Know inperhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

On shunning
by joelbear inon shunning.. the watchtower basically points to two reasons to shun people:.
1) it will make the wrongdoer think about their course of life and help them to come back to "the truth".. 2) it will protect your faith in jehovah and will keep you from being stumbled.. i think there are really 2 other reasons.. 1) fear of being shunned themselves for associating with you.. 2) to punish you for not thinking or being like them anymore.
kind of a revenge thing.

Zero Tolerance Versus Namby Pambying.
by Englishman ini don't humour jehovah's witnesses anymore.
i don't care if they label me 'apostate' or whatever, it's just great to be completely open and honest whenever i come across one.. "what do you think of this business with the wtbts being part of the un, eh?
" causes some consternation.. "that whole generation thing being tied into 1914 turned into a real farce, didn't it?

Watchtower style architecture
by sleepy inso was it just me or are the architectual designs of kingdom halls absolutely bland and uninspiring?.
i suppose it just like the pictures in the mags middle of the road and all that.. if there was a new system and the watchtower society had control on thing i wonder if they would insist on standardised designs .. 3 or 4 designs for each country to chose from.. if you think that is far fetched that is exactly the policy they have today for kingdom hall design.
there are several predesigned stadardised halls to chose from.
