I don't believe in the Bible but this is what it means.
Hmm strange...that implies if I don't believe I'm somehow incapable of basic reading comprehension.
that is what i heard last night at my yoga class.
she said for something to be fixed first it must become known what needs fixing.
it is true for the physical, but also for the spiritual i believe.

Yes, I believe it's a crutch for mankind.

Nice deflection from the question Drew :)

Seriously N.Drew? Where do you get this stuff? Where in that passage does it talk about the elimination of anyone? It's talking about someone building a tower in defiance of God. I wish I was there to help in the building effort.

This really is a fascinating subject. If you look at electric cars and how much rare earth has to be mined and energy to create the batteries it's really a travesty that people accept this a better solution to what we have currently.
http://theweek.com/article/index/216263/are-electric-cars-actually-bad-for-the-environment
Because of pollution from the factories that make batteries, an electric car has a bigger carbon footprint than a gas-burning vehicles until it's traveled 80,000 miles, according to the research, which was financed by the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership.
Not only do electric vehicles produce just as much carbon in their overall cycle as internal-combustion engines, the need to replace the batteries actually makes them less green than current technology." If we want a cleaner way to get around, "the answer is natural gas, not electric vehicles.

Funny if you apply the title of this thread to religion, bible and God, it makes so much more sense. Imagine how free and liberted the human species could be, and how far they could go without this nonsense.
Even the bible agrees with this.
And Jehovah proceeded to go down to see the city and the tower that the sons of men had built. 6 After that Jehovah said: “Look! They are one people and there is one language for them all, and this is what they start to do. Why, now there is nothing that they may have in mind to do that will be unattainable for them. - Gen 11:5
Ditch the God crutch, be free.

Good points WTW. I hate flouresent lights in the house it is the most dingy and ugly light, and the gubermint wants to force this toxic crap down our throats.
I've always liked the really bright as the sun halogen torch lamps. They really have the best light quality which I'm a finatic on. A couple of months ago we needed a new lamp for our den. It was quite a chore to find anything on the market that could even come close to the light output of the halogen torch lamps. I finally found one but I had to pay a hefty price for such a rare gem. My advise is buy the good lighting products while you still can, guns too.
jehovah in the old testament and jesus in the new testament are one and the same.. .
3. jehovah is salvation.
5. jehovah wants only himself to be worshipped.
But it is so very ugly, because rebellion against the God of Love is so very ugly, and we are so very ugly in our sins. The Bible tells us so: we are DEAD in trespasses and sins (Eph 2:1), we are leprous, quite throughout infected.
I read the whole thing much differentely than the bibles narrative. I did not ask to be born so why should I automatically be so ugly in Gods eyes? We're so ugly because God wants us to feel that way, so we are forced to feel guilty and kiss his arse for all eternity. God will settle for nothing less than every soul bowing to what he wants or die. Where is the freewill? Does it seem rational to hold someone's child accountable for their parents sin? And what exactly does Christ the redeemer save us from, having freedom?

This is brilliantly logical. The more you study the bible and think about it all, the more apparent it becomes that God only cares about himself; and he won't accept anything less than every creature bowing to him for eternity.
