Since it is obvious all religion is wrong why do so many believe?
by jwfacts inany religion that claims it is the only correct one is obviously wrong.
by it's arrogance it becomes mutually exclusive of any other religion.
when one steps back they can see that the contradiction of one religion over the others is a proof that they all must be wrong.

I think so many believe because all religion is not ALL wrong. And because many people feel that a Higher Power exists. And so they find the religion (or are born into a religion) that becomes comfortable--or at least familiar--and accept the doctrines that feel right to them and play down the ones that don't within the confines of that particular faith. Very few religions insist that adherents believe 100% of the stated doctrines. Thus, there is room for one to have social and religious support without giving one's mind over totally to a particular cult. FREEDOM of religion is not burdensome, imnsho. It's when totalitarianism raises its head that religion becomes "wrong."

Adriamycin alone for Breast Cancer?
by outnfree inas many of you are aware (bless you for your support!
), i am undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
the oncologists have suggested adding adriamycin (doxorubicin) alone to my chemotherapy regimen (we are avoiding cytoxan for family health history reasons) and i'm wondering if the extra 84 days of treatment will be worth it.. right now, i am finished with taxotere and was scheduled to start another taxane, taxol (paclitaxel) with herceptin near the end of this month.

Thanks, (((((U_R!)))) I am definitely going to be taking the Herceptin as I've got +3 overexpression of the HER2 oncogene receptors, but it's the Adriamycin without Cytoxan and/or Fluorocil that's got me a bit stumped...

OMG! I'm so relieved....
by under74 ini found out friday morning that 2 of my cousins took a trip to new orleans last week without telling my aunt....but they are adults so.... anyway, they're known to take off to have fun (usually to gamble) so i didn't think much about it last weekend but time went on and my aunt got really worried.
my older brother started calling around to mutual friends and found out that they went to new orleans last week.
so to make a long story short my aunt just called saying my cousins are in someplace called new roads.

(((Merry))) -- that prayer is just beautiful!
Thanks to ((((((ALL)))))) who participated in this week's vigil.
I have a lot to think about this week. I began another thread under Blood, Medical Treatment asking those with any experience with Adriamycin (doxorubicin) therapy alone to share their input with me. Based on three recent studies, it seems it would be better for me to add this chemical to my regimen. It means another three months of chemotherapy, continuing treatment over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, and generally just feeling crappy for longer. I have not yet decided whether or not to add this therapy, but I am leaning toward yes, because it attacks cells at a different stage of cell division than the two other chemotherapy drugs that form part of my current regimen. And the risk/benefit is looking pretty helpful. It's just that Adriamycin is usually used in conjuntion with other adjuvant therapy and I'm having difficulty knowing what the benefit will be to me if it is NOT combined with the usual additional drugs. I'm already in for an entire year of Herceptin treatments and the radiation therapy after the chemo is done, plus 5 years of oral anti-hormone drugs. I loathe to drag this out, but don't really want a recurrence, either, if I can avoid one.
Decisions, decisions!
Plus, I'm missing my Lena who is back to school in Florida. She was a great support to me all summer. Of course, I'm thrilled that she's healthy and able to return to school after January's brain surgery. She's very excited and called to say she was going to the beach today!
I cannot express how much your caring means to me, ((((((((((everyone)))))))))! It helps brighten my week, every week!
Love,
Brenda

My opinion has evolved over the years that some people are just born to be warriors. This seems to have been the case with Sgt. "Obie" Kolath. May he rest in peace and may his friends and family be comforted that he lived and died true to his calling.

Right now, I am finished with Taxotere and was scheduled to start another taxane, Taxol (paclitaxel) with Herceptin near the end of this month. The Adriamycin works at killing cells at a different point in mitosis from the taxanes, so it might be wise to try it. I am beginning to research its efficacity when used alone, but it is usually used in combination therapy, so this is proving difficult.
Has anyone else taken Adriamycin alone and, if so, what were your side effects and results?
Thanks for any input you can share.

((Dimples)),
So nice to hear that you've sailed through surgery and are on the mend! It's great to know your surgery is a success. Yes, the neck brace is a bother, but you have your hubby's support and you can always contemplate the alternative--that previously debiliting pain that is now gone, gone, gone!
Keep well!
