One family, at the time they had only one child, but the next came along and all four of them are still in, the little girl as was (1st child) has grown up and married a dodgy young JW.
I feel sorry that they are in, but I was sincere at the time.

I don't know the full facts of the burning, but if it was as presented by the U.S military, a mistake, and one that is easy to make if you do not read Arabic, it should be excused totally by all people.
Even if it were deliberate, to kill for the burning of a book of doubtful provenance is never justified.
It is ignorance that fosters extremism, we must fight it with education, bomb the shit out of them with knowledge. Not easy to do with illiterate people.

As to the dating thing, "Adam" 6000 years or so ago, Gobbekli Tepe , the oldest "temple" found so far (there may be an older one below it !) is 11,600 years old, and to build it, it was necessary that farming and the domestication of grasses to a wheatlike state, and hence bread, all happened before this !
It only takes one man to have lived before Adam and the whole of WT theology, and many other sects of christendom, falls down, dead.
No "original sin" so no need for a "ransome", no "Paradise lost" so no need to regain it etc etc

in another thread a poster pointed to isaiah 13:12-13, which got me thinking about the expression "the day of the lord".
this appears to have been a term used in the bible with reference to times of divine judgement.

Reading Malachi on its own, it seems to me that he was concerned that the returned Jews were getting fed up with worshiping Yahweh as his promise of glory for them and a paradise on their return had not happened.
He felt that a "Day of the Lord" in the sense of a judgement was close. Matthew and Mark both assert that "Elijah" had come, but seem to see this as a precurser to Jesus coming, hence Jesus' manifestation as the Messiah as the day of the Lord referred to by Malachi.
Matthew was written to establish that lots of prophecies in the O.T were fulfilled by J.C, many of the prophecies so identified by the writer of Matthew are nothing of the sort, and perhaps here is another.

Jehovah's Witnesses - As Objects Of Pity
by metatron ini sometimes have to wonder....... if a subtle transition might take place with regard to the general context of being a jehovah's witness.. a transition away from being objects of hatred towards being legitimate objects of pity.. if this seems far-fetched, consider that some extended witness families have now drifted into having the next generation gone completely or faking it at best.
there are also cases of long term witnesses being accosted by long term co-workers as to 'what happened, i thought armageddon was supposed to be here' (and it's been twenty years).. when you hear a circuit assembly condemn college.... or facebook.... or the internet......or vampire novels, do you ask yourself, "how long can they repeat this stuff?
" i don't think the answer is 'indefinitely'.

A "librarian hermit" might actually have some knowledge of what he was trying to sell, that always helps.
The last time a bunch of them passed by my house, now on the DNC list tee hee, I observed them slowly going from DtoD with unhappy looks on their faces, and as these were all people I knew, I did feel pity for them, trapped in a religion that is on a downward spiral, with a hope that even to them must be seeming more and more doubtful and unrealistic.
Their enthusiasm for what they were doing was down around nil, and this is refelcted too in the fact that the group was very small, and where they used to call here every 3 to 4 months ,it is now 9 months in between doing the map.
They are to be pitied, even a dead end job finishes when you retire, they have to trudge on wearily till they die, seeing nothing for their effort.

I decided the G.B of JW's were illegitimate. Or put another way, were a bunch of bastards !
Once I had left mentally the compelling alternative of the total freedom to investigate everything and educate myself on any matter was WONDERFUL.
I am now a person without relgion, and without faith, as faith is belief in something for which their is no proof, I require real proof before I will trust that something is true.

When Do JW's Start Distributing Memorial Invitations?
by InterestedOne ini saw the threads about the memorial invitations and was wondering when the jw's actually start distributing them to houses.
i want to email my jw friend a question about the invitation, but i want to do it during the timeframe in which they are passing them out.
are they already distributing them at this time?.
