How Do you Count How Long You Were In "The Truth?"

if you were born in, do you count from the year of your birth, when you gave your first presentation at the door, (i was five),.

when you became an unbaptized publisher, (i was about 12), or when you dedicated your life to god,(org) and took the plunge?

what could you have done with all of this time?

Similar for me to t b known's comment above. I count from when I was born in, the indoctrination starts then. And I count to the night I walked out of the Kingdom Hall, looked back and said to myself " I'm never going there again".

I had been mentally out for a couple of years, and inactive for well over a year at the time.

It is an interesting question to pose, as many may be honest enough to count the time they were still mentally entrapped by at least some of the JW beliefs even after they had physically left. Considering it for myself, when I left I no longer believed in any of the Unique teachings of the J.W.s, just some of the beliefs common to all Christian Sects, of course, they have long gone now too!

I am now a Happy Humanist Atheist.

Genesis 18:27

but abraham again responded: “please, here i have presumed to speak to jehovah, whereas i am dust and ashes.. but when referencing the interlinear translation of the old testament, it clearly uses the hebrew word “adonai” instead of “yahweh” in this verse.

was abraham referring to god as “lord” in this verse?.

If you read what Scholars have said about the Trinity Doctrine, in Bible Dictionaries and Commentaries etc, you will see that it is agreed the Doctrine is not to be found at all in either the O.T or the N.T.

Of especial pertinence to this question is the Jewish Encyclopaedia and its entry on this, after all, Genesis is from their "Bible" !

The consensus by Scholars is also that Abraham is a Fictional figure, therefore what he is supposed to have said has no bearing upon beliefs or faith.

a description of the bill says "the resolution also calls for the immediate release of religious prisoners of conscience worldwide.

It is my humble opinion that Article 18 of the I.D.H.R is not well written, it should make it abundantly clear that it is a Human Right to reject all religious thought and practice, to be non-religious and/or an Atheist.

Then two good things would happen, JW Org would have to cease even its devious use of Disfellowshipping, and major trading nations could refuse to trade with those who ignore such a Right.

Note I said " could", usually Greed means they do not do so now, even supplying Armaments and other Technology used in Human Rights abuses, the U.K being a shameful example of this.

But remove the possible "Shunning" from the JW Org's arsenal of weapons and it would help so many to break free.

What Was Your Most Memorable Field Service Experience?

me: selling the wt and awake for 10 cents at 5 years old.

I have a few, but a fond one is when calling on a secluded home in the Countryside, I could see through the Hallway and through the rear door to the garden, a couple were evidently sunbathing out there, after I rang the bell, the lady stood up, completely and gloriously nude, and persuaded her husband/partner to slip on a pair of shorts and answer the door.

I had quite a chat with the guy, a likeable guy, and a thinker, but I did not catch one more glimpse of the lady.

If I had been the sort of JW who actually did "Return Visits" I might have been tempted to try to repeat the experience on another Sunny day.

I was heartened by the comments at the end of the Article where many said they binned the awful things. If JW's read these comments, they will realise how pointless and time wasting their efforts are.

I wonder if anyone, ever, is entrapped in the org by such a letter, and then a visit to the org's Cult-like Web Site ?

I would doubt it.

it goes to show that no matter how hard the governing body tries to instill fear of apostates, it's just not working on the young crowd of jws.. it's a new generations of born in jws--------and they don't buy this shit anymore.

it's really over for the watchtower.

The Internet and modern Cell 'phones are the problems for the Org. The younger generations brought up with both are savvy about their use, and do not have the fear of coming across dodgy stuff, be it Porn or anti-JW thoughts.

Also, because they communicate mainly by secure platforms on their 'phones that Elders can not spy on, they can be a lot more open about their feelings, doubts etc.

The JW Org is without doubt moribund, and the atrophy of the Org will no doubt accelerate from now on, I certainly hope so.

I think anyone under the age of about 45 is now likely to wake up and leave, there will be a few thoroughly indoctrinated younger ones who stay, but other younger ones that stay will be PIMO.

It will not just be an uphill climb for the Org, it will be like when I was young, and certain 1 in 3 Hills could not be climbed at all by the automobiles of the day. The Org will need some new strategies , because if they become just Congregations of the Elderly, the end of the Org is a mere decade or two away.

David Splane's apostate warning convention talk

i know this recent video has been talked about already but i just watched it and here are a few things that got me annoyed as usual:.

splane says that if a bible student says he saw some negative information from apostates and asks us to explain it, we shouldn't look at it or address anything specifically, but instead we should tell them to go to meetings and hear what we have to say about ourselves and also tell them to befriend people at the hall.

for any person with integrity and/or intelligence, this is not a satisfactory answer.

EverApostate makes some great observations above , it was thoughts like those that began my (too) slow waking up.

I am convinced that similar thoughts will stir in many a JW. I do hope so, then this pathetic rubbish Talk with all its Straw Man Fallacies will do more harm than good !

I know it will reinforce the thicko J.W.s in their idea that anything negative is "Apostate Lies" so they stick their fingers in their ears, to that extent Devious Splane will have achieved what he wants, but it eventually means that anyone with an ounce of Critical Thinking skills, several sparking brain cells and a conscience of their own, will have left.

The remaining J.W's will just be pathetic Mind Controlled Zombies.

personally, i have always enjoyed political banter.

i obviously was very careful about not getting involved in politics with fellow witnesses.

still, i always was interested in it.

I certainly cannot speak for other XJW's, but I have become a Keyboard Warrior in the Political field, fighting against untruth and promoting Democratic Socialism, and of course, from the time I left the Org. voting accordingly.

I shall fight for as long as I can for a better World, and for better Governance, where the Governments all are " For the Many, not the Few".

I think it is a Civic Duty to be politically active............... unless you are a Right Wing Moron, then Eff Orf !
