since we are listing the best 3 things in life, i thought it would be interesting to list 3 things that you did and regret or things that are/were the worst in your life.
1. lack of friends growing up a jw; there just were not any.
no one liked jw's.

just a reminder to all those partisan politics folks that both republicans and democrats are dirty, lying thieves through and through.
conservatives enjoyed piling on clinton and getting all frothy about how he dishonered the dignity of the white house.
then george w. promised to 'restore dignity to the white house' and instead of viewing this as a typical political lie to get elected, conservatives bought it hook, line, and sinker.
Is anyone really surprised by all this? This country has been run by big biz forever. It's the American Way. Back to reality folks. While the tragedy of Sept 11th did unite the *people* of this country, it did not *really* have any long term effect on the government, as far as partisinship(?) is concerned, it's back to biz as usual. Sad.
i am interested in people's opinions on this.... is or is not cybersex cheating?
only if it turns into love.......
rebuttal to amnesian's post preface .
intro: i am making a preface to kick-off my rebuttal so that when some of you read this, you can have a quick review of where i am coming from, and my views, and the tone i am trying to set.
then if you wish to expend the time, my full rebuttal will be posted in parts over the next few days (except news years day).

Amazing-
I am not sure if you will see this, 'cause it looks like your leavin' our happy little place. And please, I don't mean to jump on the bandwagon, but you did respond to my post, and I shall reply.
I do think you take this too personally, and way too serious. Your obvious defense of your character was enlightening. I don't care what you say, all men to a degree are chauvinist(?), it's our nature. Admit it, it's not so hard. You feel threatened by a woman, kinda' makes you feel insecure huh? It's rough buddy, it's a new world out there. Adapt or wither away. Your choice.
Ego, what ego? We all got 'em, and they all bruise, some easy, some not. If it's wrong it's wrong, if it's right it's right. Simple huh.
What I'm trying to say is I think Amnesian had some very valid points, and even though you say "you've come a long way" I don't think you have. Someone with your intelligence should see that. Learn, do some real growth, it feels good.

I have been following the threads between you and Amnesian, why do you take things so personally? Please just reply to the post. I don't
want to know your lifes story. I am afraid your ego has gotten the best of you, again. Just an observation.

don't know if this has been touched on before, but where did evil originate?
yes, some may answer satan.
but think about this: god created all things, and god is perfect.
Just caught this so if I may add;
Evil is either caused by god, or exists independently; but it can't
be caused by god because then he could not be all loving, nor can it exist hostilely, because then he would not be all powerful. Evil is not a result of god or the devil, the laws of existence present themselves in the form of what is morally good or evil.

As a new guy, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I joined
after lurking for several weeks. I feel like I know some of you already, at least your on-line personna, (which in most cases, I think
are fairly accurate of the real person). I have made a couple of posts
out of nowhere just to get my feet wet, and probably stepped on some toes, great entrance huh? My beliefs have been buried for 25 years, this board has awaken them.
I was raised a Lutheran, of German decent. 9 years in a Lutheran school formed most of my religous beliefs. Or at least that was the way it was supposed to be. Around the 5th grade I started to have doubts,(it actually correponds with my parents divorce)and would ask questions, challenge the teacher regarding the probability of the things we were being taught, how we only talk about the rainbows and happy stuff, while "gods people" are being slaughtered elsewhere in his name? It was not well recieved. Suddenly, what comes to mind, oh yeah, black sheep. The last 3 years were made most uncomfortable for me, in the late 60s physical punishment was still handed out rather freely. It made me sick, and I swore never to be like the hypocrites that were my "role models". Never gave god(s) much thought after I left that school. I find this board informative, thought provoking on a wide range of subjects, and sometimes most amusing. I think to see my thoughts and feelings transformed into written word for all to
see, is a form of catharsis and somewhat empowering. It is good to
think and feel again, anything! Thanks to all, and I look forward to
future correspondence. BTW I work long and varied hours, (ah the joy
of restaurant management) so if I don't respond promptly, don't take it personally.

in another post i mentioned job a comedy of justice by robert heinlien.
the responses to the post got me thinking about other books that have affected me.
what books have had an impact on your life?
Great question:
I'm not sure any have shaped me, but some certainly have had a profound effect on my thinking and thought process.
Escape from Evil-Ernest Becker
Divorced-CS Lewis
Catcher in the Rye:)-JD Salinger
People of the Lie-M. Scott Peck
Don Quixote-Miguel De Servantes
No wonder I'm so screwed up:D
To bleed, or not to bleed......
i have a question.
i have asked it in a private discussion with a fundamentalist who cowardly ignored the whole premise of the thought and am hoping there is someone here who can address it.. i am aware of the fact that abortion is one hot button topic.
it is not my intention to make this a debate about abortion.
Julie,
Interesting indeed. The question does perplex, believers and non-believers alike. Believers have blind faith, and too easily accept
atrocities from the OT as gods will, and will not question. The fear of eternal damnation must be too great for them. Of course non-believers can see the ridiculousness of the situation, and can choose
without fear of religous retribution, "if there for it or agin it".
(abortion that is)
Blind faith is the only argument for the whole bible, not just this issue. Unless someone can prove me wrong.
