I thought the latest understanding from the Society was that the Sheep/Goat judging work was not to start until after the Great Tribulation started. Are you jumping the gun here?

  "You will feel his wrath when it is all over." -- Again, this sounds rather hateful, and not in keeping with Jesus commands to "love your enemies". Perhaps we have misunderstood what you mean here, but as a fellow Christian, I can't feel the love.

  my two favorites are a toss up between john lennon's "so this is christmas" and the "little drummer boy" - the one where bing crosby and david bowie are singing together.. love, scully

  I also liked the Pogues "Fairytale in NY", the Pretenders "2000 miles", Silent Night (several versions, but a punked out one by I think Bad Religion is different), Bowie and Bing Crosbie's "Little Drummer boy", Maria Carrie's "All I want for Christmas" (particularly the video..lol), Wham's "Last Christmas" as well as Lennon's "So this is Christmas".

  At least it is nice to be able to listen to these songs without feeling like u are doing something wrong.

  Dude, I have to say your site is still one of the best as far as these sorts of sites go.

  Your replies just crack me up. They sound like they are coming from the WT Society, but just with a different spin. Probably u and Beans compose these things in between beers and tokes while watching the hockey game in your basement.. lol. All u need is to throw in the "warm Christian love and greetings" line at the end.

  I loved the "we love your music Tina Turner" line along with several other brilliantly funny remarks.. lol

  Skills for success

  what do you think are the key ingedients for becoming a successful person?

  i know that the definition of success varies from person to person.

  for one person, it might be having a job that they really enjoy.

  Like you indicated, success is difficult to define. I guess for many people success is some level of happiness and satisfaction. I don't think though there ever is a point where one finally "succeeds" completely when there is nothing left to accomplish and all of one's goals are met. So to me "success" is a journey that never will be completed but is hopefully a string of victories that is enjoyed throughout one's life.

  As for skills needed, I think one must be willing to learn and to be aware of everything that can teach us something. I also think if one truly loves and cares about people that individual will be more successful than a person that tries to succeed at the expense of people.

  Was I a coward?

  right before i disassociated myself last march, i sent an email to quite a number of jw's that contained only a link to an "apostate" website that had been instrumental in my seeing the the truth about the wt.. well, nobody responded to it except for one person, a guy who i hadn't had any contact with my last year in.

  he started out with "yikes, do you know i'm disfellowshipped?

  " he then went on for several paragraphs defending the org, how loving the brothers were when they disfellowshipped him .

  More Wine Questions

  i was just wondering....................... when i open a bottle of wine it seems so fresh and after leaving it for a few days and i come back to it it tastes much better, why is this?.

  also i bought a bottle of shiraz for the first time and i just tried a glass, it tasted different five minuites later than when i first opened it.

  at first i tasted it on the roof my mouth, five minuites later it had this bold and distinctive taste in the whole of my mouth.

  I find a bottle needs to be drank within two days, but usually this isn't a problem Good tips from others on letting red wine breathe a bit before drinking, as well as the right temperature and matching wines to different foods.

  You cannot escape the beer culture in Canada, but the fall and winter season is nice to make the switch over to drinking more wine than beer imo. The spring wine show in Toronto is a blast (much better than the fall one) and good for trying alot of wines without having to buy the whole bottle to see if you like it or not. (Plus the "scenery" is good too and the crowd is classy and friendly especially as the wine kicks in )

  Personally, I like heavily oaked and very dry, full-bodied red wines with flavours like black pepper, vanilla, leather, chocolate as opposed to the ones described as being fruity or tasting like berries.

  the temperature outside the house hovers around freezing while inside i wear only boxers and a tee-shirt.

  *so what* if i get a little chilly!!???

  i'll just turn up the thermostat or get one of several blankets.. when i'm thirsty, i can go to my kitchen sink and get a glass of clear, drinkable water straight from the tap... a luxury in many places in this world.

  my family's portrait is in the illustrated dictionary beside "dysfunctional".

  once upon a time we used to gather together at my grandparents' place.

  at first, that was easy to do since we all lived with my mom (we were her kids, four of us: brother john, me, sister janis, and sister carolyn).
