The people I’ve met in churches describe themselves as christians who attend an anglican church.
🙂
how far do we get away from 1914 before they have a new light and admit it was all wrong?.
they cling to the old theory of the 77 week prophecy from the wrong date that jerusalem was destroyed .
with the overlapping generations nonsense still we are getting too far away from 1914. what will they say if we get to the 2030s and they still cling to 1914?.

unlike a Church born out of the divorce of an English king circa 1534 AD.
Wasn’t the church born at Pentecost ?
(asking with a smile on my face😊)

I don't think he can ever be free because his life post watchtower is still all about them!
Precisely !
His life actually needs the Watchtower !
What a sad existence.

The Anglican church is a “broad church” and that appealed to me after the uniformity of the Kingdom Halls.
However, although recognising the Book of Common Prayer, there is some variety in liturgy and forms of service.
My local church has two services on Sunday, the traditional prayerbook service and the modern ‘Family service’. Either and both are acceptable and both congregations enjoy rich loving fellowship both within their congregations and between them as a whole ‘church’ - so different to what I may have expected from a Dub mindset.
You’d be welcome to join me !

my friend you must be unaware !
A benefit of having streamed services because of Covid restrictions opens Sydney Anglican parishes and their weekly services to public view. In two of my ‘favourite’ churches, this past couple of weeks, their prayer time has highlighted and prayed for Christ’s return.
Indeed in my own church this was the case this very morning!
The Borg likes to parrot what it considers as failings on the part of “Christendom “ (the churches in general) and condition the R&F to believe much that is simply untrue. Once Mrs Ozzie and I left the Borg we each decided that we must examine more and I had to find out for myself.
It has now been a quarter century since leaving the Borg and examining Church teachings and practices at first hand.
What did I find?
I found that what the Borg-masters teach the R&F about the so-called wicked and Satanic churches is utter *****. It’s lies designed to keep a R&F in obedience.
I’m sharing in leading a church where we study the Word diligently and proclaim the risen Christ and his imminent return.
This morning after service I was even speaking of this at coffee time.
Sorry scholar and any others, you’re misled!

i take your point although not adopting the JW interpretation.
The big difference must be on the JW teaching of “presence” (parousia) and “coming”. JWs teach that Christ is already present invisibly and the faithful have to accept this unprovable teaching, just as they must accept that an invisible Christ appointed eight men to control the JW organisation which they claim Christ controls. No evidence for any of that - it’s unprovable..
The teaching of Christ’s Return is part of mainstream christian beliefs and I know that in Anglican churches in Sydney public prayers include the desire to witness that and soon.
The churches teach the need to keep on the watch, preparedness, but all without the pressure to keep in servitude found in the JW world.

Not wishing to try and get the last word, can I instead pose this question in all sincerity.
if the year 1914 is so important eschatologically, what do you think it heralded?
And what does that mean for christians?
That’s a “Dorothy Dixer” I guess. 🙂

The discrepancy or otherwise in the Gentile Times is a side-alley for me, despite me highlighting it over the years with Scholar.
The Gentile Times may be of interest to those of the end Times variety but not to mainstream Christianity- they’ve got it sorted.
However, for end Timers it’s relevant to point out and especially to Dubs the seeming discrepancy in their own teaching.

Good point Simon. I'm not religious anymore but I really despise people like Lloyd who keep pushing the atheist agenda. I don't believe in god, so what? Why should I tell people who are religious that they should stop believing?
i like your point Chinapomo
i got really turned off Lloyd Evans channel because he presents a JW or atheism choice.
People leave for all sorts of reasons but some like Mrs Ozzie and I leave for theological reasons i.e. we came to understand we were christian but we came to see the Borg wasn’t the “true christian” path it claimed.
I sometimes wonder whether Lloyd Evans has ever really left the Borg. His ‘modus operandi’ so imitates his way back in his Borg days. He can criticise the GB all he likes but that doesn’t mean so much theologically.
Oh well, just surmising……

what do jehovah’s witnesses do during election period in australia?
i learnt voting is compulsory in australia and those who choose not to vote are fined.
do jehovah’s witnesses pay such fines?.
Dubs in Australia are issued a failure to vote notice after an election and required to respond by either paying a fine or stating their reason for not voting. They are instructed to complete a reason on the form which usually goes along the lines of having given their allegiance to Christ’s Kingdom and being neutral to human affairs.
They post their forms back to the Electoral Commission and no more is heard.
