I'll try not to bore you. This is about my wonderful friend who is getting married and asked me to me maid of honor. Well we've ended up fighting over stupid things and it was definitely heart wrenching. I cried for a whole day. Now we're fine but she mentioned that we should write or find a song to sing together at the reception. So ...

Will you guys give it your best shot? Help me write a song about the BitchBride and the DemonMatron? Their friendship, and this troubled decision making process of the wedding, and resolving issues back to friendship.

I need advice quick...and a hug.

i'm in a bit of a state at the moment, my wife has just left me about 30 mins ago and took the kids...i don't know where.... ok, some of you long-timers may remember the problems i had with my son ben, who decided that the jw religion wasn't for him about a year ago.

i supported him as best i could through that and he's developed into a fine young man with a more healthy spiritual attitude, investigationg a number of christian churches in the area and finally settled on church of england, which he really likes now.. although no longer a christian myself i have no objection to them pursuing whatever religious path they choose (obviously within reason).

that has been the case with all of my children: ben, 15, charlotte, 14 and chloe, 12. i have never attempted to stop my wife taking them to the meetings although i have voiced to them privately my concerns about the religion.

dmouse, Thanks for keeping in touch. There will be time enough later to get the whole story. Just think how much this struggle will show your kids about your honesty. You seem to be able to keep yourself together. My hope for you is to carry as little of this pain forward as possible. Panda

I agree w/ Mulan. Tell your Mom [one on one]. Remind her of your age and that it may take a long time to sort through things. Does she really want you to be df'd. Why make it difficult for you to maybe come back some day. And really you don't know that you won't miss dubdumb. What if someday you want to be brain dead?

Next year you'll be in college. All sorts of new friends and ideas. What awonderful time to look forward to and to prepare for. Maybe reading over brochures w/Mom and involving her in your course choices. Mom's love being asked to get involved w/their kids big changes!

I know everyone here is just pleased as pinch that you are smart and courageous enough to see the ugliness of the WTS.

I asked my ex-elder husband about this. He said that you cannot be disfellowshipped for doubting. Although he hasn't been an Elder for 5 years. So his suggestion is avoid the meeting. Just tell them you are busy. If cornered, tell them that you have doubts and are looking at all the WTS literature for answers. Which is true since they hang themselves.

Remember that basically you have the upper hand. I know you want to tell them where to go. But they think they know how to trick you, deceive you into admitting that you no longer believe this is Jah organization.

Tape record the session (if you haven't been able to get out of it). Just take out your little digital recorder and start "this is [name and the date] meeting w/{names of elders] At that point they'll ask you to put it away [boooooo] say you might want to listen to the counsel again rather than bothering them (the way they bothered you w/ excessive phone calls).

Be confident and strong. You know the lies. They are just trying to maintain their slim hold on power. You know how to deal with them.

I'm proud of making it to the top. Ruling the world on the back of the "selfish gene." These idiots want to add the GOD factor? Okay then lets call GOD the Gene Organizing Device ... Why are people so intent on dumbing down America? It just makes me wonder at kids in developing nations understanding science and questioning theory. These kids don't have PC's in their classrooms. No airconditioning. No gym equipment. No daily school buses. But they understand that one science is built on another ie., Einstein built on Newtonian physics.

Sheesh how will the mediocre even understand evolution when the dictionaries don't get the definition correct. And why do so many find that defending god and creation is so important? If god wanted it that way he'd have given plenty of proof of creation. However today the theory of evolution continues to gain evidence. But let's keep the people dumb so we can control them.

I have always got to find out for myself. This doesn't always work, but then I have no one to blame but me. Of course this doesn't mean I don't tell my friends who is or isn't friend worthy.
