i think we as jws acquire many phobias...that ordinary people dont get like:.
clithrophobia - the fear of being locked in (to a cult).
scopophobia - the fear of being stared at (when you are partaking or are disfellowshipped).

hi everyone well i have actually been in the chat room lots but this the first actual time i posted there isnt much to my story io am still a witness although it has been hard at times.
my dad and my step-mom are in the truth but i live with my real mom who is disfellowshiped.
i keep going to the meetings.

My good friend is the disfellowshipped mother of two girls. Their father and step-mom are also Witnesses. For quite some time, the older girl, who was friends with my oldest, went to the meetings on her own, getting rides from me , another sister, and sometimes mom herself. The younger sister was just relieved not to have to go anymore once her mother was DF'd.
All this by way of saying that I can empathize a bit with your situation.
Do you go to the meetings WITH your Mom? Is she trying to get reinstated? You say it's been hard times, so I'm wondering if you're wishing you could both just stay home.
Well, I've got 2 more threads to check and then I'm off to bed after spending the good part of yesterday (!) saving my computer from a virus or two.

i have read the various posts here an i have my own story to tell i amstill a witness not as active as i used to be but stillfaithful i think the main problem that jws have is that they put c.o's m.s's elders and the like on pedestals and when you do that you set yourself up for a letdown and when that person does something you dont think is right you are letdown but one should not let this block his/her relationship with jehovah.

watching the jw in service sat, i noticed how heavy their bookbags, or minisrty bags were, even the ones some children were carrying.
i said to myself how many books are needed for the simple mess.
of the good news?
In my [former] territory we have a large shopping mall where soliciting is not allowed. But, of course, WE were instructed that since it was such fertile territory for informal witnessing and this is GOD'S WORK, we had to look like we were shopping, not preaching.
So we were to bring only tracts that could fit in pockets or mags that would fit in purses. And work alone, not by twos. If we could fit a pocket-sized Bible inside an overcoat or in our purses, too, that would be fine.
Likewise, keeping their purpose from being obvious in apt. buildings, as Moxy pointed out.
So the bookbag is NOT dead, but the point might be that it IS a DEAD GIVEAWAY, and maybe some that were hiding-not-at-homes won't realize who they are until it's "too late"! LOL
Also, many ARE wise to the damage that carrying around loads of books can do to one's spine. It's not fun to have a herniated disc either out in field service or sitting at 5 meetings/week!
I, too, like your title, nojw, and may use your line on the next pair of witnesses I run into....
