  Enishi, Being washed clean in the blood actually goes back to the ancient worship of childbirth. Before the patriarchal gods nature was like a god, procreation was divine. And there was a fear of women who could bleed and not die. Many men began rites of bleeding to immitate womens mentrual cycles which used to coinside with the lunar cycles. Barbara Walker has written some about this, some others too.

  In ancient religions women and snakes represented wisdom. You can see why the bronze age god of war wouldn't like that, even in Egypt the god's wife was always in the house of Pharoah. In fact, women had previously been the king makers. Oh gosh so much to read but worth every second.

  i guess because there are so few brothers in the congregations, sisters start writing to brothers that are in prison.

  in prison, these ne'er do wells have no bills, no job to commute to, 3 meals, a bed, free medical insurance and loads of time to read the bible and the wts publications.

  Badger, They have concealed the childs identity, etc. BUT the marriage record has the mothers real name, so if someone wanted to they could find the kid. Yeah, can you imagine finding out who your father was? "Well sweetie this is a photo of your Dad. Wasn't he handsome? He was executed by the State for crimes he never committed." HEY! I wonder if Mrs.Bundy is a dub?

  I loved the last known reporter to have personally interviewed Jehovah , really funny. Wasn't there a Jehovaq thread awhile ago about him leaving his religion a going out on his own (something like that), I enjoyed that one too.

  Public Library and Creationism ... UGH

  i got upset at our library yesterday.

  i found a video tape titled evolution what's in your childs textbook (well thats not the exact title but close.

  ) i asked why they bought this, the answer : it was a donation.

  You see this is my problem. Creationism is not "the other side" of Evolution. Evolution has no "other side". Evolution is science not religion. Creationists seem to think that fantasy should be taught to our children as a possibility. That is wrong not to mention uinfair to the kids. I believe you will find that sound reason , science, and paradigm shifts will always produce scientific proofs. Creationism is faith based. There are no accredited scientists who pose otherwise.

  You know if you keep creationism in religion and quit trying to pit it against valid science I thjink there'd be no problem. Have we come so short a way from the Scopes(sp?) trial?

  Also, our library only purchases books that the locals will read, so we're talking about a huge section of fiction. But hey Oprah reads fiction right? Also a large childrens section (which is good), no books on evolution. It's a poor county so donations are important to fill the shelves. I will donate some books soon (I'm trying to get a few HS science teachers involved). So we'll see. But it's very sad.

  The lost congregation, or something else?

  while i have seen on many occasions the benefit of sharing our past problems, or life, with others who have been through the same.

  i am very curious as to what the real benefit would be, to leaving a religion of such control and segregated thinking, only to venture online or in person to others who are basically a lost congregation of the religion.

  does it benefit a person to seek out former jehovah's witnesses?

  Welcom Spiritwalker, very nice name!

  By coming to this forum you are not replacing anything from your life. We are all of us our histories, and this is just the next place for you to be in finding out how other folks think. The terrific situation here is the differences btwn ppl ideologies etc. You will find plenty of debate and good humor. Debate doesn't mean hate, it's spirited and refreshingly honest. As JW's contrariness meant Satanic it only stands as your opinion here.

  Another great thing is that you don't have to be here everyday or everyweek ... stay away, post don't post, your obligation is to yourself not everyone else.

  Of course the internet has it's own code of manners. We've all found out what those are and how to respect others. Not that everyone does that, but then again so what... if we are striving for diversity we should be glad a the differences.

  remember when you were in the troof, and had the thoughts of paradise erf continually being pounded into your head?

  you'd be able to pet lions, eat fruit, and smile, but there were things that were going to be destroyed at armageddon.

  But I can tell you for sure, after living in the rural US that dreams of farming must comeout of some strictly urban imagination to consider that paradise. No thank you.
