I just found out that my boss at my new job is a JW!!!

Earlier today I walked into his office to ask him a quick question? and there they were? the NWT and WT on his desk. He even had a sticker on the WT with his name on it!

It was odd? I noticed the NWT almost instantly in the corner of my eye and did a double take. I just couldn?t believe it! I said: ?Wow! Where?d ya get that?? He said, ?What??? I said ?That. (pointing to the NWT) Are you a Jehovah?s Witness??. He said ?yeah?? and I responded with a big smile ?wow? that?s amazing? I used to be in that? I was raised in it.?

I'm not going to give him a hard time... hell... I gotta work with him and he seems like a nice guy. I'm just wondering why he was swearing and talking about smoking the other day. I just hope he doesn't go into "Super JW Mode" and start acting all holy around me.

Elsewhere. You should have kept your past identity a secret. That way you could spy on him and report back to us. Now he's going to act like he's at the Kingdom Hall when you're present. Booooo.

Yeah... two weeks in and I'm already worried about my boss hating me for something non-work related.

Hell, he was swearing and talking dirty the other day when we were out to lunch... I'm hoping he isn't a die-hard JW... though the name sticker on his WT was not a good sign.

When in doubt, tell the truth - but there is no doubt here - LIE! Make up a backstory quick, dude! You gotta give him room to have no expectations of you...you were raised by wolves, or something :)

Anyway, how 'bout that, swearing, etc....and he turns out to be a dub. And yet, who among us is surprised? Not me, that's for sure.

Yeah, I know I probably should not have mentioned anything... but the whole situation caught me by surprise and I just reacted as myself. Hell... I responded in a upbeat way, so I doubt he will be defensive. He will likely see me as a potential "re-recruit" which I will quickly and politely turn down.

I'm really not too worried...

Wow Elsewhere! I probably wouldn't have said anything either, but good job with your "informal de-witnessing!" Hopefully by your actions you will be able to convert him.

LOL about the sticker. I never did that, but I had a custom bound NWT with my name on the front.

Yeah, I wouldn't want my boss to know mainly because I would be afraid he would be out to get me.

But just be yourself, watch your back and document anything he says, religious or otherwise. Other than that you'll be fine.
