Since significant numbers who post here are of the "fade-away" type, I think there is a hessitancy to register or show up for this type of affair. Any JW who wanted to show up at one of these meeting places and create some headaches for any who might not be ready to be disfellowshipped has only to look for the time and place on the website.

Sure, such a scenario is unlikely and what are we all really afraid of, but many have their reasons even if it is only their own personal paranoia.

I think the over-all concept is brilliant, but doesn't take into consideration the ex-JW sensitivities of some. The private get-togethers organized by email in Toronto seem to have worked out rather well and easily draw a crowd of 20+. Since most are posters from the board or their friends and the emails disclosing locations and times are private, this goes a long way to alleviating the insecurities of many.

People up here already don't listen to JWs and I assure you the overwhelming majority of young JWs here are well on their way out. Canada is also an extremely well connected country as far as the internet goes too.

Old school methods like apostates outside conventions and delivering fliers only irritate people and don't work well here. Believe me, the battle is being fought slowly but surely.

Puffsrule, I was laughing so hard at your opening comments because it is so true what you wrote. I am sitting here in my dirty work clothes having a beer contemplating whether i need to work out more... lol

I guess as far as the whole masculinity/femininity thing goes, we each have our own way of defining what it means to us and there is something out there for everyone that fits our varying versions of it.

I also think that while we have our preconceived ideas of what masculinity/femininity are, the reality of people we meet in life can bring us back down to earth as to what truly make men men and women women.

Bill, whether you are intending to make a point for the media or you are just saying what you feel you need to say, I'm not sure. But at some point you will have to let go and move on. As far as they are concerned the 'game' is over and that they have been unfair or unjust is irrelevant because they are a private club and they make up the rules as they go.

They don't need witnesses or anything to get rid of you because you have given them more than enough. They have disfellowshipped you on a stupid technicality to mask the real reasons. I'm sure you realize these things but I gather you have your reasons for wanting to continue this.

They know you don't really want back in and they don't want you back, so at some point you will realize your efforts can be better focused elsewhere. You have done alot for others and I'm sure you will continue to do much. Please make sure you take care of yourself and your family. They have a way of getting to people and it is just not worth it in the end.

ps...I particularly enjoyed the use of Luke 12:45 in your letter because the Society seems to overlook the obvious implications of this verse.

When each of us set out on this course that we did, there was a point early on when we knew what the consequences of our actions would be. But when you face them head on and you are finally dealt the big 'D' it can be a bit disquieting as a major chapter in your life finally comes to an end.

There is something morally wrong with the WT disfellowshipping these people, but it is unlikely they haven't exposed themselves to the real truth about the WT and it is unlikely they share anything in common with the WT anymore both doctrinally or in the WT's claimed ideals. I don't really see the point in endlessly fighting to be in a "club" whose doctrines and policies and rules you no longer believe in.

This religion has a way of making enemies of the people that loved it the most and who loved it enough to try to make a difference. Nice of them to create a martyr. I hope the march in Brooklyn goes well and sends a strong message.

I spoke to Joe Anderson...

joe anderson thought you'd like to know what caused him to be invited to attend a judicial hearing held in his honor.

fyi, joe sent a copy of his resignation letter to two governing body members, dan sydlik and jack barr, men who joe and barbara were quite friendly with.

he thought that since so much time had passed since barbara's appeal letter was given to the local elders and nothing was happening to bill bowen or barbara, that maybe these gb members were holding things up because of receiving his letter and giving more thought to the whole issue.

It is strange the feelings of loss even when you have to leave behind things you now realize were harmful and destructive. Whether the beauty in the whole thing was real or imagined or maybe it just came at too high of a price, there still was something about it that makes it sad to leave behind.

And then slowly they prove what sort of persons they really were and you realize this whole thing was a facade and you begin to hate it because it not only hurts people, but it destroys their whole lives.

I can't imagine the feelings of betrayal after so many years of sacrifice. But like the other posters' replies, I too have great respect and admiration for the painful choices made by the Andersons in behalf of children.

I don't know how you have managed to evade this committee for so long and the persistence of the WT is absolutely ridiculous. It is too bad that they won't let you get on with your life and leave you alone. But I'm sure their is a ton of anxiety on their part and they are hoping you are a no-show so they can get you the easy way.

You should get copies of the Panorama show along with a few abused childrens' photos and mail it to each elder with a note saying "these are my witnesses". Or how about a petition sent to Brooklyn with a bit of media attention demanding the governing body face a judicial committee where they can answer for a few crimes of their own?
