i was wondering if anyone was privy to any insider information about whether or not the society has seen the need to cut back on the meetings to possibly 2 or even just 1 meeting a week?
Exactly Amazing. Not only that remember that with everytime they get together, it's the more likely that they will remember to drop a little something in the contribution box. If there were only 1 meeting a week, and you were to forget to "donate" once or twice, that would be devastating to the WTBTS.
In the end all that matters to keep the Org. in business is the same with any other-$$$Money!

not counting your personal regrets, what was the greatest waste of life and talent you ran across in the organization.. i have 2:.
1. a guy who was a brilliant grand master chess player who gave it up when he became a witness.. 2. a beautiful young lady that i dated (the last i dated) who gave up a scholarship to julliard school for music to study opera and who was working as a bank teller.. can people be prosecuted for murdering dreams?.

There was a singer/bass player in my school band (H.S.) who had an amazing voice.
So much was the case that we played (I played the Sax with the group, he sang) several times at the Apollo theatre in harlem NYC. After our 4th gig there, he was approached by a "scout" from A&R in Sony.
Although we were all excited, he was an aspiring young pioneer who had goals to become a bethelite, elder,C.O. and everything else in the success ladder in the WTBTS.
We were good friends, being that we were both witnesses and all. Although the rest of the group was highly upset at him and tried their damndest to convince him to take the contract, he would not budge.
I felt like telling him also to take the deal, but I was supposed to be the one to "stand by his side" being that I supposedly had the same goals.
Our music theory teacher, Mr. Benjamin was so upset that I don't know how he even continued talking to us.
Oh well, could have been in the "big league" but thanks to the Borg. , I had to settle for waking up at 6 on Sat. to go out and do "street work".
Damn,.... now you got me all upset.......

I have actually been struggling with that issue. Do we actually die in the sense that we were taught being a JW, which means no consciousness and that death is final, unless we get resurrected?
This point, can be as most of you, can be argued with the Bible. Whether it is the correct interpretation or not it can be used (the WTBTS interpretation) to convince many people. Heck, there was a time that it convinced me. To say not would only be a lie.
Or is there some type of life after death where we can "watch over" our loved ones and hang out in heaven and just chill in this "other" type of life or consciousness?
I'm aware of the different texts in the Bible, which can be used to prove that we all go to heaven, but still I'm not convinced of either interpretation.
What do you guys think?

HA,HA,HA,HAAAA,HA,HA!! Thats when the elders should act? First of all everyone that disagrees with the Org. is labeled dogmatic, thats what gets good people disfellowshipped or ousted, in their presence or not, like was the case of Exodus.
Secondly the WTS admits that the elders are untrained personnel. What, are they trained to deal with SOME things and not others ? Let's see: If GOD supposedly placed these holy men in those positions, why aren't they able to handle all situations?

Boy, that's pretty small of them. You say "thats when the elders should act". What to proceed with a JC? or are they actually going to try and help the brother understand that he is wrong and the WTS right? Act in what way? Are they actually going to sit down with a brother and try to explain all these allegations such as the pedophile issue, 607, blood,etc?
Inother words people, Arg is right, the elders will act, but in the only way they know how: Remove this APOSTATE from the Cong. before its to late and we start losing publishers which will make us look bad for not "taking care" of the flock.

this is my first time so i hope i don't sound too pathetic.. my situation is this: i am not a jw, but i am in love with a girl who was raised a jw.
we've been together for 4+ years and i would like nothing more than to marry her.
she has been what i guess you'd call "inactive" for almost two years, but i don't think her convictions have weakened any.

I was in the "truth" ever since I was about 3. My mom use to bring us to the hall although she was not baptized. When we were old enough to walk to the hall ourselves, we did.
So Have the JW upbringing. What did it for me was the 607 issue.
Jw foundation lies in their belief that Christ return to rule invisibily in 1914. They get this by a series of calculations that start with the destruction of Jerusalem in 607 bc.
The catch is that all news and history sources say that this destruction actually took place in 586/7 bc and not 607.
You can look it up in all encyclopedias and you will see. Most JW will say that that is apostate info. and won't pay any attention to it. Thats the way we were trained. That even though everyone in the world says one thing and jws alone say another, the Jws are right. The fact that everyone else in the world thinks diffentely just fuels their belief that they are the "only true religion" and that they "have special knowledge" of Gods things.
Now how you will break this to her is another story. The way it was broken to me was that a fellow witness just asked.
He said: " Hey Patriot, why do all the encyclopedias and news sources that I've looked at say that Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 bc and we (jw) say that it was 607?"
That got me so I promised him (being a "mature witness" ) that I would look into it. I could never find any proof of the WTBTS allegations. After that I told my wife and went down the list.
So just ask her straight up but with a concern like that your actually interested for YOUR knowledge not for her to "stumble".

Those brothers and sisters have to be asking themselves why the society would sand their goons after you for those supposed allegations.
Funny thing about it is that when the elders decide to announce that you have been disfellowshipped, the congo. will already know. I wonder if they will even bother announcing it now that everyone knows already.

Thats alright, they were the cowards this time.
One thing that you did not mention to everyone here is that you did not even get to GO to the Judicial Comm. They interviewed additional witnesses and even made a date to meet with you, but you informed them that you were going on vacation for 2 weeks this month. Then when you came back, this is the decision that they took in YOUR ABSENCE!!!!!
I hope that every "loyal" witness hear can see how underhanded and sneaky this Org. is. This brother was not given a chance to question the witnesses against him or to accept the counsel given by these elders or to "repent" from his actions.
Even though these are clear guidelines outlined in the elders manual and partially in the organized book.
So the question then is: Why did they rush to hush up this brother? Why weren't clear guidelines followed? Why wasn't this brother even present when they took this decision? Now he's disfellowshipped for apostacy?
Well loyal JW's just remember that if you have the slightest doubt or question about any of the Borgs teachings then this is also you fate: A quick and silent death in order to take away any chance that you have to keep talking to others.
But he that laughs last does laugh best, you see one of the reporters from Dateline have been following this case and will now mention it in their special and show how when you question certain "rules" including the harboring of pedophiles, then you get shup up and fast.
