Hi everyone, the last couple of weeks I have been reading about meditation and have tried several times. One of the times I did a Native American guided meditation and actually had a unusual experience, seeing a wolf and a man dressed in victorian clothing,of course I had my eyes closed but this was different then a dream,it wasn't scary or anything,I hope nobody thinks I'm nuts,,I was just wondering if anyone else has experience with this,,being a Witness most of my life I have been checking out other forms of spirituality, and meditation has been around for thousands of years and seems beneficial to those that do it....Thank you for your thoughts

A Committe Meeting in the 1600's
by scotoma ini missed this when pbs first showed it.
but i saw a segment about religion in america dealing with the trial of anne hutchinson.. it sent chills down my spine.
not because i support the ideas of anne hutchinson but it was a reminder of how backward jw's are.. .

by solomon intoday's study picks on the most vulnerable among us.
the mentally ill. .
the watchtower apparently hasn't learned that depression and mental illness are that a medical condition.

About 12 years ago when I was a active witness and going through a deep depression because of a very abusive marriage,I would go to the meetings with my 2 small children and could hardly sit through some of the talks without crying, severals times I just got up and walked out,,it was no help at all!!!! and I really tried! what did help was going to some therapy and taking prescribed antidepressants,,then I was able to get enough strength to leave my husband and get back into the work force,,now that I have moved on with my life and am remarried to a wonderful man(not a JW) and have faded I haven't visited that dark place again,,,going to meetings and out in service just made my depression worse,at least for me

Did you feel guilty for not pioneering?
by brokethechain ini started pioneering the month i finished high school, and never stopped until i awakened, 17 years later.
it seems like the entire time, there was so much emphasis on pioneering.
every field service meeting seemed to have a part that communicated the message that jehovah would zap us at the big a. or people would die because of us if we didn't have extenuating circumstances (i always translated as bad health or kids, but even then, there were always "examples" of the mom with 5 kids that was pioneering).

yes I did feel a guilty because every assembly would always have a talk about why are you not pioneering, and I did Aux. from time to time,,but I also got my nursing degree and worked as well,,thank god, because the pioneer brother that I married was a abusive, typical know it all,and I had to support my kids and myself when I left him,,,thank god I got some education instead of wasteing my time pioneering

I grew up not fearing old age
by Sour Grapes inas a teenage jw, i grew up believing that i was not going to finish high school nor would i get old and have to die like my grandparents did.
well, i did finish high school, as did my children and my grandchildren and old age has not been kind to me.
i don't like to look at pictures from 40 years ago, from a time when i was healthy and i had the goal of "stay alive till 75.

Sour Grapes I totally relate to you,I'm hitting the big 50 my next birthday and have spent some time being angry about the lies I feed into but growing up a JW thats just how it was.I'm just glad I was able to figure it out and decided to live a normal life like normal people, but it took me till I was about 45 to do so,and honestly I have a much! happier life now,,it does sadden me to see my relatives especially my parents thinking the paradise is around the corner and spending so much of their time and energy for the Society that doesn't give a crap about them,,,,this fourm is such a big help to me and I hope it helps you to know there are others that feel the same as you...

Tim Horton's
by besunny inso both of my kids got a job at tim horton's,,and when i go to pick them up from work i see service car groups there taking a break on a regular basis,,,anyway yesterday when my daughter got home she told me the the most rude people she had to deal with the the car group, and they left a big mess at their table,,what makes it worse is the one girl used to be friends with my daughter when we still went to the hall,,so she was a little upset,,,my question is how can you be out in service and act one way and then while taking a service break be so rude to the worker's,,.
