At first I was cautious. That lasted a very short time and before long I was under a mountain of debt. I'm talking several CC and add to that MrPanda's CC, we used 'em for everything. Now we don't have any and we're almost---working towards---getting there. This time never again means never again .

Do you have Chronic Urticaria (hives)? I've been dealing with this since Feb 1999, 7 years. The Yahoo group I'm on has many members from the UK. So we're always comparing healthcare systems. It seems neither one is really great. And for Chronic Urticaria sufferers doctors on both sides of the pond prescribe drugs to mask symptoms; but not finding a cure. Some people have had this for over 20 years. What causes it? No one seems to know, yet. Without a known cause it's called Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria. I keep hoping that some new research will break this up forever. So far the treatment that works for me has been steroid therapy (prednisone), but the Dr's won't give me anymore because of liver and kidney damage (which I don't have but they say can develop.) I hated the side effects but man was it great not to be itchy. The next step is methltraxate (an immune suppresent that is usually given to transplant patients). This has worked for CU sufferers in England and Australia. So, now it's catching on in the US. But once again there is danger of liver trouble. And consider what the rest of the body would do with a suppressed immune system.
The hives are accompanied by angiodema (swelling of soft tissue ie., mouth, eyes, ears, throat; and also hands and feet). The hives migrate and cover various parts of the body at different times. The hives and angiodema last for about 4 days individually, BUT they are never really gone because new hives appear before the old ones are gone.
I never used to get sick at all. Maybe a cold once a year... this can happen to anyone .. I really wish it wasn't me though.

My Questions about the US.
by ballistic inmy god, there's going to be so many - so rather than spam the board, i'll put them all here... any help appreciated.. .
what is the best mobile phone (cell phone) to buy when you arrive in the us that has coverage right from the east to west coast and central regions?
the phone itself will get ditched after the trip, i just need one that's cheap to use.

Ballistic, It is generally illegal to pass on the right, except in Texas where everyone uses the shoulder of the road to pass. At a Stop light or Stop sign it is legal to turn right AFTER you come to a complete stop. Sometimes there are "turn only lanes" which will give you a green light for you to turn left (often at a busy intersection). Stock up at home for all the little things you'll need to make you comfortable on your trip. Have a great time!
What's the difference between a crossroads and a 4 way stop?

HEHEHEHEh I remember decades ago this whole thing with Michael Jackson. Was he? wasn't he? How sad that the dubs have so little joy in life that they need to grab onto Prince's coat tails.

People like MM will always be good at dishing IT out but never really part of the solution. Actions would speak much louder than his words. A good example dealing with healthcare issues would be Robin Williams. Williams totally bankrolled Chris Reeves medical needs after Reeves insurance gave out. Yup he paid the bills for his friend. Now I'm supposing that MM has some old buddies sans health insurance, is he paying their bills? Or how about funding a clinic? I recall he considered himself a big deal for giving away mens underpants (one per college student), I think college students could use more support. Heck aren't MM's daughters attending expensive Ivy League schools? Maybe he could establish ... sheesh what am I thinking, this blow hard won't do anything for other people.

Extra training ... so you know that shooting babies is WRONG ?!?
by Simon inhow dumb and pathetic.. no extra training should be necessary for even slightly trained and disciplined soldiers.
i guess it is for some of the rabble that the us call "troops" though.. of course the real problem is not just those on the ground that have committed the latest attrocity.
it is the chain of command that tried to cover it up and all the way up to the president who sanctions bombing of civilian targets with nothing more than rumour for "intelligence".. from now on america, you are on your own.

Simon, You love when this stuff happens, don't you? I do like it when you start a thread "so you know that shooting babies is wrong?!?" Gosh there's just so much to throw into the fray OHHHH where to begin ... As Americans we generally don't shy away from baby killing. Abortion. Oh hey you do that in England too don't you? My goodness you'd get beheaded for that in a mohammedan country. Beating your wife or child to death isn't ok in the US or UK; however it's perfectly legal in mohammedan countries. Oh and my personal favorite "honor killings."If I might add a few more comparisons I'll begin with Mr.NumberOneOnTrial for Crimes Against Humanity, Saddam Hussein who killed innocent civilians as a matter of routine, and often in large batches.
The British slaughtered innocent Indians. Does the Black Hole of Calcutta ring a bell?
The Taliban claim support from the Muslim brotherhood because --- well they're muslims, and according to the Mohammedans this is Koranic law. And they don't allow girls to be educated; women to work outside the home so that they starve to death if they are widowed; or espousing any other religious tradition all on pain of beheading.
The murderous cult members in Iraq are not Iraqi. They come from places like Syria, Egypt, UAE, Pakistan and Israel/Palestine. These men (and sometimes women) are generally ignorant or sociopaths. They are feeding the megalomaniacs who proselytise them and often PAY the families for the "sacrifice". It's all quite convoluted. edited to add I almost forgot to mention that I am sincerely sorry that you have to deal with the economics of the Euro. Imagine one currency for an entire continent ... You won't catch us doing that. Is that why you hate America? You know we're related, right? Maybe it's a sibling rivalry ... Big older brother England and younger better looking brother America.

Overheard in a public library
by under_believer inwhen i was a kid, my parents (strong in the truth: father elder, mother regular pioneer) encouraged me to read.
in reality, they could hardly have held me back; i come from a long line of bookworms, including my father.
books were like water.

Shave heads?
by dothemath in.
just a few weeks before the district convention, there was a brother playing a major part in the drama who decided to shave his head.........(there wasn't a lot there anyway) (this happened 3 or 4 years ago somewhere in canada).
as a result, he was told he could no longer be in the drama...........and someone else had to step in on rather short notice.. it seems they still equate everyone with a shaved head as some kind of a "skinhead", belonging to a gang or something.. is this how it's views elsewhere?

Panda
Okay so what are they telling bald brothers? You can't have a part because you're bald? This is just another STUPID instance of the ignorant assholes in charge of
accepting bribes forassembly parts. -

EEEEWWWWWW... how gross is that! Cat YUCK! ... how does one eat cat? That's a rhetorical question. But I admit that I've partaken of dog and rat (really big rat), and some big black and yellow snake (you get to choose them live just like fish). But the dog and rat were cooked , smoked actually (no choice there). But I have chronic urticaria so I have to be careful about what I eat.
