  The true, unsung hero of the Bible....

  my undisputed hero of the bible is known by several names, depending on who you talk to...devil, satan, lucifer, etc.. read it, and you'll find that he was the only one who really stood up for you.. he asserted that you could make decisions for yourself...and told you the very real truth that, just because the piece of meat in your chest stops thumping, you positively do not 'die'.. he was your hero.

  he stood up to a daddy-maniac and said, 'just because you made us doesnt mean you have the right to tell us what to do.

  i thought we were free?'.

  Freedom, it's always a fascinating subject.

  A very similair point to yours is what eventually woke me up. I had the thought of everlasting life in paradise, full of meetings, and bible studies for the ressurected, and being on my knees eternally sorry for my prior sinful state, and that of my forefathers. Sounds wonderful doesn't it? Mans failed course = God's touchstone for control, and eternal dictatorship, freedom who needs it? I found it interesting that in the story that a 1/3 of the angels got bored with doing it Gods way, and decided freedom was well worth whatever the consequences. Think about how much more insight they must have had, and how bad it must have been, for them to make that decision.

  Guns And Self Defense??

  i know jehovah's witnesses can have firearms for defense, but does the church ever attempt to set guidelines on the use of deadly force?

  also, are there jurisdictions in the church where handgun ownership is frowned upon?.

  To the best of my knowledge....you cannot be DF for owning a hand gun. But you certainly will never have "privleges" and you will be known around the congregation as spiritually weak and rebellious.....which will result in a status of semi-shunning

  LOL...I guess that rules me out of great priviledges, oh darn!

  Does God care less about reaching people in these countries?

  They like to have it both ways..."you will not complete the circuit"..."we must wait on Jehovah to open up these lands", but either way the end is close at hand! Go toil in vain!

  Yes good points about the sloth, and what about all of the insects? how did all those insects survive being under water for months? I am so angry at myself for growing up to believe this nonsense and allowing all those wasted years to go by without looking at these stories with a more critical eye.

  Are the Watchtower HQ washing their hands of congregations?

  it seems more and more from what i read that if there is problems in congregations (i.e.

  paedophilia) the wtbts are washing their hands of any wrongdoing and leaving the congregation and its elder's to carry the can.. is that how it is now?.

  I don't think so. Without congregations they have no boasting of increasing numbers (the only thing that keeps them going now) and no revenue streams as others have stated.

  I understand why you need to this, and hope it works out for you. It probably won't be to bad getting re-instated for you because as a women you won't get hounded into cong responsibilities, and you can just chill in the background for your appearances until the announcement. My advice is to talk to others around the information board before the meeting so the important elders notice that you're there, it may help to speed process up slightly.

  Great question!

  I sure don't have any great answers for you, but I have observed this behavior in animals too. We have cats. It's so funny when they are doing something that they are not supposed to , and when you say something or give them a look, the whole countenance on their face changes, and it's so obvious that they know they did something wrong, because they usually quickly escape the situation. As a child I observed that dogs have very similair behavior too.
