  in one form or another i've been a member of this site for almost 10 years.

  in the past this was a great place for debate, news and support for ex jws.

  i logged on several times a day and posted several times a week.

  I'm not so sure. This is, after all, an ex-JW site. Once you get past the idea that an all powerful being is going to organize life for you, politics becomes much more relevant. It matters to ex-JWs infinitely more than current members.

  We agree that this site is mostly for ex-JWs. However for the curious active Jdub that visits, they are really not interested in political discussions, there are zillions of places for that already. They are looking for perspective on JW crap.

  I took a look at the active topics , and it does seems there are quite a few political discussions and curiously they get the most attention, which says a lot about the interests of all of us.

  Especially when you consider that for many questioning Jws this site may be the first they click on. If it looks to be mostly a political place then they may just click out again and who knows if they will click elsewhere to get the help they need?

  This is not a bad point actually.

  I think the issue is that many of us have left the bORG several years ago, and as the years go by, we begin to care less about it. I know when I first left, that's all I could think about, but now not really as much.

  Also I think the bORG does not offer a lot of updates to discuss these days.

  telling people that they can not evict a dead beat renter for not paying rent while the land owner has to pay for repairs, insurance, taxes and a mortgage is such a private property grab.

  so i was listing to the news and in the infrastructure bill there is a part that will tax you on how many miles you drive.

  this is above the state and federal gas tax.

  so now they will control and monitor your millage and tax you on it.

  That is exactly what has slowly turned me against the left. It's the erosion of personal responsibility. The idea that the larger group has to absorb the failure of a few incompetent people.

  A few people drive drunk? Well let's make EVERYBODY breath into a breathalyzer.

  Too many people of one color in prison? Well let's stop arresting them and let them stay outside preying on others.

  Some kids get sad from losing a game? let's give prizes to everybody for playing.

  On, and on and on. Personal responsibility and accountability are gone. Now what's important is to artificially make people equal even when they are not.

  The bottom line is fox news is trying to blame Covid deaths on illegal immigration instead of low vaccinations rates and the constant tirade of misinformation the right wing media is spewing.

  Facts first. There is no low vaccination rates and there is no high death rates. There is a spike in infections, mainly from people who are healthy and will not need hospitalization, nor will they die.

  Nobody is trying to blame covid on illegal immigration. What is being said is that the Biden administration is hypocritical for trying to impose vaccination on US citizens, while not requiring vaccination from people who we can actually demand that from.

  I personally hope that Seattle implodes in misery, crime and violence. All of the good people of Seattle leave and go to actual civilized cities. Let the communists fend for themselves, and make it a model of what happens when you let leftist radicals rule a city. Let the entire city become like Chaz. Then the rest of the country can see what happens when you prioritize wokeness, communism, absence of personal responsibility, law and order.

  And if Portland follows suit, I'm ok with that too.

  Its weird how millions of illegals are crashing the border and screwing us out of our jobs while we have millions of unfilled jobs.

  More nonsense. As if we need illegals to fill jobs in the US. The U.S. triages and rejects tons of LEGAL applications for residency per year. If there are unfilled jobs in the US (which there are), then two things need to happen:

  1)prevent illegals from coming in.

  2) Approve more legal applications for residency. You know, people that we actually know who they are.

  Well it is because people entering the United States illegally would be rather skeptical of registering for something that could reveal there status in the country and get them deported.
  Not that I am the amazing Kreskin but that would be my guess.

  What a load of nonsense. First of all you don't have to register to get the vaccine. Second many of these illegals come in without any documentation at all. They can just say they are John Doe. Third, citizens of this country are afforded the freedoms that the constitution provides. Illegal aliens don't. They can be barred entrance into the country for not having a vaccine.

  dr. leanna wen is currently spreading the fallacy that unvaccinated persons should have vaccines mandated because they are like drunk drivers… they have the right to be drunk at home she says, but wanting to be part of society at large without being vaccinated is like driving drunk and putting others at risk.

  besides ignoring the science proving that persons who have had sars cov-2 have natural immunity that equals or exceeds anything that could be imparted from the mrna shot, without the side effects or need for boosters, ( sorry big pharma, you’ll be losing $$$ ) this illustration just smacks of illogical reasoning.

  it reminds me of the borg comparing getting baptized to getting your driver’s license.

  Well let's add something to that analogy. Let's say there was a way to immunize everybody against every effect of drunk driving. And it was free and widely available. So anybody that wanted to protect themselves against drunks could.

  All of sudden you could make the case that everybody that wanted to drive drunk should be allowed to do it, because there is a way you can individually protect against it, and that drunk driver is only putting himself at risk.
