City! City! City!
by Simon inwon the premiership.. won the fa cup.. won the champions league.. that's the treble baby.
so amazing after we spent 44 years without anything.
no more "noisy neighbours".. now let's do it again, back-to-back, and achieve new heights - more consecutive premierships than anyone has every done before would be enough..

American Healthcare: How your system works
by Diogenesister incanada has universal healthcare.
the consensus is that america never will.
can anyone explain why, please?

Many Americans seem to form their opinions on slogans and memes etc. not on facts. Whether they see the system of healthcare that most civilised nations use as somehow "wrong" or not, the simple truth is it will cost them less than half what they are paying now, but will be comprehensive, not selective cover as insurance is.
Are they so SELFISH they would rather pay twice what is necessary just so that someone they deem as not worthy cannot access healthcare ??
What kind of monsters are these people ??

Should be Titled " Love JW org -make Members" to be true. They are worried about Contributions dropping in line with membership.
Making converts in the enlightened West is not going to happen, in the USA it may be a bit easier, religious affiliation is not looked upon as a bit weird there, but converts still must be rare, and the Org's growth will no longer come from the offspring of older J.W's so easily.
The World is waking up, 19th Century Doomsday Cults are so passe.

"I still think letting each state decide for itself has some merit in it."
Yes it does, apart from perhaps very small population States, but the people there could be given the opportunity to pay in to a nearby states system the same as if they were resident, and still take advantage, even if a bit of travel was involved ? maybe ? dunno. (maybe not , Social Care has to be considered kin the equation).
Obviously the ideal is for the whole Country to implement a proper system, then the well known money grabbers like Big Pharma would have to deal with a National buying Agency, with huge clout, an Agency who could buy from anywhere in the World.
But baby-steps could work.

Just did a fact check, average spending in the USA per capita is $10, 948 per annum. In the U.K it is $4,500, less than half !

Is Bible chronology true?
by Fisherman inaccording to jw interpretation of bible chronology, the earliest human, adam, came into existence some 6,048 years ago compared to scientific dating of human fossils believed to be much older.
since jesus validated the creation of adam and eve as historical people and jc’s own lineage is traced all the way back to adam, bible chronology is certified as true and there must be something wrong with scientific dating.
what proves scientific dating as accurate that humans are much older than what bible chronology says?.

" you need to prove that humans existed before when Bible chronology says so and that has not been done."
The degree of ignorance needed to make that statement is STAGERING !

Knew the first two, Bill Bull stuck his nose in where he shouldn't have, in my personal affairs, I took no notice of him, it was none of his business.
Peter Ellis was a distant D.O type figure who ended up in Bethel IIRC. We just saw him on the platform, no personal contact.
I guess all the ones we remember Stan have either died or are out out to pasture now.
Not many were actually memorable.
One old boy I got to know quite well was Albert Broad, decent sort of guy as far as I knew, bat shit crazy wife, loved to do the washing up ! They stayed at our house at least twice, Albert was happy with some Bulldog Ales in the fridge and watching cartoons !

Stan, you must be nearly as old as me and methuselah to remember those names !
I go back to the time of the great John Blaney, he was REAL old school, he was a JW at least by the early 1920's , and had a great sense of humour, which even when suffering from dementia, he never lost. There are so many stories about him and his methods, many apocryphal I don't doubt, but he, in common with a lot of Old School J.W's, was a helluva Character.
They are all Grey Little "Society men" now.

I hope Man City do the treble
by LoveUniHateExams inman united did the treble in 1999 under sir alex ferguson (the best manager in english football - sorry, city fans!
xd).. and now man city are just one game away from matching that achievement.. i'd just like to say that erling haaland is a phenomenon, a f**king goal machine.
this norwegian dude is just 22 years old, and everywhere he goes he scores a f**k-ton of goals - he breaks records.. case in point - his debut season in english football, he goes and smashes alan shearer's and andy cole's 34 premiership goals (haaland scored 36 premiership goals).

I really respect the tremendous numbers of loyal City fans who have never waivered throughout the bad times. Some are sadly no longer with us to see the dizzy heights of where City are today, and a few fans of course are bandwagon types who only recently came aboard, but most have been loyal for many years.
I am not a City supporter personally, but watch their success with interest and admiration.

I find it interesting that after the cult people still hold on to religion....
by BeaverEater inim not an atheist, makes no mathematical sense, nor does the buy(more) bull(shit) god make any logical sense... maybe a deist on my best day, in the end you cannot get something from nothing, paradox if you ask me... but in reality i just dont care.
while in, and moving out of the cult, its like a roller coaster, emotionally, yet, for me, over time, i just take it one day at a time, and if appeasing some special deity is required, well i guess i failed.
lol.

What I find sad is those who see through a particular religion, but still retain some of the plainly stupid ideas that promote fear, and therefore work against such a partially free person actually being happy.
This is not only seen in an XJW who retains a fear of Armageddon say, but can be seen in those who have left other areas of "Christian" faith and still retain a fear of Hell or god's adverse judgement in some way.
Such people need to do proper research, free their minds and hearts , and then be truly happy.
