The problem is it's very hard to prove! Being in service (sitting in cars and breaks mostly) all the time leaves little time for excercise.

How Do JWs View Gluttony?
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inthis thread is dedicated to the judgemental fat and not so jolly elders and elderettes (non judgemental loving brethren, please disregard!)..
in my county, some of our appointed brothers and sisters are suffering from obesity, eating disorders and heavy drinkings.
what is the best way to approach brothers in charge, who are morbidly overweight, don't care about their physical appearance?

Do You Know C.R.A.P. ?
by Perry inthere is no shortage of ex-elders, behelites, ex-circuit overseers on this forum that continue to spout their hatred for christians, even as they did while leading their former adherents down the same path.
the new religion for these preachers of paradise, is materialism.
in their view, science is the arbitrator of truth.

3.5 years vs. a lifetime of going door to door.
by tootired2care indid it bug you as a witness that jesus only had to go from door to door for 3.5 years, and he was done; while he demanded that you do it for your whole life without preparing for the morrow?
i just remember a few years back reflecting on the daunting prospect of doing it my whole life if the end didn't come - "sooner rather than later".
what are your thoughts?.

Sorry if I seemed hostile, it wasn't meant to be hostile, just flip, these threads don't convey feeling. I feel that the translators of those texts translated it like that for a reason. They are the experts in these fields, and given that it's not just one translation that provides pretty stong evidence that they probably got the text right. I would trust their translation of over any opinions of Ray Franz or whoever. And I will always make arguments from the literal text written in context, as anything more is useless in discussions.
At the end of the day I'm not really too concerned with this, because the life that the bible asks us to live as Christians witnesses or not, is cruel and a pointless waste of time and potential. Perhaps I should have titled the thread "3-5-years-vs-a-lifetime-of-preaching", does it really matter? Market place to market place, door to door, the annoying labor intensive, no-gain work is required of a Christian is still the same for all practical purposes, is it not? Can you really say you're a true Christian if your not activley preaching in some form? Matt 6:33 and other such texts that give you the impression that God is somehow magically helping you with this work is crap.
The last 2,000 years of history and confusion from all religious texts have plainly shown that all religion is futility and only produces bad fruit in the end. Thanks to people like Christopher Hitchins, and the many people on this board that have helped me on my path to freedom.

The Path to FREEDOM
by SweetBabyCheezits ini realize i peddle carl sagan like christians peddle jesus but i think every one of us who has survived the watchtower, regardless of our current beliefs, should be able to appreciate this.
in the path to freedom (chapter from one of his books), sagan was discussing frederick (bailey) douglass's life in the early 19th century and his quest for literal freedom.
see if anything here sounds familiar:.

SBC - What are your thoughts on Christopher Hitchins? He is my Carl Sagan equivalent. The way he expressed things just made so much sense, and helped me realize that worrying about God is not useful whatsoever.

I think this video expresses quite well the sentiments of how many people including myself feel about ALL religion including the JW's; when you look at the fruits of religion over all the ages, it's all bad in the long run. The audience survey at the end is very telling.

What could trigger a large proportion of JWs at once that this religion is a scam
by Mr Facts ini am just thinking if there could ever be anything that would raise consciousness in the minds of millions of jws that this a completely hoax.
what could spark millions of them at once, any thoughts?..

If the end hasn't come in a few more years this burdensome life it should happen on it's own, as others have alluded to. In fact in many ways it's starting to happen now.

I can't take it anymore!

I can't leave yet for reasons beyond my control and this is killing me.
Based on what you've said above it sounds like you have a lot of anger. It might not be a bad idea to find a pressure valve of some sort to divert that anger, is there some sports that you enjoy where you could do this? Have you perphaps thought about going to counseling, so you can vent this stuff with someone objective face to face?

Dude, I was just thinking about you about an hour ago and wondering if you were okay, no lie! I'm in the same boat as you in many ways, alcohol, long walks, video games and flakyness at meetings and service help me get through it for now.
How are things going with that chica you were sweet on?

The scripture I quoted above is from the NIV bible (which is unbiased) not the NWT, but I agree with you that it is a modern day re-instituting of what the 1 century cong did according to Acts 5:42, rather than an inventiontion which would imply they came up with it on their own.
