@*lost* - I'm not nit-picking or wanting to argue, make myself clear on that. I am just interested in hearing other peoples points of view on things. Helps me learn and gain perspective.

I can respect that. Have you given much thought to how the bible defines what "good" is? I'm sure most would agree on: be good to your neigbor, don't murder, molest, lie, cheat and steal etc; but according to bibles logic if you don't put god first in your life, and perhaps disagree with him, or don't really bother to get to know him, the bible classifies you as evil. For this unspeakable evil , you receive the same punishment of non-existence as serial killers and rapists. Do you not find that highly controlling gun-to-your-head stance offensive, given that you're supposed to have free will? If so why?

tropical peru is home to ice formations 18,000 feet up in the quelccaya region, the largest of these tropical region ice sheets.. the glacier is melting so quickly that plant samples are having to be frozen artifically so that scientists 30 years from now can have something to study, lonnie thompson from the university said in the interview.

the ice field is the smallest it has been since the last ice age.. peruvians rely on the water from the glaciers, which will be reduced by 50% in their lifetime.

Having said that, we are a sideshow - Mother Nature cares not for our theories and calculations.

Exactly, mother nature has always been cruel in her randomness. I think the only thing we can do is adapt with the earth -- it's not like homo-sapiens ever had a choice before. Even if we stopped all burning of fossil fuels right now, at some point mankind will have to deal with the earth changing and the melt of the ice -- because it's happend before without man, and it will happen again. I have no doubt that earth will redraw its land borders over time and reclaim coastal cities or bury inland cities, and there is nothing that we can do about that, except adapt. No doubt future technological breakthoughts will make dealing with earths changes easier.

Too-tired-tocare .......... in all fairness, what would you suggest as a viable answer to rid mankind of wickedness (real wickedness) ???

Murderers, rapists, thieves, abusers, kiddy fiddlers, etc ... the list goes on. Prisons are over-flowing. Crime is over-flowing. What would you do with them all. Just curious?

Although there is some real sick whackos out there, statistics plainly show that crime rates have come way down in recent decades, so I don't think your description of "over-flowing" crime is entirely accurate, perhaps evolution of thought, less poverty, or less testosterone has helped.

The short answer to your question is I don't think it's ever possible to completely remove all evil as long people have freewill. I do however think there is much we can do to mitigate it by things like CantLeave mentioned, and break throughs in science that would eliminate much of the disparity between people (which is often the root of crime) like this :

Perhaps the 98% need to do a more effective job of explaining how the temperature rose and much of the ice melted 125,000 years ago when humans were not even material in that process, and then explain why changes on the earth always must be perceived as a problem that mankind has to do something about.

If I love God, and I love my neighbor, and I mean REALLY do those two things, then who would I ever be harming? What if EVERYONE did that. It's the hypocrisy that needs to go IMO.

Seems reasonable at first blush, but perhaps Jesus should follow his own advice, and really do unto others as he would himself, and not become the chief agent of death with his long sword, treading the winepress of gods anger in a fiery vengance as Revelation and other bible passages bring out; assuming that you believe that sort of thing. You have to ask yourself why does the god of the bible intend to kill everyone that doesn't see things his way, when he is the one that gave them freewill?

In the video they make the point that they have evidence that 125,000 years ago there was a major meltdown that melted past most of Greenland. They then go on to say that we are close to that same event, and that the only explanation for it is the burning of fossile fuels. So if it happened 125,000 years ago, and no fossile fuels were being burned, what is the explanation for then?

Really, are we so arrogant that we think we can actually control earths cycles of change that have been happening for millions of years?

2014 Event

i know its a year away but i wanted to inquire about the hundred year anniversary of 1914. it would be amazing to have a world wide event reguarding all exjws.

i am nowhere near capable of putting this together but i'd like to propose the largest assembly of exjws ever on october 1st 2014. can it be done?

am i the first to bring this up?

If several thousand of us banded together and held a protest right behind the governing body's headquarters (25 columbia heights) at the Brooklyn Bridge Park, it would definitely cause some major embarassment for WT$. Add to that getting a few media outlets to cover it, and some real damage to their image might be done.

I've always found it quite curious that they changed it from "global warming" to "climate change". I think we have bigger problems as a species like getting a colony setup on another planet before organic life is wiped of this planet by some rouge meteorite as it has been in the past.

3rd Oil Spill This Week

exxon, shell, and canadian pacific railway all had oil spills reported this week.

exxon and shell's oil spills were from ruptured pipelines and canadian pacific had a railcar accident.. the exxon spill flooded streets and the yards of homes outside of little rock arkansas and the shell spill occured outside houston texas near the vince bayou.

residents of the little rock community never knew that high pressure pipelines ran under their homes which is a disturbing fact being discovered more and more.
