its a personal pet peeve to me but i hate it when ex jws use the catch phrase friends.
this was used at every convention and many meetings i went to.
the friends, mother and others.
But if you left this group why would you keep some of its catch phrases?
Interesting, I guess I’d forgotten how they refer to their gatherings as the “friends”.
Now I think about it, since leaving the Borg I haven’t come across any other group or association referring to themselves as the friends.
I guess it’s another part of their closed shop terminology along with such words as “the Truth” and “the Organisation”.

Not exactly. In fairness to our worthy combatant, he has maintained such a scholarly approach on this forum these past 21 years.
I remember well his first appearance on the forum and I admit I doubted his claims but now, all these years later, I must acknowledge his endurance, his consistency and tenacity.
Of course, he knows I don’t share his views of Witness theology, I myself am convinced of more orthodox Christian theology.
Nonetheless, our ‘colleague’ has my admiration and respect.

I think he has tried in the past but he faces the problem that, since he has no belief in the Scriptures’ historicity nor any proclaimed belief, he’s stuck with just dismissing the whole basis of belief.
As has been previously mentioned some pages back (I think!), his channel is now presenting a JW v Atheism challenge alone. Of course, it’s not that simple and PIMOs are working through a myriad of aspects to belief.
IMHO a forum like this (than you Simon!) has far more substantive value. We can be informed and challenged every step of the way.

i keep hearing that the watchtower org is going to be around forever because of the many other religions that have been around a long time.
but i disagree because the wt is not like other religious cults.. the watchtower's breath of life is dependent on the last days that started in 1914. .
