I met Grace in 1999 in Pennsylvania. She is the greatest person. I don't know if you remember me Grace, I went with Chatty Cathy. I didn't have that good a time, but it was interesting and I got to met a lot of email friends I had been writing for months. It is not my cup of tea now, but if I had the money I would go just to see my friends again. Pam

Ex-JW Convention in Pennsylvania coming up!
by Dogpatch infor those who are inclined, i recommend this convention.. october 17-19, 2003. pfo?s international convention will celebrate its silver anniversary in 2003. from humble beginnings in 1979, the convention has been a consistent source of counsel, support, and encouragement for people whose lives have been torn apart by the watchtower society.
during the past twenty-four years, help to jehovah?s witnesses who desire to break free from the organization and to families who have lost loved ones to the sect have been a primary focus of the meetings.
the three-day conventions are filled with doctrinal teaching, examinations of jehovah?s witness doctrine and practice, and wonderful testimonies by those who have made their exodus from the watchtower organization and have found true salvation through jesus christ.. http://www.pfo.org/2003wnfj.htm.

I am in my early 40's but no grey hair. I have been told red heads grey slower than most. I know my great-grandmother was way in her late 60's before she turned grey. I got my red hair from her. So I think I have a few more years to be a lighter shade of the red I was when I was young. Pam

If Your Child or Friend Told You They Were Gay, Would You Be Disturbed?
by minimus inas a jehovah's witness, you know that you cannot practice homosexuality.
it's considered a sin.
if your friend or relative revealed that they were gay, you would be obligated to "report" them to the elders.

I would not care what sex my son't partner is as long as that person treats him well. I have never understood the hatred that people feel toward gay people. I figure love is a hard thing to find, and when you do what difference does it make if that person is the same sex or not.
In fact, when my oldest son first became a teenager I was worried that he had no sex drive at all. I was happy when he finally started showing interest in girls when he turned 19. I would have been happy if it had been a boy, just as long was he actually had some sort of normal sexual feelings like most people do. Of course after he started getting some, he lost all his common sense (he didn't have much to begin with). But that's a guy thing isn't it?
I would never turn anyone in for being gay. In fact the only time I turned someone in was this girl who was studying and everyone made such a big deal about her. She was single and had 3 kids I think. She thought that we were very much alike. I was single with 2 kids. Anyway, the elder's wife who studied with her thought she was so perfect, and recuited people to help her with her kids. No one helped me, I deserved my troubles after all I was babptized when I made my mistakes. This girl was still smoking and coming over to my house. I turned her in for one because I wanted to see her get what was coming to her, and I didn't want to get in trouble because I the elders didn't trust me anyway.

Basically, women like to work under a ceiling of authority, provided that it is exercised properly. I have never liked being under any authority. That is probably why I am divorced. He wasn't a jw, but he had the man as head crap down real good. I told him that was not how it was going to be. And I ended up making most of the decision, especially the ones concerning my kids. Stuff like the above was why I always wanted my children but not marriage. My mother could never understand that. Pam

I joined a church at first. But since then I have had many doubts and do not go to any church. I am beginning to see that all that bible stuff is not something I need. Now I am just exploring many other beliefs and ideas. But I will never be christian again. I have had enough of that. Pam

DID Your Parents take action when The Society Failed to do so?
by YoursChelbie into any child who is an abuse survivor:.
at some point, your abuser was made known to the elders in your local jw congregation but .
the "elders" did nothing to report the matter to local authorities.

My mom is still married to him. And nothing ever was done. Today is there wedding anniversary. I think it's something like 35 years. The elders years later voided his baptizim (can't spell) because was molesting me when he got dunked. So he should not ever have been a jw. I don't know why they didn't df him, except they didn't want anyone to know what had happened so many years before. I guess they didn't want to look like the unfeeling jerks they are. I am just recently having trouble with this. My mom has begun trying to rewrite our family history to look like she has had a good marriage all these years. Also he (mother's husband) thinks he is better than my ex bil who beat up my sister on a regular basis for 16 years (after all he never hit my mom, abuses to children do not count). When he starts acting like he is so much better it is all I can do not to beat him senseless. The only plus is he is old and fat and losing his eyesight. And I for one do not feel the least bit sorry. Fables, Farces and Facts
by Farkel inno, this piece is not about alliteration.
for true believers?
the subject matter is quite serious, and may just possibly affect the quality of the rest of you lives; it may also affect your eternal fate, if there is such a thing.

I love these discussions. They really make me stop and think. My brain is working kind of slow tonight, but I enjoyed it just the same. Personally, I think the Bible was written by a bunch of men who hated women and wanted a way to keep them down. Pam

"Besides, We Give Gifts Throughout the Year!"
by Swan inthe jws always give a lengthly explanation as to why they don't celebrate christmas or birthdays, and then always add the final statement "besides, we give gifts throughout the year!".
yeah, right!
okay, lets get an unofficial count of all the people who actually did get gifts on other days of the year.

One time we actually got gifts wrapped in paper. I think my mom did it because she was so guilty that she left with my step dad and us older kids has to watch the younger kids. I remember it because I was so shocked that we got gifts. Otherwise we never got a present wrapped in paper. I purposely wrap a gift for my neice, and give it a week before Christmas. But now my sister expects it. She calls and asks if we are giving her daughter a gift, as it would not be fair that the cousins (my brothers kids) will brag and make her daughter feel bad. Don't know why my sister can't do it herself. Pam

I was working at the middle school in Abliene Kansas. And after first hour, one of the paras came in and said something has happened in NY at the World Trade Center. Abliene schools are all wired for computers and cable tv. So we turned on the classroom tv, and were just in time to see the second plane fly into the building. It was the most shocking thing I had ever seen. Every classroom was turned to the news that day. And school pretty much stopped as everyone sat and watched tv. After a couple of hours, it was decided that the tvs neeced to be turned off. But one ran all the time in the library for the next two weeks, and staff members would go in there to get updates. It was such a wonderful, cool, bright blue sky September day in Kansas two years ago. It felt so strange knowing what was happening in other parts of the country. Pam
