latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

Here in the U.K the real death toll has been calculated as in excess of 40,000 (see the F.T) . The problem this terrible Government have, is that if they ease our partial and largely ineffective Lock Down, they will be held responsible for the subsequent deaths, which probably are more attributable to their previous total cock up in dealing with this from the start, but they don't wish to shoulder responsibility for any of it.

They will probably ease it slowly, whilst urging " Social Distancing" in the vaguest of terms, and then blame the Public when it all goes Tits Up.

The Tory supporting rabid Right Wing amongst us will still try to convince us they have " done the best in the circumstances", which is arrant nonsense.

A good argument mrquick ! of course the whole JW attitude to things Pagan is without logic, and is as usual hypocritical or perhaps at best, very inconsistent.

Surely if Jehovah disagreed with things with a Pagan origin they should not use the names for the days of the week, even marriage itself is of Pagan origin, they did it first ! and a good number of things associated with a marriage ceremony, we all know about them choosing to ban confetti, but what about the Veil ? You and I could list plenty more I guess.

The problem is that J.W's and Facts, Logic, Consistency and Honesty do not go together. Obviously their god Jehovah has the same lack of intellectual honesty, and lack of consistency, yet the Scripture tells them that he does not change ! The longer one is out of the Cult, the weirder it seems, but also it is very very SILLY !

This is, as you say BB, the figure for deaths in Hospital, so deaths in Care Homes and the rest of the community take the total up to, it has been estimated, around 40,000, maybe more, we have no testing to speak of, so how many die in the community we cannot know.

I think it is a danger to perhaps read too much in to a daily or weekly figure, I think within two or three weeks it is possible we may see the figures going up, people are incubating it, without symptoms, and with people entering the U.K, from all sorts of places, some hot spots, with no testing, or follow up scrutiny of their health, the disease can be spread exponentially, and numbers go up a lot.

I hope I am wrong, I hope our partial lock down may be working well, but I am not overly optimistic.

Maybe this is helpful to see where our NHS in the U.k is, in comparison to others. Spending on Healthcare as a % of GDP does not tell the whole picture, U.S.A spends far more than we do for a service that does not work for all.

Regardless of how good or bad our Health Services are, this Covid19 virus has been a huge challenge for all, and is a warning for all Nations to prepare as best they can for the future.

Why did Jehovah choose the leaders of the WTS who were scripturaly apostate false prophet sinners ?

quite the contravening question to contemplate for any self avowed devoted jws, which no doubt takes some uncomfortable thinking to consider.. yes back in 1919 the then president of the jws j. rutherford proclaimed that the organization (ibsa, jws) had been selectively chosen by jesus for their unique preaching and evangelical work.. there had already been a proclamation by the past leader of the (wts) ibsa c. russell that he was the faithful slave doing the lords work, will and purpose, but his professing doctrines were also false bible interpretations based upon the theology of pyramidology.. might it be that these men made these proclamations out of the intent of self validating themselves and the literature that they had published and were trying to proliferate ?

making these kind of claims was easy since there was no higher governing body to evaluate these men's endeavors from a theological standing, the american government had opened the door for any individual's self expression of a religious nature.

so anyone in that country could build up their own religoius following unimpeded, even more so if that religion was christian based.. so the real critical question remains how or why would jesus pick these men when their doctrines were so obviously false and probably devised more so from a commercialization agenda ?.

Ray Franz said in one of his books, that based on what the Rutherford Bible Students, later JW's. believed in 1919 it was "an insult to Jesus Christ" to say that he chose them. I agree with Ray.

I agree Simon, the NHS is far from perfect, well that is an understatement, it is, frankly, mismanaged. This is not the fault of the front line Staff of course, but, despite your two year old graph, the Service has been cut, under funded, I still stand by that, relentlessly for decades, under a " Labour" Government, but really harshly since 2010 under the Conservatives.

Huge savings could be made by getting rid of the crap Management, and employing people dedicated to delivering the Service as it was envisaged in 1948. Yes, the money invested as a percentage of GDP may have to increase somewhat, but the Management I refer to are a hindrance to running an efficient Service, fit for purpose. Most have been employed to simply carry out the cuts. And these people are hugely expensive.

" Lock down" is not what we are really in Cofty, a real lock down would protect our Borders, we also went far too late in to the mild, half-arsed lock down we now have, even Starmer , the Leader of the so-called Opposition, said this in Parliament today.

Too little, too late is what our Government have done, and criticism is not uncalled for, if they were allowed to get away with it, they would not even bother to do the pathetically little they are doing, the provision of PPE has been woeful, this is all a result of ten years of under funding the NHS, of ignoring the recommendations of the Pandemic practice run carried out in 2016 which Jeremy Hunt IGNORED. It said, Prepare, build up stocks of PPE, Fund the NHS,... he did NOTHING. The Conservative Government took this decision.

Their record is indefensible, unless you are blinded by the propaganda that comes via the Right Wing controlled Media. Mind Control, similar to that employed by the JW's, is used by such media, lack of information, a dearth of truth, and people, they know, will swallow the crap they are fed, and Vote Tory. Well, they, and sadly all in the U.K, are reaping what they have sown.

Why do Jehovah`s Witnesses Shun fellow believers When God and Jesus never shunned even Satan ?

scholars generally agree that it was written between the 7th and 4th centuries bce, with the 6th century bce as the most likely period for various reasons.

the book of job .. so according to jw`s about 6,000 years ago satan rebelled against jehovah god ,did jehovah disown him there and then shunning him ?.

apparently not as we can read from the book of job centuries later that satan could still come and go freely before the throne of jehovah in heaven .job 1: 6. and apparently he could still do this for centuries later ,that is coming to and fro before jehovah because according to the jw religion he wasn`t cast out of heaven for another 2,000 years until the 20th century .. now in the case of jesus much of what is said about jehovah and satan also applies to jesus before he came to earth.. but even when he was on earth he didn`t shun satan either in fact he allowed satan to lead him around according to the bible account.luke 4:13 so the devil having concluded all the temptations retired from him until another convenient time .so it wasn`t jesus calling the shots here it was satan .. mark 1: 13 he ,jesus, also shared 40 days in the wilderness with satan letting him tempt him .. so their was no way either jehovah or jesus ever shunned satan the devil according to the bible writings.. and when jesus ascended to heaven after his sacrifice he along with his father jehovah still had association with satan the devil until he was cast out of heaven 2,000 years later ,according to the jw`s..

The only reason for the DFing thing is Control. It is on extremely shaky ground as a practice if you read, IN CONTEXT, all the Scriptures they "base" it on.

But it is beloved by the G.B as a control technique because the pull of family is strong, and it more often than not stops any of the TTAT getting to the J.W's, even people like me, merely faded/inactive, refrain from discussing religion with J.W's, because a DFing is always a threat. Control, Control is the G.B's Mantra.
