Logan, I know you will accomplish every one of your goals. Did you know that most Asian countries have English as a second language programs. You'd get paid plus r/b, travel expenses. If you have a Ba/BS in anything they will hire you. You should try it out because from Asia you will find cheap airfare to Europe. I mean cheap, like $76 r/t to heathrow from Beijing. Yeah I know, unbelievable. And I think they have the same teaching deal inTurkey.

Did I get the wrong Christmas Ornaments?
by Elsewhere ini have a small tree so i got a package of small ornaments that are about 2 inches in diameter.
when i bought them i did not notice that the tops do not have hooks like i expected, instead they have very small loops.
these loops are too small to slide on to the branches of the tree, so am i supposed to use little twist-ties or something?

Buy the hooks, they're really cheap and you won't slice your fingers up. However, I've used pretty much whatever will keep the ornament on the tree; twist ties, pieces of wire stolen fromNick's tool box, string, 1/8" ribbon and paper clips. You can even make angels with the butterfly paper clips. I am so excited for you and your tree.

the thing about bethel is everyone lies says they don't remember etc.... these elders have no integrity and they don't care about the well being, goals and reputation of their organization.. they want to have their fun and risk everything and everyones future while hiding out at wt.
even their wives know and keep quiet.

Elders misusing donations for "the Worldwide Work" in Oz
by ozziepost inthe december issue of "kingdom ministry" for australia carries this announcement:.
"as a reminder to the brothers handling the congregation accounts, donations placed in the boxes for the worldwide work are to be remitted monthly and should not be used for payment on a kingdom hall property loan or for any other congregation expense.".

Interesting ... I would've just used the $$$ however my congregation needed it. But then I'm an apostate. But really the way so many KH's are treated by WTS I'd see a real need to not double the $$$ you give them. I mean paying for your KH and NOT owning it, then sending more money along w/ your payment... nice scam.

IMO it is precisely because music changes so rapidly that the WTS is threatened. Music evolves with the youth of the country, and the WTS doesn't want free thinking (or dancing youths). They don't like kids getting on birthcontrol or getting condoms handed to them. WTS hates rebellious nature and new ideas. And they hate the sassy clothes. I mean what other time in our lives would we wear such outrageous outfits, better yet what other time would we look as cute in them.
Like so much of the petty control, this too is stupid and unreasonable.

OMG that poor woman..sheesh, I would complain no matter who was planning those towers. Maybe she can sue her realtor or builder for not disclosing the WTS ownership of those lots or perhaps even knowing about the plan to build.

I like what Gretchen said earlier, and I agree about the passive agressive tendencies some posters posit. But I also like to engage in a good debate and maybe a bit of reparte(sp?). You get to know a lot about yourself and others when you see what they will or won't fight for in a post.
I have heard from other newly or almostly x-JW's that say this forum is vindictive. I don't see that as a huge trend and I don't read topics that appear inflammatory (anymore). Venting is important, helping dubs is important, and participating is important. So what's the answer? IMO being myself is the best for me and everyone else. But not everyone is as comfortable in their skin. I also believe that the many younger ex-dubs are still working to see who they are, and hurting because of the fresh wounds from JW parents and congregations. I forget who said "Once tortured, always tortured." I think it is more difficult for those ppl raised as dubs. The rest of us had another way of life to look back on, or return to after leaving the WTS. I always think of those kids who are locked in rooms for 10 yrs, never learn to talk, never get socialized, and just plain cannot deal with life outside the cage. Well, WTS raised kids have some of the same issues and they really need to give themselves a voice. So it's a bit like learning to play an instrument ... a bit irritating at first but eventually worthwhile.

I thought God stopped working on the 7th day. AND Jesus never knocked on anyones door.
For me the door to door preaching was a duty to Jehovah. I didn't love it, although I liked the friendships of the other pioneers. I hated saturdays because I was always stuck with someone who wouldn't talk at the doors. Everyone thought that the pioneers had to do the talking. I always felt like, give me a break I've been doing this and working my 2 jobs all week.
The WTS uses the preaching work as a guilt prod. You will never be able to do enough. And that's actually true in the sense that everyone in the world will never hear the WTS message. Although they'd like all of those developing nations with uneducated people to hear it.
Counting time was (I confess) a priority. Dubs looked over each others shoulders to see how they counted their time. One sister used to say "you must stop your time now we're on a break..." there's always one. And if someone didn't like you clothing or hair they would say it wasn't what Jehovah would accept as spiritually encouraging. So much backbiting and favoritism. And gossip OMG car groups were arranged with gossip possibilities in mind. And always someone was in the back of the van and never got out, but they had a full day in service. Oh man Minimus, why did you bring this up?
