I think I know the answer, but can I be in a "worldly wedding"?
by ex360shipper inwell for those of you who don't know i am on the long slow fade.
i do not go to meetings at all anymore, it has been 10 months since i last stepped foot in a kh, went to dc last year and will go to memorial for my mother.. good friend of mine, catholic, told me he is popping the question monday.
i know it will be in a catholic church.

Well for those of you who don't know I am on the long slow fade. I do not go to meetings at all anymore, it has been 10 months since I last stepped foot in a KH, went to DC last year and will go to memorial for my mother.
Good friend of mine, catholic, told me he is popping the question Monday. And I am sure he is going to ask me to be in it. I know it will be in a Catholic Church. The only time I have ever been in a church before is for a funeral and I was active back then and got uncomfortable when they did the wafer thing and went outside. I have no idea how a Catholic wedding even goes.
Anyway, is being in a wedding in a Catholic Church a DFing offense? I doubt I'd be seen or caught, but would like to know.

dirty trick at the meeting re facebook
by Aussie Oz inmy daughter told me about last weeks service meeting part on facebook.... the brother doing the parts asked for a show of hands who had a facebook account.. apparently a number of elders did.. (she did not put up her hand...in fact recently deleted all jws off her friends because she doesnt want them to know anything about her life).
i thought that was a dirty trick to pull.. oz.

Everyone is attacking TheSheppard but I for one welcome having a current elder on the site, and he is entitled to his opinions.
Folks, just because most of us here are ex-JWs or inactive certainly does not mean we all share the same opinions on every subject. Lets keep it classy. He is not a hypocrite, he even said that he raised his own hand when he asked the question.

I remember a few years ago an elder asked me if I could help him go online and find the myspace accounts for all the young witnesses in our circuit. I told him I didn't have an account and had no idea how to do that. Later, at a circuit assembly a brother talked about how "many" youths in the circuit had been posting unchristian activities on their myspace accounts and parents needed to monitor them.

Special Projects Committee List
by C.O.B.E.Beef inhas anyone seen anything in writing explaining the role of the special projects committee?
several months ago our circuit overseer explained it to me, and i had not heard of it prior to that.
from what i remember, each circuit overseer compiles a list of 10-15 key elders in the circuit to be available to assist him in handling complex matters in their region, issues involving child abuse, homosexuality, financial matters and appeals committees.just wondering if anyone else has any info, or is on the list for that matter..

How many of us have Higher Learning, and still mop floors
by Quarterback insomeone who works at a college locally, pointed out to me that one of their scholar students was stocking shelves at a dollar store.. with this recession, are you finding that higher learning is wasting time?

i know that it's necessary to become a dr. or a lawyer, but, with the shortage of work, even teachers are working as secretarys.. what do you think?.

Dealing with elders during my mom's surgery
by noni1974 inmy mother has been working forwell over a year to have a gastric bypass and she finally got the ok from her doctor and insurance.
the date is set for this coming friday.
although, i'm not 100% sure this will happen because she was diagnosed with pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung this past week.
