And all of what prelates this is a load of CRAP !
It has nothing to do with the christian faith.
It may have everything to do with a JW view of what falsely is christian but we’ve moved past that ———— haven’t we?

more accurately known as a reversal of a long held 'truth.'.

For those non-christians and those who are simply ex-JW:
if you’ve read through this thread you would be mightily put-off, but let me assure you that this does NOT portray the christian faith or belief.
The christian faith is so much more than what is described on this thread and advocated by a random use of scripture texts.

do you have any amazing quotations that have been produced by the faithful slave over the years?.
remember it's important that we should learn to love and value truth for it’s own sake; to respect and honor it by owning and acknowledging it wherever we find it and by whomever presented.
a truth presented by the faithful slave himself is just as true as a truth stated by god.. share some of those amazing quotations that have fascinated you.
They asked for God's merciful understanding
God’s “merciful understanding” of their false teaching ??!!!!!
i bought a pre-owned mercedes m class .
my second car.
and the day i drove it to the hall i was told by an elderrette that is a showy display and too much car.
When I was in the "truth" there was so much competition. Now that I'm out there is no competition. Crazy thing it is!
Oh yeah! Funny that ain’t it?
As Mrs Ozzie would often remark to me “What was right, is really wrong and what was wrong is really right.”!🙃

Now there’s a blast from the past !
I guess I do remember it 😉
i don’t recall all those years ago but did I say much ?
What a neat scheme it was. Coincidentally just the other day, I came across a certificate of merit that mentioned just such an enterprise in Oz.
ahh, it was quite an achievement at the time.

Yep, and it’s good to see some real evaluation. A bit like with the emperor’s new clothes, the herd just repeats what they hear.
Thanks, Simon, for telling it like it is.
hello, i'm new here and have woken up to the real truth concerning the org.
i'm sort of fading away at the moment.... i need help with something, i used to as a child celebrate christmas and have always had amazing memories of it (my husband hasn't as he was born into the org) but i gave it up when i learnt the "truth".
my interest was only in pleasing god and still is.
Oh dear, oh dear, show me a scripture to back up your argument and I’ll show you mine!
This does not reflect well to Samsie.
Look, people, keep this in mind when quoting scripture to back your argument, especially GodBeliever:
CONTEXT, CONTEXT, CONTEXT!!!
I found it helpful when I was exiting the Dubs to read plenty of Bible commentaries to help me evaluate scripture texts. Then I went to Bible college and it has opened my eyes to what is really being spoken about in various Bible passages.
BTW merely quoting scripture texts in isolation and out of context is no proof, quite the opposite.

So I assume it's not part of Christian belief and worship to God.
No, it’s not but do you think, or rather know, that it’s part of christian belief and worship? From what I’ve seen snd experienced, christians celebrating christmas do so out of thankfulness and joy, not because it’s some sort of ritual.
He never mentioned Christmas
No, he didn’t just like he isn’t reported as saying a lot of things but we can’t by inference make rules based on the absence of words. Witness teaching does just that and that sentence reads from the Witness play book.

Samsie:
As an old-timer I add my welcome to you.
You know there was a time when Witnesses celebrated Christmas but in a move to differentiate themselves from “the world” it became a no-no.
Still I can recall my own young years growing up in a Witness family celebrating Christmas up until my high school years.
Like you say, there are happy childhood memories of those family occasions. Let’s face it, it was a joyful time, it was fun!
As others have commented, why not celebrate your children’s birthdays? Those days are an important ‘right of passage’, a recognition of their taking their place in the world, of celebrating how well they are growing into people who have a destiny. The Witnesses cannot point to a scriptural prohibition of birthday celebrations, or Christmas for that matter. They simply parrot the line that bad things happened on birthday celebrations in the Bible. In other words, they are adding “man-made” words to the Bible.
How does your husband feel about all this? That will determine just how much celebrating you do. Even so, I’d suggest you take things a bit at a time, gradually accustomising yourselves to a change in lifestyle.
For myself, I’m very involved in a church these days but when Christmas time comes around I choose not to have a lot of the traditional decorations, but concentrate on what christmas actually means, Christ coming into our world. Different families at church celebrate christmas in different ways, there’s no rules, that’s the important thing.
So, enjoy it!
And again, Welcome aboard!
Cheers,
Ozzie🍷
