WTWizard & Toth - So why doesn't the Twelve Visions Party or the liberatarian party have a candidate on the ballot? Is there just not enough support yet?

Political party of maximum freedom
by tootired2care init amazes me that the country continues to support the political parties that have invaded our bedroom, wasted our money, and intruded on our freedom.
in other words the voters still vote democrat and republican, when it is those same parties that have gotten us in the mess we're in now.
it seems most of the issues that people have with the political parties boil down to simply limits and intrusions of freedom, whether it's imposed religious views or overtaxation and wastefulness.. my question is why hasn't there been a stronger movement to build a 3rd political party that has a core philosophy of maximum freedom?

How did/does your congregation view going out to eat AFTER the Memorial?
by OneDayillBeFree infor us it used to be a big no-no, but i think it has slowly grown more acceptable since many of our elders would be starving during the whole reject jesus party.... i always thought it was a bit funny when i saw brothers and sisters almost celebrating with a big feast and drinks on the night that the good ol' messiah sacrificed himself for all humankind!
it seems now more recently that since it is the only thing witnessess can celebrate, they go all out!
maybe i'll join in the festivities too.. so what about you guys?

I've been in several congregations and it's been about 50/50 in my experience. As a teenager we'd usually always go out after the memorial, of course there would always be brother overzealous who would make some lame speech or comment about it. A couple of times my dad tried to make me feel obligated to be in serious mood afterward. We got invited over to someones house tonight for after memorial, where i'm sure plenty of wine will be consumed

Jesus and Satan - Brothers?
by moggy lover ini am researching some material and would like to get my facts right.
i know that the mormons teach that satan and jesus are brothers, but the question i would like to ask is:.
does the watchtower teach this as well?

No, cyberjesus had it right, Satan is Jesus son.
He delivered us from the authority of the darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of his love, 14 by means of whom we have our release by ransom, the forgiveness of our sins. 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist -- Col 1:15-18

Arizona Pushes Law to Make 'Annoying' Comments Illegal
by leavingwt inarizona pushes law to make 'annoying' comments illegal.
.. what horowitz is saying is that this law could be used as grounds to seek criminal charges against someone who posts a pushy, controversial, or offensive comment on a social networking-site like facebook or twitter.
arizona republican rep. vic williams, who helped sponsor the bill, believes that the law is necessary to protect victims from being harassed online or via text, according to the associated press.. .

Right because FB and Twitter don't have controls for the individual who is being annoyed to de-friend or mute the annoyer, instead we should burden the courts even more...this is just stupid. I seriously think politicians are politicians because the only other job they could get is at the snack bar and this proves it.

opinion needed quick!
by independenthinker inhey guys, .
bringing my gf along tonight after been forced to invite her(shes worldly).
how will people treat her?
-

If your going to take her just make sure to tell her before she gets there the real reason why everyone is going to be so nice to her. Otherwise she'll likely get drawn in by all the attention and then you have a real problem on your hands.

Why would you want to subject yourself and her to that kind of torture when it seems like you don't have to?

Feeling a little weird today
by Bucholz inhello everybody, so i've been out of the wt for almost a year now.
i did go to the memorial last year, but that was pretty much the last meeting i attended.
thing is, as a born-in, i have never missed one, this will be the first.. don't get me wrong, i have absolutely no desire to go back, but after all these years there's a weird feeling about it.

I too am a born in, and I hope that today will be the last memorial that I ever attend. Next year I'll probably be experiencing the same emotions as you. The struggle for physical and mental freedom will probably be the most challenging one in my life. Reading the comments of those in here who have gotten free and feel much better about life gives me a lot of hope though.

Never Forget the Sacrifice!!
by Diest induring this special week i wanted to take a moment to remind the world of a humble carpenter who started with nothing.
but because of his wholesome heart he was given a son through miraculous means.
the children of the world loved this son but his many enemies set out to capture and destroy him, but those enemies could not prevail and in the end, good conquered evil.

Never imagine that this sacrifice is a tool to guilt and enslave mankind to a celestial dictatorship for good!

Mouthy, that's great! Could you tell him to send us an update when he has chance to let us know he's still there and even interested? It's only been two thousand years, and everyone is very confused as to where his footsteps left off.
