N.Drew,
first you should know that my original link to berkely wasnt aimed at you. You had a specific question about humans, my link was more about the basic understanding of evolution.
Obviously the simplest answer to why species branch out is because time and environment allows it. Life has existed for millions of years, and over that period, the look and structure of animals has changed drastically because the environment has changed drastically.
Picture if you will, a steady gradient from Yellow to Red. Now in this spectrum of colour there are hundreds of different hues, but there is clearly a steady progression from yellows, to oranges, to reds. If you were to zoom in on the gradient and compare one hue to the one next to it, you would not see any difference. Work your way up the gradient with this method and you will see the same thing. Each hue looks exactly the same as the one preceding it - but you would not think that the gradient was a solid block of yellow, or a solid block of red.
My point being, gradual changes over time can create a very different and unexpected result from the original starting point. Just like the gradual process of a child becoming an adult.
Obviously, since beetle and fruit fly evolution is relatively young, they have evolved, but still remain fruit flies. Over a longer period of time I would expect this to branch out even further.
And watch my video link on page 1 if you haven't already.

That's right folks, if children laugh at a biased, naive explanation of a very complicated subject, it must be untrue!!
7/10 troll for attracting so many comments.
And for those of you nodding your heads to the original post, scientists don't believe monkeys just gave birth to humans, just like they don't believe plasma gave birth to trees. There is no croco-duck! Evolution is a very slow process of trial and error, random mutations followed by non-random selection.

depressed and starting to loose it
by raxxxx insooo... it has been a few good months since i started having doubts and started researching.
now very much convinced i had been lied to and my parents had not done their homework prior being baptised therefore it fucked up my future ... just a bit.
now also had been going out with a jw girl for 1,5 years... and i am starting to loose it... stuck in a lie, delaying the getting engaged because of my attitude towards religion(she knows i had doubts and always have been anti watchtower - got baptized anyway... stupid me - but she doesn't make a big deal out of it... she is not very strong spiritually) ergo i know i am not fit to be head of the house by jw standards... but i just love her too damn much to break her heart by leaving the organization and ergo leaving her.

Leave. You cannot continue to live a lie. The longer you hold out, the greater your self-loathing will become for allowing yourself to continue. The only way to break the cycle is to quit. Once I had figured out as much, I told my parents I did not believe, I would not be attending meetings etc - albeit I was never baptized, or close with someone in the congregation. If she is not spiritually strong, and she really cares about you, she may leave as well.
But I feel like whatever the results will be when you leave, you'll gain a real sense of freedom and control about your own life once the ordeal is over.
Good Luck to you.

Abortion double standards
by Flat_Accent inobviously the wt is pro-life when it comes to abortion, whatever the circumstances (a viewpoint completely devoid of human empathy, a quality which they consider so important) according to the bible, life begins at conception, and deliberately terminating a pregnancy is punishable with death.. but are unborn foetuses going to be resurrected?
no.. it seems that embryo's are 'human' enough for god to be pissed if you abort one, but not human enough for him to care about giving a second chance after armageddon.. another idea that's been repeated to me by several witnesses, is that some children (only the angelic like ones of course, not the little hellions that run around stepping on frogs) will survive armageddon, because they can not have made a proper decision about serving god.
but a worldly woman who is pregnant will die, thus condemning herself and her unborn to everlasting destruction.. a bit unfair isn't it?.

Interesting, sir82 - but I seriously doubt that would even be possible. If he was going to resurrect all aborted foetuses, he'd also have to resurrect all the still-born babies too! I hope the JW's have got plenty of time during the rebuilding work to carry out all these new Bible Studies!!
And no, Amelia Ashton, I don't believe in them either, I'm just pointing out a logical inconsistency.

Has anyone else noticed/thought about this?

Guess the Last Days Are Getting Better
by LostGeneration inyou won't read this one in the wt.... homicide is no longer a leading cause of death in the united states, the centers for disease control and prevention reports.. the leading causes of death in 2010 remained the same, the cdc reported, except for one: homicide.
for the first time since 1965, homicide is not in the top 15 list of causes of death in the united states.. http://www.huliq.com/10473/homicide-no-longer-top-killer-united-states-cdc-reports.

Great find.
I love finding things like this and sending them to my mum. hahaha.
And it completely trashes that comment the WT always bring up about 1:142 children in the U.S. becoming a murder victim. Heck, in 2009 the murder rate was 5 per 100,000 which doesn't really average out to 1 in 142 anyway, but they still manage to keep the blinders on.
Either way, I consider this very good news. Progress!
Thanks for posting this.
