  Hmm I might have put auxiliary pioneer under MS especially as now half the cong can be called auxiliary pioneers just by writing 30 hours on their reports.

  And missionary is in the right place if you're referring to the 'special' few who got selected for Gilead but self-assigned 'need-greaters' would come in just above regular pioneers (I know a few who've gone to serve where the need is nicer and actually call themselves missionaries but no one thinks they're anything special.)

  Great chart, I think every study should be given one :)

  I Was Offered A Bible Study By The Elders

  2 elders, the cobe and his sidekick, a former bethelite and a young ms (elder in waiting) stopped by my mom's home while i was visiting with her.

  they were very congenial and eventually asked me if i got invited to the memorial and whether they could arrange a future visit with me and a possible study.

  i thanked them and told them i appreciated their invitation but that i was going to "pass at this time" but thanked them for their concern.. they recited a "wonderful experience" about a young man that was raised in the "truth" but wanted out so he decided to go to asia where he could not be found by witnesses.

  I'm pretty sure that 'experience' was from the latest yearbook although I haven't checked. My mum was trying to tell me one very similar when she was reading the yearbook.

  I reckon that if you accept the study they won't come back after the first one. Would be funny to disprove everything they said but maybe a bit mean to toy with your mother's feelings. Would she get her hopes up if you accepted?

  Ridiculous Memorial Invitation!

  has anyone seen this year's memorial invitation?

  maybe someone could post a picture.. on the front is a question to the householder, 'how do you view jesus?'.

  then it gives multiple choices with accompanying pictues: .

  I pointed it out to an elder and he admitted that he could have read a thousand times and not noticed the mistake.

  I told him I won't be handing any out to the public as I'd be too embarrassed.

  Question about Private/Public Reproof Records

  hello all, i have seen several topics of df/da records being kept, but not any on how long they keep private/public reproof records.

  anyone know?.

  are forms sent to the society on these instances like they do for df/da individuals?.

  If an active publisher is privately reproved and then moves to another cong shortly after, does the information about the reproof get passed on?

  Had an argument with my husband about this once, he thinks that nothing would be passed on if restrictions are lifted but suspect otherwise.

  A few years ago FB was really discouraged and slated especially at assemblies. Now they realise they can't control it's use amoungst it's members so they just try to control HOW it is used. But the damage has already been done in my opinion. Most older ones who aren't computer literate and out-of-touch elders already see it as something evil just because it's been given so much attention by the society.

  The recent awake articles were actually refreshingly balanced but there was a big emphasis on making your page an online advert for a good little JW lifestyle. So getting drunk with your friends is okay as long as you don't plaster pics all over your fb? And people find it easier to say what they really mean online so be extremely careful with the comments you write? Personally I'd rather know what people get up to at the weekends and hear what they really think rather than the polished, censored version of the themselves online. It's called being yourself!

  i was 25 years a congregation member; ten years an elder; all told, up to 18 years an appointed man; a decade or so as a full-time minister; assembly speaker, with the pinnacle giving the public discourse at a district convention.. .

  i stopped being an active member of the congregation in november 2010, but it had been brewing for several years, with the customary gradual drifting away - all the necessary mental gymnastics as my spiritual views changed and doubts set in; quitting the theocratic ministry school; ceasing to answer; sitting quietly off to the side.

  i think the straw that broke the camels back was when family worship inevitably became family worship.

  BEARDS: Why JW men don't have them

  i know this has been dished over before, but when i was doing some research i discovered a couple of interesting points.

  as far as i can find, there is only one wt article that implies that jw men should not have beards.

  It varies a bit from cong to cong. Where I grew up beards were as big no-no. But I remember a young sis getting engaged to a bro from another cong who had a beard. Everyone got really judgmental and assumed he was 'barely in the troof', turned out he was a MS and had no idea what the fuss was about. They got married and decided to live near his cong, no surprise!

  There's another cong nearby and everytime I've visited in the past I've noticed the WT reader, all the mic handlers and sound box man have goatees, no one bats an eyelid. Some of the elders have big moustaches.

  In my cong where they're really strict about beards there's a bro in his 20s who has autism & OCD and would only shave on the first day of the month. So you can imagine how he looked by the end of the month. Last time I saw him it looked like he'd given up shaving all together and he had an enormous bushy beard, like Russel's but ginger and with a short haircut. I love that the elders can't say anything because of his illnesses. I don't think he has any 'priviledges' but he does LOADS of door-knocking. I have nothing against beards but this guy really doesn't suit it, he honestly looks like a serial killer or something, must terrify householders. Hilarious!

  thanks for the link, I knew I couldn't have been the first person to spot their error. I wonder how many JWs will notice or if they'll all just shove them through letter boxes without having bothered to read them.

  As a newborn baby?

  A dying man?

  Or an exalted king?

  Then after posing this personal, viewpoint question, it says, 'YOU ARE INVITED TO HEAR THE ANSWER'.

  Is it just me or does this make no sense? So random member of the public has to go to a meeting at the Kingdumb Hall to find what their own view of Jesus is...?

  Has the WTBTS totally forgotten that worldly normal people are quite capable of knowing what their own views are without being given them at the KH?

  I can't believe that millions of these are going to be distributed. How embarrassing!

  I certainly won't be spending 30 hours next month handing out this rubbish.
