  New name for Awake! magazine

  i told my son that the society is reducing the size of their public edition from 32 pages to 16 pages.

  he asked if they will now call it "half awake!".

  of course, it could be "half asleep!

  Earthquakes in one place after another

  i was thinking about mathew 24:7 - "earthquakes in one place after another" and luke 21:11 - "there will be great earthquakes".

  growing up in the 80's, i could have sworn the retoric coming from the wts was that there would be an increase in the number of earthquakes as the end drew near.

  yet these two scriptures say nothing about an increases in numbers.

  They have always taken that scripture to mean 'increases in xyz'. So they'll plug whatever BS statistic they can come up with.

  Am I a Return Visit? Suggestions needed

  so there i was enjoying saturday kitchen, when i hear a rattle on the door.

  i open it and who should i see but the same jw from last time, and she brought a friend with her.. in her hand was the memorial invitation, and she asked if i would come.

  my words obviously didn't travel far, because she asked me again 2 minutes later.

  Thanks for the suggestions guys. Zid, you're just too much to handle for those poor 'dubs. xd

  I've got an interest in archeology of late - there's been several programs on recently about very ancient civilizations. Particularly the one's in Peru and the Latin Americas which date to pre-flood times!

  But if he does come round I think i'll stick to the topic at hand. I'm not sure what he'd bring to try and debate with me - hopefully its the brochure because I can use my cheat sheet for that.

  Read that scripture in Exodus, too. 'To be sure', that does sound awfully like a volcano. :L

  So there I was enjoying Saturday Kitchen, when I hear a rattle on the door. I open it and who should I see but the same JW from last time, and she brought a friend with her.

  In her hand was the Memorial invitation, and she asked if I would come. I said no. My words obviously didn't travel far, because she asked me again 2 minutes later. I had already explained to her last time that I had been a Witness for 19 years and both my parents still attend meetings. She then asked if she could leave the leaflet with me .

  Something from last time did stick, however. Upon my refusal to take her invite she asked me again about Evolution. We didn't go into much detail but she decided she would send some guy called 'Steve' over to talk with me. "He believed in Evolution too". I assume by 'believe' she means, 'thought it was right but never looked into it until he read our BS orange brochure'.

  So now I'm expecting another knock next week, and I'm sure this sister will be putting down an extra RV on her report this month.

  Do I answer the door?

  If so, what should I ask this mysterious Steve character?

  Your thoughts are much appreciated.

  I am nothing, because I never wrote a letter, and I was not baptized.

  In my own opinion, I am disassociated/apostate because I don't hold to any of their teachings. And I've had plenty of discussions with my parents about my take on Biblical Literalism/Evolution etc. so they know what I think.
