This, and much much more, is explained in this wonderful, enlightening Book ! This Book has shown me that the religion of the Israelites/Jews was not hardly any different from the other religions.

"Real" they are.... to us, but not necessarily with a basis in fact or reality, if they are only based on Faith or belief.

"we've crossed over into spiritual and mental territory..............."
In other words belief based on faith, which has no basis in fact or reality.

Agreed Tonus, somewhat, there is NO contemporary evidence for a man named "Jesus" who would fit the base figure for the Myths,
Hence why I consider the Thread title to be spot on.

The references to Jesus are all much later than the time he was supposed to have lived, a Century or more, and are only repeating the already established Mythology about him, not reporting historical facts.
I am 100% convinced the Jesus of the Gospels is an entirely a Mythical, Fictional Figure, until I see irrefutable evidence to the contrary.
If there was a man the mythos was based upon, perhaps one living in the later years pre C.E, who was crucified, that is of no relevance to proving the mythical "Jesus".
As the Thread Title says, rightly, Jesus never existed !

Some Seasonal Nostalgia
by NotFormer incan't find any references, so you'll just have to trust me on this one.
i remember, probably at least two decades ago, a small news snippet about someone was going around brooklyn heights and setting fire to christmas wreaths on people's doors.
i've always personally suspected* that it was a bored/semi-insane bethelite.

I always loved Christmas, the family all came to my place, some travelling from overseas to be with us, we had a big traditional Christmas Dinner, and plenty of Booze !
A good number of J.W's that I knew had the "substitute Christmas", presents on another day, I always saw that as slightly hypocritical then, but would not view it that way now of course !
In recent years we have done the full thing, well almost, but big presents for the grandkids, decorations, and even, Shock Horror, a Tree , a bloody great big real one, one year.

JW's face certain death NOW.....
by BoogerMan in...if they openly question/disagree with a current truth from the evil faithful slave - "truths" such as this one: .
w83 10/1 p. 19 - "...a large number of the 1914 generation are still living today.
of course, their numbers are steadily dwindling, and, therefore, sometime in the near future, we confidently can expect “the end” to come...".

The unjust thing about such a disfellowshipping, if what you said was later taken up by the G.B as "Noo Lite!" you would not automatically be re-instated, if you wanted to be. Maybe not re-instated if you requested it, in that you should not have disagreed with the G.B at the time, you were being "Disloyal", why should one be loyal to an opinion by the G.B if it is not Truth ??
If I had loudly voiced my many disagreements with the G.B's opinions ( and that is all they are) over the years, I would have been DF'd multiple times !

Diogenes and Jesus
by NotFormer inthe greek philosopher diogenes supposedly wandered around carrying a lit lantern, purportedly looking for an honest man.
in 1919, the watchtower jesus supposedly wandered around looking for a religion that had "the truth"..

As Ex-Governing Body member Ray Franz said in one of his Books, (I quote from memory) : "To say that they were chosen in 1919 on the basis of what they taught then, is an Insult to Jesus". I would add, also an Insult to our Intelligence.
I rather like Diogenes of Sinope, the First Hippy, especially his dictum that Virtue is best displayed in Action, rather than Theory !

FDS 1919 Declaration Date
by NotFormer indid rutherford have any "prophetic" justification for 1919 as the date that jesus declared him (ahem, the wt organisation) the fds?
such as some calculation attached to 1914?
that in 1919, jesus would come looking for his true organisation?.

607 BCE, and therefore 1914 etc. HAVE been thoroughly proven to be totally false ! and by several strands of evidence !
Not least the Babylonian Clay Tablets that give an undeniable timeline based upon Astronomical Observations at the time they occurred, all, for other reasons than our interest, confirmed by NASA.
The House of Cards that consist of the J.W. Org's outrageous Claims and teachings fell down a long time ago.
