  Apparently, and this may be Apocryphal, but Rutherford struggled long and hard to come up with a new name, to differentiate them from the Bible Students who were still going strong, but were loyal to the teachings of Russell, and not Rutherford's.

  He said it came to him " during the night". Quite how much liquor he had consumed before retiring who knows ? but if he had thought about it, to take a Scripture from Isaiah and apply it to a supposedly Christian group , and give it a name from pre Christian times, was a big mistake which would make the JW's sound weird to all and sundry.

  Maybe he did think about that, but went ahead anyway, not bothering that the new Testament clearly says we should be Witnesses of Jesus.

  Big Cull of Foreign Language Groups and Congregations

  i overheard mrs eyeslice listening to '2021 governing body update 3' yesterday.

  apparently, they have started ditching foreign language groups and congregations as these weren't exactly roping anyone in.

  of course there is a positive spin on all this - '4,000 plus elders freed up to serve in local language congregations' and of course there has been immensely positive feedback from various branches about the benefits of this.. i suspect though there will be an awful lot of elders who were serving as king pins in these congregations who are going to have their noses put out by going back to local language congregations where they will barely be used.

  " Jehovah's Chariot is on the move !" Where to ? to hide in the Wilderness ?

  I think stuff like this MUST add to the Cognitive Dissonance of those starting to wake up. Even when I was a practicing and believing JW, when they used to spin stuff as a " Blessing", or "Evidence we are deep in to the time of the End" I use to think then , " No it isn't" .

  An amusing thing to do if you are prepared to probably waste your time. Especially in this lady's case, as she will not have the required skills to write in such a way as to get past the JW Mind Controlled training that says " oops, opposer, chuck it in the bin".

  JW's, because their minds are strictly controlled, are impervious to facts and evidence and truth. The only way to get through to them is on an emotional level, and that takes usually knowledge of the individual and what triggers them emotionally.

  But emotion is all that attaches a JW to the Org and keeps them trapped inside, so Emotion is the only effective method.

  What police have to deal with

  so, the actions of cops have come under scrutiny in recent days, what with the trial of derek chauvin and the death of daunte wright.

  i certainly hope justice is served in both those cases.. what is easy for people to forget, is just what police officers have to deal with on a regular basis, during their interactions with citizens.. here's a video breaking down one such interaction.. a car owner was driving his car but the tags weren't legally displayed.

  cops wanted him to pull over but the driver continued driving for a mile and a half with a police car following with sirens and lights.

  And their Religious leaders are responsible for not bringing an end to that Culture. They are well known for receiving " New Light" like the JW's, so only have to proclaim that such Crimes will mean a person is Excommunicated ( Takfir) from the community if proven guilty, and it would stop most of them.

  Even here in the U.K people forget what the Cops have to deal with, on a daily basis they risk their lives too, admittedly because of our Gun Laws etc it is mercifully rare that they face someone armed with a gun, though still a very real possibility.

  But they have the absolute Scum, the Lower Sludge Pond life to deal with. And because our various Services have been underfunded for so many years, they have to deal with people with Mental Health and other problems that really should not come in their remit.

  They are remarkably restrained when dealing with some A Holes, very Professional, and we are often given the wrong half of the story. I have seen many people at protests and demonstrations deliberately winding up the Police on Duty. No wonder they get a smack occasionally when things kick off !

  Having said that, there are always within the Police bad elements who simply wish to use their power, and also may have racist or other bad attitudes, these guys are rare, but likely to cause a miscarriage of Justice, or even the death of someone. Bad Apples do not belong in the Force.

  in perusing this site i see info re if publishers are going back to the halls after the covid is "in control".

  some comments are that numbers are dropping - not here... more connected than were actually going to the halls.

  The D.O.E was a man of his time and upbringing and life experience. I think people of much younger generations totally misunderstand his jokes and remarks, to call him a Racist is silly, he is a Royal, and all people who are not Royals are naturally thought of by them as being different.

  But few if any of his remarks seem to me to be malicious, they are not the usual racist tropes, and he didn't preclude anyone from the benefit of his humour. He enjoyed letting a little of the real Phillip show at times, we who have been JW's know what it is like to have to pretend, to always say the right thing, and nothing even slightly risqué or whatever, we should sympathise with the fella, he had hard role in life.

  belgium case will watchtower appeal there shunning case.

  or will they pay fine an accept defeat.

  I think they have already indicated that they will appeal the Belgique Verdict. How far they are prepared to take Appeals remains to be seen, but if they wanted , they could go all the way to the European Court.

  Personally I would like to see them do so, and to LOSE ! This would certainly be a great step forward in getting the Shunning done away with !

  FFGhost the case in Belgium was about Shunning, not about Tax, but you are right, they normally fight all the way to try not to pay Compensation or Tax. And of course maybe a Class Action for compensation by those recently Shunned in Belgium may be possible if they lose their Case. If they are arrogant enough to take it to the European Court, and do lose, the Compensation claims will flow in from all E.U Countries, if such a claim would work.
