Do You Love The Country You Are In or From?

most people over the generations have taken pride in their heritage, nationality and country they are from.

it’s not uncommon to hear of “proud” italians and proud irish people , as an example.

are you proud of your country and your nationality or do you feel shame or indifference?.

I love the Countryside, the open spaces, the forests, the moors, the sea shores of where I live. I was born in England, I find nothing to be proud of in my Country's History.

I am ashamed of what it has become in recent times, it has allowed Xenophobic Racists to give vent to their nasty ideas and feelings, because the Government itself fosters these things by being Xenophobic and Racist and those in Society who would have hidden this dark side to their character, now feel O.K with giving full exposure for their feelings and beliefs.

There are many good people here, many who feel the same shame as me, let us hope we eventually are able to get a Government that reflects our values of being Humanitarians, who are part of one Race, the Human Race, and part of a Nation that needs to co-operate with other Nations to tackle the problems the World faces.

Go Bag and Catastrophes

i live with my parents in law and yesterday, my mother in-law was very nervous about an email she got from the brothers in her congregation.

it was asking if she would be able to receive people over at our house should there be a catastrophe.

so, she asked me if i would agree with this.

From memory the Gospel writer tells it that there was some doubt among the eye witnesses as to what Jesus actually said, so analysis seems a bit silly.

If these words were actually spoken by Jesus, then Pistolpete's explanation makes sense.

The Poster "waton" above points to the real nature of the Gospels, i.e Fictions to make it seem that Jesus fulfilled what the Gospel Writers perceived to be Messianic prophecies in the O.T, and which, in the main were not of course.

reason being is because i could argue that being all knowing and all powerful is not a prerequisite of being "good".

yet i'm a firm believer that "something didn't come from nothing".

What form would this Benevolence take from a Deity that is not omnipotent and omniscient ? merely the act of starting off creation ? or more ?

If she or he is not omnipotent or omniscient and has limited ability in acts of benevolence, then why call her god ?

The other idea you raise is that there must be a First Cause. I agree that there must be something that always existed, before our Space Time Continuum which came into existence nearly 14 billion years ago.

But that "something" has no personality, no consciousness perhaps, and certainly is not a "Creator" as we think of one in an anthropomorphic way.

There is no god.

Kingdom Hall in Barrington, Illinois

i often drive past a kingdom hall in barrington, illinois, where, when i was still a witness, i had visited a few times.

it wasn't too far from the hall i attended and we got to know people from this congregation.. i recently passed it by and it appeared there was a new sign in place.

yesterday i decided to pull into the parking lot on my way home, and it appears that the hall has been sold and is now occupied by seventh day adventists (i did a check online when i got home).

Help needed: Elders should contact authorities immediately if KH are damaged?

hello.. i remember some time ago someone brought up a letter to congregations or some other similar instruction, instructing the elders to "contact the authorities immediately" if something like a robbery or trouble came upon a kingdom hall.. does anyone remember that?

and what was the source of that instruction please?

As we know when in the reign of the relevant king these occurred, other events can be fixed with certitude from those dates.

All of this debate on this Thread though somewhat obscures the fact that regardless of when events in the distant past actually occurred, there is no way to prove that 1914 C.E features in Bible prophecy.

The JW Org constantly harping on about the nearness of Armageddon, and that we are in the Biblical "End Time" has no support in Astronomy, History or Scripture.
