  DC theme any year

  first of all , may i wish you all a happy new year.. in response to obaracs earlier thread, i think it would be amusing to list all the dc themes that we can remember.. it would be interesting to compile them in excel and amusing to see the irony in them over the decades.. so what themes do you recall, and from what year?.

  Active JW understands flaws in WTS doctrine but believes in the Bible

  perhaps this is a common topic for newbies on the site, but i have browsed for a while and not seen this exactly answered.. as an active jw who understands the flaws in wts doctrine, but believes in the bible, how do i identify a form of worship that meets all the criterea:.

  1) by this all will know you are my disciples if you have love among yourselves (john 13:35).

  sure i know that not all jws do this, and that people from other religions or non-religious people do this also, but as an official doctrine jws will not kill one another in war, and in general there is a genuine effort to exercise "agape" love not widely found in the world at large.. 2) preach the good news.

  I thought about this same question long and hard, and prayed, on my knees, about it. I have come to the conclusion that all organised religion , above say "House Church" level , (and even there lies danger) is in existence because men invented it, and for the benefit of men, women don't get much of a look in really.

  God, it seems to me, does not have an organised religion, men do.

  Several of the groups mentioned by other posters fit your criteria, plus the Christadelphians, who are very similar to the JW.s in most areas of doctrine.

  But to join any such group is to go out of the frying pan and ........

  There is no hurry, why not pray about it, take plenty of time to research on here and elsewhere on the Net etc into all that you believe at present, as JW's we never had the chance to do that. read everything with an open mind, not with WT goggles on, especially the Bible.

  Look at alternative points of view that you would not have considered before, they may be false, but at least you will have proved that for yourself.

  Atheists, Evolutionists, our Homosexua friendsl , all are capable of speaking truth and wisdom, many speak rubbish, true, as do all members of society, but keep your mind and heart open. Whatever the source, if it is truth and wisdom, accept it.

  You have taken a large step on the road to freedom of mind and heart by joining here, and by looking for answers, do not throw that chance away by closing down your mind and heart as you become entrapped in another man made system of thought.

  Are there ANY Bible prophecies that indisputably came true?

  i mean a prophecy made before the event, with specific detail that can be verified in history books.

  nothing vague like 'reports of wars'.. .

  Kingdoms come and go, you don't have to be a very good oracle to predict the demise of a kingdom.......eventually.

  Moab was prophecied against too, the problem with these prophecies is they are set within predictions of the triumph of the Israelites, and the Jewish nation ceased to exist before the demise of Moab and (the city of) Babylon, oops !

  We must look harder for a real Bible prophecy that came true, strange ,if it were the "Word of God" it should be peppered with them.

  Am I still an Ex JW?

  i was thinking the other day about being an ex jehovahs witness... will i always be an ex jw?

  will i know when im no longer an ex jw?

  what can i do to become less of an ex jw and more of a normal person (whatever that is)... for me, being a jw was a little like a cross between the firm and hotel california where i feel like, at any point, one of the friends will spot me and either accost me or report me to the elders.

  You cannot change the past, it happened. You are no longer a JW, so you are an ex-JW. Facts.

  What matters is how you feel inside, and how often you look over your shoulder. If you really do not give a poop what any JW thinks, family or not, and live your life exactly as you want, openly, then you are an ex-ex-JW, or XXJW.

  Until then, you are an XJW.

  Ah ! One day ! We shall be truly free !

  An Elder was talking about this subject some years ago, and he was of the opinion that masturbation should be a DFing offence !

  Mind you, he ended by saying "I suppose they can't make it a DFing offence, they would have to DF all the guys at Bethel, they're all wankers !"

  He was one Elder who regularly made me laugh, a bit unconventional to say the least.

  You still need to bear in mind Terry's sage advice, they will wriggle and use smoke and mirrors to prove that the plain words of scripture do not mean what they say.

  Chop off the legs of their argument as Terry says, then you will stand tall in the water with your axe, they will not be able to stand, and have no axe anyway !

  i found this site hoping to read topics submitted by jw's so i could learn more, but it just seems to be everyone else here except them.

  just about every topic and member is just bashing jw's and their teachings.

  this site should be renamed "jwbashertrolls.net".

  I spent have much time reading on this excellent site, archived threads, and all of so-called Trthskr's points have been demolished so many times on here that I am amazed that you guys have the patience and compassion to try to correct the false arguments yet again, well done !

  Those new to the site, of an honest heart, will see who is speaking the truth.

  Yet again a Troll has kept our attention for many pages !

  Putting together a brochure that debunks the "Memorial"...

  with "memorial season" just around the corner, i am planning to put together a small brochure (or maybe just a plain-looking document on letter-sized paper) that exposes the embarassing fact that jws still hold their "memorial" every year even though, by their own teachings, they should have had their last one in 1914. i plan to give it to the next elder who stops by to "count his time" during memorial season.

  but hopefully, this will happen before they start canvassing my neighborhood since i plan to distribute it to my neighbors as well.. i've just started this morning with the following "quick draft" (but i would appreciate your comments and insight... thanks):.

  jehovah's witnesses, why are you still inviting people to "the memorial"?.
