Spot on Cofty ! The point is that they DO NOT preach, at all, the Good News that Jesus referred to in Matt.
End of argument.
What else have they got to convince you now ? two things, not much and sod-all.
so some of my jw friends can't answer a lot of the questions i put to them.
invariably they end up with the comback line of "this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
" and state that jws are the only ones doing the preaching.. i suspect most jws who've left have come across this.

I would not have been so open with my questions, it got me nowhere and I am now treated by my JW family as though I am DF'd or DA'd, when I am simply a fader.
I walked away, it wasn't so much of a fade as a disappearing act, and of course the rumour mill went in to overdrive and most JW's I see when I'm out scuttle off pretending not to have seen me, not that I'm heartbroken about that, but it is awkward for me to know how to, and even if to, approach them.
Fade, say nothing, is what I would do now.
i'm new to this board and looking to see what it's all about.
i'm currently an unbaptized publisher and third-generation jw, so for obvious reasons i can't give my real name due to personal concerns.
so from now on people can refer to me as "jimmy".
Welcome Jimmy, glad to have you with us, and the posts above are full of good advice. We are here to help in any way we can, and to have fun !
When you get time, post some more of your thoughts and your story (without too much detail, don't make it obvious that you are really Jimmy Riddle {Cockney Ryming Slang})
I am glad you are sitting on the fence, as he who does that usually gets the point !
i can't go into details but basically having been off the jw radar for years i'm now firmly back on it.
just recently it feels like i can't move without a jw being in the way!
they are trying a tactic with me which i've seen done many many times when i was a jw myself.
Huggles to Highdose !!
I really feel for you in your situation, for me keeping my mouth shut has been the hardest thing in the past, but I have had to. The love-bombing is so false, and obviously so, because it is only done when they happen to be in contact with you, a true caring friend would put themselves out to come and see you, they never do.
As you rightly say, the whole thing is always on their terms and at their convenience, so ,so, false.
I suggest quizzing them quite hard about their life, how are they coping, what do they find hard, couch the questions as genuine interest, but then you find where the JW life is pressuring them.
If they say something like "We are so busy !" you can say something like I did on the last occasaion I heard that from a Dub "I know, life for a Witness is so hectic, you never seem to have time for yourself , at present I seem to need quiet and peace a lot"
That then stops them pressuring you to go to meetings etc, hopefully.
Just an idea, but have a go back in some way with AWW (AntiWitWarfare)
so thats what my mum told me today.
i've learned to hold my tongue but i was thinking,.
"why can't it?
The sad thing is that people like that do not realise that what is giving them the angst is the religion.
Once you leave the desire for an end to "this System" diminishes as you realise all the wonderful achievments of man, and the potential for marvellous stuff in the near future.
Yes, we still feel for the poor people who are starving, oppressed, suffering the rigours and traumas of war, ill health etc etc but we are now doing what we can to make this world a better place, even as it is, it is preferable to a "paradise" run by JW's.
im just wondering when was the last time a gb went out to preach ?.
I doubt they do much at all, Dto D or street or anything, they follow Rutherford's lead on this, they are: "Too busy with spiritual matters " LOL
when it comes to settling problems with a fellow believer, or perhaps we have offended or maybe stumbled somebody unknowingly, how often has jesus words at matt 18:15-17 been ignored, where the default setting of most jw's is to go straight to the elders.. .
has this priciple ever been 'updated' in later articles?
or would this still be the most valid?.
Yes, especially the "no gonads" bit, we had a lovely feisty sister who would always tackle head on any problem by seeing the person if she thought their conduct fell short, she too had upset some in her time, being outspoken, but she would publicly apologise to the person and give them a hug, she has my respect, she is a rarity within the JW's.
One Elder remarked "She is more like an Elder than most Elders !"
For most JW's it is , Matthew 18 ? Ignore that, I may not get what I want !
yes, i heard that talk where apparently (in my wife's circuit that is) there are 5 times as many pioneers over 50 or 60 than there are amongst the younger people.
there was also 3 or 4 times as many elders and ms's amongst the elderly than there are amongst young people.
the message, parents, friends, encourage your young ones to pursue an education and a career in the ministry.
From Wicki ,reasons why people choose/change career:
" The last data collected by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics through the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth in 1979 showed that individuals between the ages of 18 and 38 will hold more than 10 jobs. [5] According to an article on Time.com, one out of three people currently employed spends about an hour per day searching for another position. [6] The article lists these as the top reasons why people may change careers, based on a survey conducted by Right Management:
§ The downsizing or the restructuring of an organization (54%).
§ New challenges or opportunities that arise (30%).
§ Poor or ineffective leadership (25%).
§ Having a poor relationship with a manager(s) (22%).
§ For the improvement of a better work/life balance (21%).
§ Contributions are not being recognized (21%).
§ For better compensation and benefits (18%),
§ For better alignment with personal and organizational values (17%).
§ Personal strengths and capabilities are not a good fit with an organization (16%).
§ The financial instability of an organization (13%).
§ An organization relocated (12% "
I would say that when looking at the WT as a career all of the above considerations are reasons NOT to choose them as your boss.

I think the above article outlines the good way of sorting out such problems, but as you say, so often the little Dubbies haven't got the courage or honesty to come to you first.
I always think they want to get the Elders on their side before the whole thing comes under the microscope, and usually that means they have got a weak case.
Any Elder worth his salt should say "Have you discussed this with the person concerned ? you know that Jesus says that is the first thing to do"
Then of course, if the person then goes around to another Elder or someone else in the Congregation they are in a bad position.

for chapter 12. available http://www.freeminds.org/history/franz_ad.htm.
what then is the significant difference?
How about a "Failed Predictions" tract that we could download and print from here, once the genius brains on here have designed and edited it ?
We could distribute it to the to public and get them to ask every JW that calls to explain 1914.
