Sheila, Oh I am sorry for you. The pain of putting down a pet is so heartbreaking. Our vet always allows me to stay while I hold and pet my critter. They die very peacefully. But when he says "Her heart has stopped she's gone." I want to scream, but I don't. So today my heart will break a little bit with yours. Panda

It was in 1992, 386 something or other or was it 286? I remember that it was a dot matrix printer BUT had color!!! It took hours to print anything and forget the internet. I could walk away clean the house come back and a web site would still be dowloading. That was 4 pc's and a laptop ago.

It's ok, we'll muddle through, somehow. No one here wants you dead. We need live cyber-typers. Hey that almost sounds like cyber-tigers ... which means you are powerful enough to get through lifes bullshit. Good, now we've got some good yin and yang to float.

Online judgementalism
by logansrun inin my year and a half as a member of a couple ex-jw forums i have seen what i perceive to be a massive error on both my part and the part of others.
the mistake is this: judgeing someone simply from their on-line personality and statements.
i see it time and time again.

Brad, That's all well and good. Yeah we do need to think before we type. But sometimes you've got to call jerk a jerk. Everyone knows who's putting on (well mostly). Some posters want to flame. It's their reason for living.
I'm really the same person on or off the net. It's tough enough juggling the real me without adding some more. Why people want to get on a forum just to make themselves and others miserable is beyond me. But that's the way it is in cyberland.
We have knowledge and intuition to support our judgements. We all judge everyday. Every person we see or talk to, we make a judgement about them. We form our opinions by our judgements. The presumptions we attach to others are part of our survival skills. Giving someone the benefit of the doubt when they attack someone else isn't right. When one person verbally beats up on another, not by debate but personally calling into question, oh, say their sexuality. Heck, it's like the bully in the school yard.
If you don't want the words you type to represent who you are then, don't type them. If you choose to mis-represent yourself by your words then expect to get called on your words.
Of course there's more to this, but I'm plum tuckered out tonight.
This is a good thread I hope we keep it going... any philosophers here?

Stephen, Once there was an amazing surge of magnetic gravity which pulled elements together in the universe. The strength of the energy was such that even the bound elements exploded outward. The elements still had their properties and the magnetic gravity still pulled because now there was plenty of mass to create more gravity. Certain masses became "super" heavy and collapsed (imploded) scattering more mass. Some of these super heavy masses had continual chemical reactions. These reactions did not need oxygen to burn. The heaviness of the stars magnetic gravity drew large masses of less dense materials into orbits. Galaxies were formed. Some of the orbiting less dense materials were too close to stars and so never had an atmosphere, or their particular chemistry and/or distance from the big nuclear reacter (let's call ours the sun) left them freezing by night and boiling by day. So in our solar system (again named for that big giant heater 93,000,000 miles away) one planet was warmed enough for the H 2 0 not to evaporate yet be able to change from solid, to liquid ,to gas; and the gravity of the sun coupled with the Earth's own gravity allowed for atmosphere. The atmosphere protected this planet from radiation. There was wind from the weather created by the sun. There were volcanic upheavels which moved the elements of star dust around, and moved huge continents on their plates. Do you imagine anything grander? After millions of this forming and stability/instability of cycles, a very tiny bacteria took hold. It's cells divided when it was at optimum time. There had probably been many cells which never made it past a few cell divisions. But this one little guy did it. Elements were always there, combining and recombining. That strongest speck was the beginning. If you want to know more about the incredible ability of one single cell read "The Selfish Gene" by Dawkins.
I hope this will help you to understand the wonder of our universe.

Refuting the whole WT Org in one question...
by Confucious ini'm testing my hypothosis here.... the question is this.... "does the wt org.
get special revelations from god today.".
if they answer "yes," then they are going against the bible which says that all scripture is complete.. if the say "no," then we can say, "then why do you say we should follow you.".

NwS, Are you an anarchist.. no moderation? Silly but I've got to tell you that everything in a society is moderated. And you have to pay those moderators (taxes). Anyway, Bye (or not if you're foolin' with our hearts)

Dealing my own sexual abuse
by Valis ini've mentioned it a few times, but between the ages of 5-7 i had my two female cousins living with me.
my parents were doing them a favor by letting them live there, but what they didn't know was the prior sexual abuse and molestation by members of their/our family...well, it is in my opinion the trickle down theory of abuse and i also know and remember doing some of the same things with my own siblings even a couple years after they weren't there any more.. i often ask myself.
am i responsible for that?

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I know that sexual curiousity is normal. We also had 2 girl cousins come to live with us. Their Mom had polio and was often in a hospital for treatments. Let me tell you this story my 2 cousins told me:
Both girl cousins were young teenagers. One of my 5 brothers (a year younger than the youngest cousin) tried to get into first one then the others underpants while they were sleeping. Eventually, he began to molest me. I wasn't much older than 2.

Dear Brothers, You've certainly heard the rumor that we give cars away to the most faithful. Well that may be true. But now the average publisher has a chance to purchase a pre-owned car. This car may or may not increase your fieldservice time. This car may or may not grow wheat (wink wink) for your family. You've heard the stories, why not find out for yourselves. Oh and this car leasing business is nothing like what Christendom does w/ their
suckersadherents money. No we offer these cars for your own good, think how much more Jehovah will get done when you buy this car. BLAH BLAH BLAH...Hey Silent seeker welcome and can we see the rest of your correspondence. Dear Brothers good grief I'd like the R/F to see this...

Can anyone confirm this? New congregation consolidation 'unofficial' policy
by truthseeker ini recently was told by an elder in queens, that there are so many young people being df'd, marriage problems and divorce, that some congregations in the queens, bronx and manhattan areas are very small as a result of the above problems.
he said that there is an unofficial policy of the gb, that they don't like congregations with less than 75 publishers.
as a result, some kingdom halls are being sold and congregations with few publishers are being consoloidated with bigger congregations.

WOW... everyone leaves and then what? Everyone at Patterson gets to split the $$$ and head for Paradise Island? They probably won't do more than liquidate Brooklyn which has got to cost tons of cash every month. They will import
workersbrothers from developing countries to devote years to the publishing company. As an entity they won't go away, they have way too much to collapse. Some enterprizing WTS lawyer will find a way to control the assets, and he'll become the new head of corporate. The very saddest part of the DELETED congregations is that the R/F don't get it, they'll think it's Satan *yadda yadda yadda*, and that they need to work harder, they aren't worthy to have a congregation.
On another note: Our local Methodist church is for sale, they are combining with the next town over --- same thing not enough parishners to support the bills. I just love that old church and if I had the bucks I'd buy it for a womens center (and girl scouts) I'd have doctors speak about womens health issues, and kids health too. Oh well, c'est le vie. I don't think I'd want to buy an ugly old KH.
