Exactly right, that was my point but I don’t think our learned friend will be enlightened.
I seem to recall this argument has been played out before. 🤨
Time for a shiraz,

how far do we get away from 1914 before they have a new light and admit it was all wrong?.
they cling to the old theory of the 77 week prophecy from the wrong date that jerusalem was destroyed .
with the overlapping generations nonsense still we are getting too far away from 1914. what will they say if we get to the 2030s and they still cling to 1914?.

Scholar dear chap,
When you write this:
the end of the Gentile Times as a definite date of October, 1914 CE
It reminds me of a problem I always had in Witness theology. You see if the Gentile Times ended in October and Satan was cast out to forment trouble for the earth as evidenced by global war, how come WW1 started on
28 July 1914

he's quibbling over whether he works one or two days a month.
Really ??
whether it’s one or two days, it’s still a nice little earner!
What would he do without the Witchtower?

hi everyone i’m a pimo elder ex bethelite and pioneer who has been having doubts for many years.
as of late i’ve come to have even more doubts mainly due to the gb pushing the vaccines and acting like salesman for big pharma companies .
i will never take these vaccines even if it meant i couldn’t go to the hall as was previously said but the gb have done a big u turn on this now.
m staying in as I have many good friends and I love the congregation
Look you could get that at any club or association.
Isn’t the important thing to be true to yourself or as punkofnice put it, to be authentic.
What is it you actually believe?, speak to that at the hall. You owe it to the “good friends” you have there.

They will eventually stop talking about 1914, and concentrate on how near the end is,
It seems to me that the shift has already started and the catchcry “the time is short” is getting more airplay than 1914.

Why is there a need to ditch 1914 when it along with 1918 and 1919 forms what could be properly termed an eschatological triennium - sound Biblical Theology?
Nice try, scholar ! 😀
You’re pulling a long bow on that “sound Biblical Theology” line, but I know you’ve convinced yourself.
How are you btw ? You’ve been around a while.

Undoubtedly, the final part of the final part of the Last Days, shortly before the final day of the Last Days."
Well, it is for Stephen Lett, he won’t be around much longer at his age! 😀
does anyone know what year?
.
Rutherford felt singing at the meetings was worldly. But after Rutherford kicked-the-bucket, they brought singing back.
This illustrates that so many of the Dubs “bible-based” beliefs are simply the erratic teachings of men.
Like why do they ‘allow’ wedding anniversaries and don’t allow birthdays?
Why do they ‘allow’ wedding rings?
Oh, and we know why alcohol was never frowned on, don’t we Joe Ratherflawed?

When I look back on my own time in the period of doubts, what I did, along with Mrs Ozzie and another couple who were our bestest friends and fellow travellers, was to gather those doubts into a list. We took the “JWs - What Do They Believe” brochure and used it as a checklist of beliefs we agreed with, those we didn’t and those we weren’t sure about.
We agreed to spend time in further researching of those core beliefs and then meet up again in a year’s time.
It was amazing that after one year there was nothing left in keeping us in that system of errors and so the exit was made.
As a result we now enjoy true freedom.
what do people usually think of when they buy a house?
"i will probably live here for a long time" (you're invested with your time), "i will save money by building equity over time".
(you've invested in yourself financially for the long run) of course, i wouldn't be able to list the numerous reasons why people want to buy a house.
Would it be wise to buy a house, or would it be considered being worldly and materialistic and an overall poor investment (spiritually speaking)?
Haha, this reminded me of the language of the Witchtower in Questions from Readers or in the Awake! 😁
’salright mate, not criticising, it just made me smile 😊
