Heavenly Gates Closed in 1935 Re-opened in 2007

since 1935, the watchtower had been categorically teaching (for over 6 decades) that the heavenly calling of the 144,000 anointed christians had ceased in 1935. this teaching was especially significant to older jws (especially those who spent much of their lives serving the watchtower as pioneers, elders, missionaries, bethelites, etc.

) because many of these would eventually turn their attention to the aging governing body members and feel a sense of relief knowing that the end was drawing ever so near.

in other words, as more governing body members (who were born before 1935) passed away, the closer they would get to their long-awaited reward of surviving armageddon and living on paradise earth where they would finally hug grass-eating lions near a waterfall while marveling at snow-peaked mountains in the distance.

What I wonder is what the average R&F makes of all this, the new GB members?

Surely they must be at least puzzled, or even troubled, at seeing the numbers of their priestly class gradually exploding?

We were conditioned to view newer emblem partakers as a bit deluded or even cranks. So how do they feel about these latest additions to the gb?

And if the gates closed in 1935 with any new members simply being replacements for unfaithful ones, there must be one hell of a lot of the remnant who’ve been unfaithful!

Dreading the memorial

hey.

does anyone else dread attending (in person or on zoom) the memorial months in advance?.

literally as soon as new year hits, i feel sick and super anxious, and i've realised it's because of the memorial, which i only attend because of family, who kinda tell me the reason they have bad health is cuz i left the jw sevel years ago..

Our attendance at the memorial shows a deep respect and thankfulness for what Jesus did for us.

What is it you are to do in remembrance of him?

Isn’t it to share in the communion meal?

How does rejecting the bread and the wine show anything but disrespect and dishonour of what “Jesus did for us”?

No doubt you’ve been conditioned to believe that it’s not for you but nowhere in the NT does it tell you to reject the bread and the wine.

Oh, by the way, welcome aboard here, I’m sure you’ll soon learn that there is much to learn about “The Truth”TM, in fact the truth about The Truth.

I think that the problem is that there is a governing body at all.

There is no problem, there is no evidence for a Watchtower inspired governing body at all.

Reading the scriptural record in Luke’s Acts of the Apostles we read that there was a dispute between the church of Antioch and the church in Jerusalem. Judaizers from Jerusalem had visited Antioch and sought to impose adherence to Judaizer compliance.

The church in Antioch sent Paul and Barnabas to the church in Jerusalem to seek a resolution.

The record in Acts clearly records what occurred.

The Watchtower Org (Borg) has distorted the NTrecord to reinforce their teaching of a governing body authorority.

The truth is that there never was a governing body.

Tony Morris has inherited a position that can only be traced back to the mid 2000’s; even the popes of Rome have more history!
