So then, are you happy to be compelled to watch two men kissing for an afternoon just because you decided to go into the photography business?

So if for example you're a photographer, and you don't like watching two guys kissing all afternoon at a gay wedding, then under current law you have no choice but to lie about why you are refusing service, or you're in deep sh1t. That is equivalent to forcing one to do work they don't want to do. The current law definitely seems lacking.

BS. How does not wanting to serve a black person constitute freedom of speech? Now substitute gay/lesbian for black.
In that it's his misuse of free speech in a business context that created the problem for him. We all make decisions based upon our own views, and internal thoughts. Apparently we still have that right for now.

The blunder that the photographer made was making his reasons public. Had he kept his reasons to himself he would not have found himself in this predicament, and he would not have had to photograph the gay wedding, and not been in violation of the anti-discrimination law. So basically when you're in a business context, you do not have free speech.

So let me get this right, If I don't like someone (for any reason) and don't want to do work for the them, the government is now saying that it is illegal and forcing me to do it? How is that not like slavery? This is complete nonsense!

WTS governing body changes - how have all those claiming to be anointed been exposed as liars?
by tootired2care inin juan viejo2s recent thread about district overseer and other changes coming this bit was quite intriguing to me.. the governing body will be expanded to 12 to better match the biblical magic number of apostles, tribes of israel, etc.
that will also reset the 'magic number' to 8 needed to get a majority vote to make a doctrinal change.... one of my friends suggests that "annointed" will become synomous with "appointed.
" if a brother is "appointed" to the governing body, then the logic is that he has automatically been "annointed" by holy spirit and would therefore be considered to be part of the 144k.. .

Tootired: some of the members' comments in the thread below indicate that, in practice, this change of the present 'anointed' humanly choosing future 'anointed ones' has been already going on for some years. Maybe this proposed change is just to bring the theology into harmony with the established practice (that's just a thought/possibility, for who knows their real motives for their strange, secretive behavior, anyways?).
If it has been going on for years, they have done a pretty good job of keeping it concealed from the R&F which makes those who participated in the cover-up even worse IMO. Stuff like this makes me so glad I made the right decision to just walk away from this aweful, disgusting, lying cult.
Not so, there have been GB members who were not anointed in the past
This is news to me, who on the gb was not anointed prior to becomming?

I understand that if they expand the GB it means those who come on board must be anointed thus in esscence the GB are "appointing"
Not quite, this is much different than appointments of elders etc. What it does mean is that with this change the GB is now in the business of deciding who is annointed, a job that used to be exclusively the holy spirit's. Even though they may not decide who of the R&F are annointed, just the fact that they decide who any of the annointed are (new gb members) acknowledges that the whole anointing thing was BS all along. In other words, it's either all true in every case or it's all false.
