  is anyone prepping by buying food that has a long shelf life?

  i have been messing with it for years.

  buying fat free powder milk, bullion cubes, rice, beans dried, and other things that has a shelf life of 25 years.

  " Sounds like JW paranoia from this side of the pond" , not to me, and I am on the same side of the pond. I have been listening to some top academics and experts in this field, of communicable diseases, and they are saying it may very well affect a large proportion of the U.K population. in which case, the excellent advice in this Thread will prove to be prescient.

  We have nothing to lose by being prepared, stock up on foodstuffs that can be used in an emergency, if it all comes to next to nothing, you can use them as they near their "Best Before" date anyway, oh, and don't forget the Whisky ! that doesn't go off, well it never gets a chance to in our house !

  Languages, Dialects, Accents

  just though i'd start a thread devoted to languages, dialects/sociolects and accents, with the idea being that posters can comment on any language, or dialect or accent of any language, on this thread.. any phrases, expressions or idioms that you find interesting are also welcome.

  first, the subject of english accents came up on another thread.. the british isles have many different types of accent (although many of the dialects may be dying out), and if i start to take a closer look, i can't help but see 'patterns' .... in received pronunciation of standard english, the letter r is pronounced initially, between vowels, and after consonants, e.g.

  red, arrow, break.

  Thanks for Posting that Vid LUHE ! Gaelic is easy on the ear ! and the lady makes a good point, recordings of people in the past who spoke nearly dead, or in fact dead, languages and dialects are so important !

  It was interesting to see you express things as you so ably explained above, " I have not gone to the shop" for example. Different in Gaelic ! I agree with the similarity to the Welsh lilt, I heard that too.

  Taking Control

  to recap: pimo/fading, continually in the process of dis-engaging.. as part of an ever-blossoming departure from the ways in which i grew up and spent a lot of my adult life, i had a moment recently where i took some of my own control back..... let me explain.. one defining moment i had about 8 years ago was when i shredded my "blood card", or dpa.

  i had decided that those beliefs were not the ones i supported.

  it was a little scary, taking that little step, that really only i knew about.. fast forward: recently, as i grow older and need the standard tests that come with age, i had the opportunity to reclaim even more of my independence from previously-held doctrine and beliefs.

  Well done Jack ! Those little steps are so liberating, and good for the soul !

  I never carried a Suicide Card in the later years of being in, but as soon as I had left I went to my family Doctor and got my records amended to say that I would accept a B.T or whatever if necessary at any time. I explained why, that I was no longer a JW, and would accept such things, and he said " I bet you will !".

  Fading was my preferred exit, as I have so many relatives in, and they can still speak to me. I also found it Therapeutic to research all the JW errors, not just doctrine, but even attitudes to things, and to expunge all that from my thinking.

  It is now as though I never was a JW as far as beliefs, thoughts, and feelings go, and it is rather wonderful !

  News Reports are "Apostate Lies"

  with the most recent investigative news report show entitled "the witnesses" i noticed a number of posters whose family members are pimi refer to such shows as "apostate lies.

  " even the governing body (possibly loesch) made such a statement (possibly on jw broadcasting).

  i was thinking of how to reply to such a statement.. first, ask "who is the apostate?

  I think Trey Bundy is an XJW, as is the maker of the excellent drama Film " Apostasy", so be careful with a question like " Who is the Apostate".

  Framing it slightly differently may be profitable, just mention the people involved in the investigations who were never JW's, Zalkin Law, Alastair Stewart the lawyer on the Australian Royal Commission etc. Are any of such people even wrong, in any way ? if so how ?

  JW's have to be forced to face the Facts, and see if they can be challenged in any way, not just use a slogan.

  Thanks Petra,

  just glanced at one Outline, and I see they are as dire as when I refused to give anymore Public Talks, as I could no longer get on the Platform and spout the org's nonsense. Prior to that, I used to "knock the outline in to shape" as I termed it, many an Elder told me, " I give that Talk,and the way you presented it is very different". No wonder, I would say nothing I could not see plainly in the Bible.

  Shortly after, I woke up fully and left for good.

  I think I should have qualified my " those at the top", I was referring to their Legal Advisers , and the Writing Department, who work hand in glove. Those guys, along with their Financial Advisers, know full well it is not "The Truth".

  As for the Figure Heads, the Governing Body, how much they believe, and how much they know is bullshit, probably varies by member. All came up through the ranks, many life long believers, whatever, they must have a great problem with Cognitive Dissonance within themselves.

  I remember well two remarks made to me , one by a London Bethel Boy, who said " The nearer you get to the top of things, the more you realise their is no "Spirituality" there, there is none in Bethel", the other was a guy who worked in the new York H.Q , in Brooklyn, as it was at the time, and he told me, " I pass the Governing Body's Committee Room in my work there, you should hear the shouting and arguments that I hear !"

  Brexit - Fishing is the UK's 'ace in the hole'

  i suspect that the leaders of eu countries which have large fishing fleets are seriously worried/panicking (for their own jobs!

  ) that the uk is going to drastically reduce/eliminate those fleets' access to the uk's rich fishing waters.. the eu knows how its rules and regulations pummeled the british fishing fleets, now it fears that it's their turn to experience the same collapse: .

  "i am not sure that an agreement will be reached between now and the end of the year," mr macron said at a meeting with fishermen in paris on saturday......mr macron also said fishing rights could be a sticking point in negotiations.

  This is proof positive that those at the top in the JW Org know that what they are peddling is not the Truth. And proof that they are aware of the accusation that they use Mind Control, and the truth of that accusation.

  If they had the truth, and did not use Mind Control techniques they could challenge this guy face on, instead they simply use underhanded methods, like this spurious Take Down claim.

  They are a bunch of Manipulating, Lying, Money Grabbers.
