  Beefing up my disaster preparedness to protect family

  i've been getting some new toys and also utilizing my old ones a little better- i now have a 1000 watt inverter that connects to a 12 volt car battery which in some ways is better than a generator because you don't need to worry about keeping fresh gasoline and trying to stockpile it.

  i have a 3'x3' 30 watt solar panel that can charge one or two car batteries also so it will create a limited but never ending power supply to complete this little chain.. .

  also i built a simple rack in my garage this weekend for my two guns, (12 gauge and a .22) so they are easily available but secure bc they have trigger locks and the key is now right on my regular keyring.

  Preparing is good. I like the idea of a water filter.

  If we get to the point of not having a water supply that means that things are so bad that it's basically everybody for themselves.

  We would only need a moderate disaster for looting to happen almost immediately, so it would be very hard to get supplies at that time. Supply chains would collapse. Once there is nothing else to loot from the stores, people would turn to robbing each other, home invasions are probable to steal supplies. It would be here that a gun might be necessary.

  The lucky ones will have a home many miles away from the cities, as urban center would turn into chaos pretty quickly.

  I usually eat a whole chicken when I sit down for a meal. Along with salad, fruit, a drink. And that's when I'm watching my weight.

  Now we know you are American. No offense ( I am too), but this type of food indulgence is such an American thing.

  The reason this possibility should be taken seriously is because we have no rational explanation for why or how a physical event can cause a feeling or a thought.

  We might not have a rational explanation but we do have evidence that physical events do cause thoughts to arise. In fact, this has been measured in experiments that actually reliably document decisions between option A and B in the brain before the decision arises in a person's awareness.

  The Evidence of Human Evolution keeps getting stronger and stronger

  despite the wt's and young earth creationists' teachings against human evolution (namely macroevolution from non-humans) being a reality, the evidence of human evolution keeps getting stronger and stronger.. consider for example two science news articles and one other science article, each pertaining to the fossil that is nicknamed "little foot".

  Right. I can also produce someone who has a PHD that thinks sticking needles in your skin will cure cancer.

  This hoaxster Sanford is a fraud. His book Genetic Entropy has been debunked point by point. You see this is the problem with people that come to this forum debating evolution with people that have marginal knowledge about it.

  Why not go debate the entire scientific community on this subject instead of coming here? Surely the chance of getting a Nobel should be enough incentive.

  Still wasting time in 2021 trying to discredit something that scores of scientists building upon the work done by previous generations have confirmed beyond any shadow of a doubt. How silly.

  Says who? This is what I actually question to existing JW's. I know their game is to position Jdubs as the religion that follows the fairy tale book closely, but I rather take a step back and question if the Bible is the truth.

  If you ask them how they can prove the Bible is the word of god, they get stumped. A few will try to grasp at straws about some prophecies in the Bible, but even then, when you analyze how vague those prophecies are, that cannot be used as the basis for thinking the Bible is inspired.

  Asian hate crimes rose from 49 crimes in 2019 to 122 in 2020, an increase of 149 percent.

  However, something needs to be said about what is counted. Now, perhaps most of us think Asian hate crime means that obviously an asian person was hit over the head with a baseball bat. But not really. Any minor crime that has a sniff of intolerance against asians is counted (graffiti , etc). And yes those are wrong too.
  

  If you view the words of people in this thread and others they create there is a deep disdain for most things black., the vitriol directed at this one group I particular is obvious.

  Perhaps true, but this is exactly the type of backlash that happens when the woke mob and corporate media distort the truth and demonize white America, while pretending black folks are oppressed. Eventually people back into their corners.

  Everybody can see the connection between the black community and the crime levels. I watch this show called "first 48" which is about homicide investigations, and 8 out of 10 stories are about black on black homicides. No worries though, I'm sure the mob will try to cancel the show soon to keep the narrative alive.

  it's pretty easy to see how current events would have any jw convinced the end is imminent, but i just don't see how there could be a major push for zealous service, pioneering, etc.

  decades into the future.

  even if (when) world events happen periodically that could scare the r&f, there are now countless hours of hd video of jw leaders saying how close the end is.

  I have asked this to myself. Surely, in 30 or 50 years, Jdubs will realize that all of this urgency has let to nothing and will wake up, right? Well not so fast.

  I then have to remind myself that they have been doing this for decades Even if a generation dies off without seeing anything that was promised to them, the new generation coming up will follow the same path with the help of some recycled beliefs and some tweaks here and there, they can also be convinced the end is just around the corner.

  Go Bag and Catastrophes

  i live with my parents in law and yesterday, my mother in-law was very nervous about an email she got from the brothers in her congregation.

  it was asking if she would be able to receive people over at our house should there be a catastrophe.

  so, she asked me if i would agree with this.

  they live on this fear mongering. I remember when I was in every so often, there were these warnings as if something was about to happen. The only way they can keep things going is keep people hanging on in fear.
  I bet the extraordinary thing is that in-person preaching will stop. I really see that happening. Think about it, all the upside is there: Sit home and write letters while you count hours. The org gets their hours. Contributions are coming in, and JWs don't get confronted at he doors.
  Being a JW today is easy.

  Don't think so.

  He would get plenty of votes, but many associate Trump with unrest and division so I think DeSantis really has a strong chance of winning. I completely would vote for him, and I think he would cruise to a victory.
