I'm calling bullshit.
Same feeling here. 170 million? come on. I doubt that 14 elders could raise that money in one congo, one circuit or several circuits.
Besides, big construction projects like that don't start with the idea of 14 elders

did anyone notice this wt's subtle attack on wikipedia?
they wrote (from the 2011 yearbook of jehovah's witnesses, pp.
9-10. source: 'tracing all things with accuracy'):.
Thus, the Writing Department looks to standard reference works, articles written by recognized experts, and books produced by respected publishers."
Yea right! Except when experts don't agree with whatever the Watchtower teaches.
if you walked up to any jw and said "i just spoke to satan" they would think you lost your mind.
while that reaction makes perfect sense in the real world, in wt land it doesn't add up.
here's why i say this -jw's are supposed to believe the following:.
Anyone claiming to have spoken to jesus or satan or any sprit creature is quite rightly labelled "nuts" as you say.
Exactly. And the people who are believers in God or Satan will also think this person is nuts. This means that deep down these people think God or Satan is as real as Santa Claus, even if they seem to claim they exist.
as a jw, did you ever just resign yourself to being destroyed at armageddon because you knew you werent worthy?.
for almost half my life i felt like i was under a death sentence- "a dead man walking.
" i was my judge, jury and executioner.
I think a lot of us went through this. I recall thinking that I would probably die at the big A because i barely preaching; I always despised going door to door to stranger's homes and so I preached the absolute minimum.
I looked at others in my hall who were putting in 30 and 40 hours per month, and i couldn't even comprehend how someone could spend so much time per month doing something so idiotic. I knew deep down i would never get to that level.
earlier this year, i received an email from a jw family member with a link to this video:.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1ruhkgqjug.
i wrote a long reply debunking the video (mostly copying talkorigins info).
@stumbler
You did a really good job in your reply. No reasonable person could be immune to your logic. You know, sometimes people will be reluctant to admit they are wrong in front of you, but will reflect on it and come to that conclusion later on, so give it time.
I went through the same thing recently with an active JW who subscribes to the chemtrail conspiracy theory which also uses obfuscation, half truths, and other techniques to seem more legitimate, and i refuted every single point he brought up. He would send me youtube videos and i would reply with scientific evidence from reliable sources.
These folks are lazy and just choose to take everything at face value instead of checking and dissecting their sources, which is why they are JWs in the first place.
hey guys!
here's what i found to be the best way (for me at least) to debate jw's without earning the laber of apostate.
this is mostly valid when debating jw's that don't know you personally, but it could help with those that do too.
This could well work with some JWs, but my experience is that it never works at all. Saying that you don't even believe in God immediately shuts the door on any type of reasoning with JWs. You are almost worse than not believing in the organization.
In my experience the best approach is when you make the point that you love Jehoober, and want to do what's right, but recognize that the organization is not really doing Jehoober's will, and so you don't want to be a part of it. This concept is intriguing to JWs and it usually disarms them, it makes them think about the separation between God and the human organization, and how a human organization can be flawed.
In any case, once i stopped believing in God this didn't make sense any longer, but I do shamefully admit that to my family i still pretend to believe in Jehoober just so that I have a chance to reason with them.
i've never seen this discussed here, so thought i'd bring it up:.
as far as i can figure, jehovah's witnesses no longer teach that black skin is the result of a curse from god.
instead, they seem to teach that canaan was already dark skinned when his father, ham, brought the curse of servitude upon their family.
Don't ask about the Asians.
Right! or the native south americans, or aborigines, or eskimos, etc. I mean, if you look at the variety that exists in the Human race, you can't possibly think that a few thousand years of procriation would result in such a variety of genetic traits.
I tend to agree with the idea that one race didn't mutate to eventually result in a variety of races. Instead makes more sense to think the first groups of humans that appeared on earth, had already evolved with those traits present within each group.
the difficulty of finding a marriage mate is well known for sisters.
but i would say it's hard for brothers also.
i was talking to a jw last night.
They include Jehovah as part of a 'divine threesome' as it were.
Well, that's the type of threesome i'll never fantasize about.
lindt chocalate cafe martin place in city people pressed against the glass with hands up...this will not end well..
800 years ago thousands of Christians were behaving like genocidal lunatics.
I'm ok with this. 800 years ago people were rubbing two sticks together to make fire as well. We've come a long way since then. Unfortunately we share the planet with civilizations that still live in that time period. These backward civilizations are threatning our way of life by trying to impose their ancient dogmas on us. It's not bad enough that they are stuck in that time period, but now they refuse to let us, progressive civilizations live the way we choose to live. How is that fair?
my mom today said the brother behind the children's annimation used to work at pixar.
is that true?
if so, can anyone confirm it?.
My mom today said the brother behind the children's annimation used to work at Pixar.
