In EauClaire Wis, we had a costume party either before or after OCt.31 (I guess it was after). On Halloween we usually stayed home or went to a meeting. But Thanksgiving was another matter completely... plenty of turkey for everyone.

Giving up smoking..(again)

its one of the hardest things i have attempted to do......besides the patch (which i am starting) and antipressants is there any thing you have tryed or heard of?
i do want to give this habit up so much for myself and my family......anything would help.

Morton, When I quit it was because I wanted to get baptized (I know stupid me) Anyway, I took a trip home to my smoking family (all except my mom) and inhaled as we sat around the kitchen table and drank tea and schmoozed. My inlaws also smoke like chimney's so I probably didn't actually quit until I left them. But I didn't light a cigarette, which was good (right?)
Sleeping is also a good way to quit

I preached the 'truth' to an active JW, her jaw is still on the ground!
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inwell, the best thing about being a fader is that you can still talk to dubs you meet.
they think they can us the contact to upbuild you and you use it to plant the seeds of 'truth' which is what i did in this situation.. last week when i was at the markets i saw a sister shopping and although i normally avoid dubs, i didn't this time.
i said hello and she was very happy to speak to me.

New Divorce Rules ???
by jazbug ina friend of mine is getting a divorce because her husband is questioning the wts...he's sick of the cover-ups...in light of a new elder abuse case here.
she says she can't lie with someone who is going to talk against the wts..so i asked her how she could get a divorce for those reasons.
evidentally, the co came to talk to her and because she can't get govt.

I hate the WTS because of stuff like this. I think the WTS should be held responsible for ruining peoples lives.

Do you do any volunteer/community service work?

Yes Yes Yes... I have one Junior Girl Scout troop and we do community service projects. For example this weekend we'll be out in front of Walmart collecting stuff for Project undercover. It's for kids in our county and we collect new underwear, socks etc., I also do free math tutoring at the local library. And reading for headstart kids.
It is amazing how wonderful I feel about giving. Do you remember when the WTS told us giving freely in FS was the answer to our woes? They got the giving part right but giving so it matters.

Because if it is then we're talking about 3,650 years of days... but since there are no zero years we must subtract the minor ridiculous from the greater ridiculous ... then oh I almost forgot to subtract the square root of the days of years (can they do square roots at Bethel?) and then add the number of gem studded gates of Jerusalem... Yeah that should give us the date ...

Morton, How wonderful !!! Just remember that even if you end up puffing away again you will have x-number of days sans the tar and nicotine. You'll do fine once you get on the right combo of meds. Relying on only one medication won't work, you'll need the back up (so I've been told).

Else, You have handled this perfectly. Why should you hide your story when he's got his right out there on the desk? The simple fact that he displays his religion is an open invitation to ask, will you discriminate because I disagree w/ you.
What would be fun is that CoC idea. Have a copy out on your desk, w/ your own name label. Leave it there at all times. Since his Bible and WT are out he can't complain and maybe he's already read the book and can't wait to talk w/ you about it. Way to go buddy ...
