have you ever come across words that resonate with you?
it doesn't have to be a great gem of wisdom, just something that is meaningful to you.. please share, and if you want to, tell us why it's meaningful to you.. here is something that made me nod when i first read it.... .
"fortunate are those who have learned to see, in the wild things of nature, something to be loved, something to be wondered at, something to be reverenced, for they have found the key to a never-failing source of recreation and refreshment".
Idiocy: Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. -Despair.com
Procrastination: Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now. -Despair.com
Consulting: If you're not a part of the solution, there's good money to be made in prolonging the problem. -Despair.com

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another. -Anatole France
I just saw this the other day while reading a book. For me it captures feelings of bitter sweetness of getting what I wanted in leaving the WTS while overcoming the sadness over loss of family/friends and community and and starting anew.
this is the exchange of text messages i had with my super spiritual brother.
it is sad... it is pathetic... it has helped me realize that i have no connection to these people anymore.
i feel free today.
You might want to think about your long game on this one. If you do loan them the money you can use this in future disputes with your siblings (if any). You can use it a point of reference to show that you (the DF'd one) were the one who provided for them in their time of need not their uber JW loser son. If you do lend them money though I would suggest getting the terms in writing, and indicate that this money is 1) not a gift from jehovah 2) and none of it will be donated to the wt$. If you can spare the money, it might give you a sense of satisfaction that you acted as the bigger person. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

CAA - Nice job handling your brother, I feel the same way about my uber JW sister. Sometimes you just have to call them on their BS and put them on notice so that you don't have to pretend to like them anymore. The way you handled the elders is priceless; putting them on the defensive right at the start worked well. Those elders are such pious idiots starting off with a prayer like that. You've inspired me to want to have a confrontation with the elders the next time they come knocking.
i found these questions that were part of a theocratic written review for the week of february 24, 2003 that are in need of updating:.
multiple choice: the faithful and discreet slave mentioned by jesus at matthew 24:45-47 is (a) the governing body of jehovahs witnesses; (b) all anointed christians as a group on earth at any given time; (c) jesus christ himself.
back in 2003 the correct answer would have been (b) all anointed christians as a group on earth at any given time.
That 3rd one is devastating to whatever authority argument they try to use.
given the ot has a lot of cruelties, hatred and so on, surely the fact these attributes, saying and actions far outweigh the supposed love of jesus why dont they say its all fake and throw it out ?.
like what marcion did.
wouldnt it be easier to simply delete the ot and move on ?.
It's kinda hard to do when Jesus legitimized it all by quoting from it so often, to do that they would have to redact many verses of the gospels and apostolic letters.
as most of us know, the society is spending 10's of millions of dollars on a giant, state of the art, secluded bunker country club headquarters in very remote, isolated warwick ny.. the question that "some" have is, why?
if armageddon is coming "very soon", why go to all that time & effort & expense?
why have thousands of jws dedicating their time to this massive effort instead of the "lifesaving ministry"?.
@LG - Sounds like a lack of faith in Jah, surely he could save a few buildings across the river????
That's exactly what I was thinking, actions speak the loudest and it looks like even the GB are silently admitting that they were wrong and/or that they no longer have faith in jahoober's "secure height" of protection.
i saw this, and laughed for a good while and had to share it, i don't know what is wrong with me...lol.. .
Yes who could forget about good aunt Beru?! That scene really disturbed me for a long time when I was 11.
