No. They cannot reform. When the circumstances present themselves he would recommit his crime. I know that I felt so guilty when I realised that my silence allowed my brother to molest his step daughter and grandaughter. The money issue? These men are such cowards... always pushing at those they think that they can bully... well you know the whole psyche thing with these criminals... remind him he's a criminal.

May I re-phrase that question? Have you stepped out of the slippery manure pile and onto the solid earth? Yes. Have you removed the glaucoma shells from your eyes? Yes. Have you unplugged the wax from your ears? Yes. Does the term Society have a negative primary meaning to you? Yes. Does the term Elder make you chuckle? Yes. Does the phrase Christian Love give you cause for derision? Yes. So yeah I guess so, yeah.

Why Do Jewish Leaders Want to Censor Mel Gibson?
by RubyTuesday in.
jewish leaders want a monopoly over the spiritual life of the jewish people, and do not want them to learn about the liberating faith of christianity because jewish leaders would lose their power.

First I adore Mel Gibson. Not for his serious stuff like Braveheart (which I admit swooning at) but the fluff of Lethal Weapon films. Gibson is a fine actor and I'm sure any project he's involved with will be popular, if for no other reason than his acting. I predict that my christian friends will be all over me with reasons to go see this film. But in the end wouldn't you all agree that it's the emotions that draw you in? Many who like the film are already christian, so this is a dramatization of their deeply held beliefs. Personally I say religion sucks the big one. There will always be "the other" who is guilty of all manner of ills. Imagine if everyone stopped looking for a scapegoat. Read "The Origins of Satan", Pagel
If you really want to see a young guy torn apart by religion watch "Believer" Its a film based on the life of a young jewish guy from NY. In the film he joins a neo-Nazi group (I know, right!!!) It's a fantastic film with a young actor in the lead who deserves some accolades for his acting. Oh, by the way the film did not get general release because the rabbis who viewed it panned the work ... even though it was based on a true story run in the NY Times... go figure.(The true story took place around 1986)
Simon, You, You brat... You just wish your ancestors had been colonists, admit it. Actually my grandparents got here around 1900 so "not guilty to all charges" well except for that thing in India and also Turkey, but let's forget those.
And the tea tax was not the reason Americans wanted to throw off the British yoke.
Many products would be shipped to England from lands closer to the colonies just to obtain a tax stamp. This, of course, drove prices higher. And where did that tax money go? King George III and his royal entourage.(to be fair to the German monarch he did suffer from a physically debilitating disease).
The colonists also complained about paying for magistrates whom they had no choice but to accept and pay ( in America its about $$$) British soldiers were permitted to barrack in the colonists homes...how would you like that?
People in the North had been phasing out slaves even while under colonial rule. The south was highly aggrarian and slavery remained an institution because of ... you guessed it $$$. And who was buying all of that cotton and tobacco produced by slaves... by golly it was England. Which btw required all raw materials to be sent to England in order to be processed and the final product shipped back to the colonies ... at, you guessed it, much higher prices.
And to whoever mentioned the Nazi's ... No group of Lutherans or Protestants or Presbyterians or Roman Catholics or Communists (or bankers, because that's a kind of religion too) cared about the Shoah in Nazi controlled Poland, Czechoslovakia, or Germany.
Nobody cared because it had always been "ok, wink wink" to hate the Jews. Once again religion rears it's ugly head.
"Imagine no religion, it isn't hard to do"JL

Is a porn star a movie star?
by spiritwalker ini worked in the cable industry for awhile and each year we would go to a convention in which stations would promote themselves to keep our business.
in doing this, there were always the adult channels represented, as well.
while i walked the floor and met people from showtime, hbo and other stations.

I don't care to admit that I agree with Minimus but if they are the star of the movie, they are a movie star...I guess. And even mainstream movie stars are often lousey actors. If porn were really about sex and not brutality I think more people would watch those films. But the brutality in the most popular porn is just plain Yuck

Curious about something ?
by Nadsam inwho has the real truth then ?.
i found this forum last year and since then i have read many posts.

I agree w/ Avengers and use the Bible even though I don't accept it as god's word. But speaking from the Bible usually helps other folks to be more comfortable when discussing "truth." Even though there are certain truths, we need to admit that we may not know those. For example: Newton's theory was built on by Einstein who's theory of relativity is now widening to include a non-constant for the speed of light. So maybe we would be better to say that before a paradigm shift the TRUTH is relative to our knowledge. Once we learn that Truth has one more element into the equation then our paradigm shifts because we build on what we already proved as truth. That's why everything in science and math are called "theory of ____" because we need to always be ready to accept the next proof. This is where religion and science separate. With the Bible or Torah religionists believe that "ALL" you need to know was written long ago.
"What is truth" may be the most profound rhetoric of the Bible.

RubyTuesday, I believe you mean well, honest I do, but I've had more than enough "well meaning" friends explain how to get a balanced body and brain chemistry with diet and excercise. And I'm really glad to know that this works for some... but of course not all who try it.
The WTS used to publish articles like the ones you mentioned. They oversimplifyed in order to down play the seriousness of depression. Depression of any kind ESPECIALLY in children (as your links related to childhood depression) should be acknowledged as the illness it is, whether caused by genetics, diet, or environment.
Biology is a funny thing. Some patients react well to say, Wellbutrin, while others developed severe reactions to that medicine. The population of children on zoloft have also had serious reactions. I wonder why anyone would continue a treatment which has obviously negative results? I apply this to the "diet and excercise" gurus as well as those practioners of naturopathy(sp?). Many of whom I have at one time or another followed.
Of course, certain sugar related diseases have no cure. I'm thinking of diabetes. Diabetes is at epidemic proportions now in the US. Some is Type 2 and others are Type 1(hereditary; often affecting young children). W/O a pancreas transplant this disease has no known cure, yet. The geneticists are giving us some hope... but who knows?
I developed autoimmune chronic urticaria about 5 yrs ago. The first year I spent on steroids; gained 100lbs and developed type 2 diabetes. When I sweat my hives bloom like crazy and my bronchial tubes swell so I need a machine to breathe for me. When I'm good and stay on my diabetic diet I have horrid headaches and NO energy (which is the opposite to what's supposed to happen).
No cure for diabetes, no cure for chronic urticaria and no cure for chronic depression.
Again, I know you probably meant well. But you are (maybe) still young enough to think that you will have the simple solutions that all young super humans believe in, I hope you are able to keep that optimism when everything doesn't work out.

WT: Three ways a woman can improve her lot
by Sirona inthis is on the watchtower's website.
there seems to be a lot more articles aimed at africa and other places where this advice might be useful, but do they honestly give this sort of stuff out in us and uk?.
three ways a woman can improve her lot.

As I read this article my mind flashed onto various UN sponsored pamphlets and advertizements aimed at the developing world (when did it stop being the 3rd world?) I'm thinking specically of those UN and other relief agencies serving India.
Yeah a lot of stuff goes to Africa too, however, usually the African relief agencies are involved with preventing further spread of AID's (at pandemic numbers by now). Do you suppose the WTS is helping the Aid's orphans? Very unrealistic, yet so many groups with much smaller resouces are making a difference in the aids orphans lives.
Anyway these health ads aren't usually on the internet where the intended audience will never see them. Maybe this is part of public service which the WTS needs to comply with, and they've made damn sure it's nothing useful on the net...sheesh.

Is it harder for ladies to apologize?
by onintwo inyesterday i had a little spat with my wife.
it's all cleared up today.
she's a wonderful gal and we love each other very much.. but one thing kinda bugs me.

Women are usually the first to sincerely apologize if they are wrong. Often the perception that a woman should apologize comes from a man who thinks he's correct when he isn't and so he should apologize. That would be a perfect world. In our marriage I am definitely the first to apologize if I'm wrong. I've found that Mr.Panda does not hand out apologies often ... especially if he's found wrong.
