We are probably many years away from this happening. China is still a manufacturing nation. They are the factory where other nations that actually research and develop products go to get them produced.

Just because you can enslave millions of your citizens and put them in factories at minimum wage while you collect millions, and have no regard about polluting your own backyard, it doesn't mean that you are now close to being the leader of the free world! Oh wait, they are not even free.

Before China is at a point where they can become leaders, many years will pass if it even happens at all. IMO I actually don't think it will ever happen. They will continue to be a cash rich and powerful country, but will never have the clout that the United States has.

Reinstatement via Old Cong.

i've applied to be reinstatement in a new city after attending meetings for a bit.

i wrote my letter and they heard my case.

they were very helpful.

Don't worry. They are simply following what the bible says; you know that passage that speaks about forgiving another brother that says you need to contact the old congregation after waiting 6 months. You know...right in the uhhh book of uhhh umm .. nevermind.

On Tattoos

tattoos may look great for a while on a young person, but as you get older they'll just look plain stupid.

your credibility will fade as you and your tattoo age together.

your skin will be permanently stuck in a timewarp, like some old newspaper headline that once meant something but later becomes meaningless.

Not only will tattoos become quickly out of date but they'll sag and distort along with your skin

Out of date? They have been around for thousands of years, and actually have never been more popular than today. There is no reason to think they will be out of date.

I think the last thing you need to worry about when you 75 or 80 is your tattoos. There will be plenty to complain about, don't worry. Enjoy your tattoos..

US Air Force to Atheist: Say God in oath or dont re-enlist

an atheist airman is being denied the ability to re-enlist in the us air force because he refuses to use the word god in his oath of office, according to the american humanist association (aha).. the unnamed member of the air force refused to take the oath containing so help me god, wanting a secular affirmation instead.

so he crossed out the phrase on his contract.

the airman was told by his superiors that he must swear to god or leave the air force, the aha said in a press release.

It always seemed to me that believing in God and being in the military were completely contrary to each other.

Voting and elections

i've been thinking about the fact that jws dont vote in elections.

the main reason for this, i guess is that they shall not be a part of this world and so on.

there was no election in the times of jesus, so yes i understand that it needs an intepretetion, but why is that intepreted that they shouldnt vote?

I don't think it had much to do with sharing responsability, but more the fact that by voting you are somehow putting trust in human goverments.

The fact is all of us are already putting trust in human goverments. We trust that they will give us the social services we need, and that they provides us protection along with other things. Why should we not get to choose to person who we think will do a better job at doing theset things?

If voting isn't the best way to choose, then why do congregations vote in order to pass a resolution? why does the GB vote when they want to make a decision?

One of the biggest indicators that this campaign is a huge failure, is the fact if you look at the metrics of the website, the global ranking of the website is down 5 spots versus the previous 3 months. What could be worse than this? A decline after such intense promotional activities...wow.

If Jehovah God Really Loved Humans & This Earth How Might He Show It?

What a strange concept. It is akin to a young man who slits his wrists to "prove" how much he loves his girlfriend.

Strange indeed! A god who has the ability to forgive sin at will, decides that he now needs to follow some sort of standard operating procedure and force his son to die, so that he feels he can now forgive mankind for our sins. How stupid!

How are we created in his image? no reasonable person would ask a son to die, in order to convince himself that he can forgive a third party, but somehow for Jehoober the illogical become logical, and the absurd becomes loving

Why was such a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT thing as Internet not foretold in the Bible?

jws claim that even such a small thing as proclaiming 1986 as the international year for peace was foretold in the bible.

this raises the question: why was such a great thing as internet (the influence of which could not even be compared with anything in the history at all) not foretold in the bible?

with internet and tv the world has become literally a global village!.

A better question is what technological marvel of the 20th or even the 19th century was foretold by the Bible?

How about the ten commandments being written on two tablets? Does that count as foretelling of the Apple Ipad?

Heavy metal

i have always loved heavy metal music (thrash metal to be more specific).

since heavy metal is usually associated with satan and occult themes many christians and jws in particular stray away from it.

in my teenagehood i was listened to it obsessively until i started studying and got baptized at age 18 and i started listening to other genres.

I remember when I was growing up, during a public talk, an elder specifically said that ACDC (the band) was satanic music and should not be listened to.. lol
