  As I alluded to above, I bet some very creative definitions of sharing in some form of ministry are invented !

  Terry, in the other thread on this, has made the reasonable assumption a bit more solid, that $$$ are also behind the move, making proving, in Court, the Org. has responsibility for Abuse within its ranks ever harder.

  I do wonder if Retention, especially of younger members is a reason, 99,9% hate going D to D.

  Perhaps as well , the well justified charge of them being an Authoritarian High Control Group made often by me, and many other ex-JW's, is hitting them. Or they think it is, and they can now say things like : "Isn't it wonderful that our god Jehoober trusts us as his faithful servants to do his work of saving lives, doing us much as our hearts motivate us to do."

  This Control Method of time reporting now having gone for good, I am hoping a relaxing of the Shunning policy follows, that is the now remaining overt Control method that causes people who know about it to reject their blandishments, and rightly label them a Cult. We can but hope.

  " They DO NOT want to show how badly the numbers have tanked." That was my thought as I started reading this Thread, no more will they have to declare someone "spiritually weak" or an irregular publisher, the latter being the important of the two, to them,the G.B, anyone can make an excuse in their mind and say "Well, I said so-and-so to that guy, so I have taken part in FS this month" and tick the box.

  It means that any kind of attempt at pastoral care is gone, how will Elders know who is a keen Witness or is just jogging along ?

  I cannot suppress the suspicion that somehow $$$ are behind this, they always are, with the org. Is it because they can continue to pretend to the World they have a large active membership ?

  sometimes things don't come across the way the speaker intended.. years ago there was an ad by the whitegoods company fisher and paykel.

  they showed them going to great lengths to get customer feedback on what was important to them.

  one customer said that she wanted it to be easy to get her appliances serviced when they broke down.

  One insidious thing they say, the Org. in writing, and picked up by individual JW's is "But where will you go ?" , this is used on those fading away, and is a blatant Mind Control Method.

  In the Org's mind, and that of J.W's you are supposed to conclude there is no alternative to the Cult, but, if you have started to use Critical Thinking Skills you think to yourself things like : " Why should I go anywhere, but just not come here ?", " Of course there are multiple choices open for me" etc.

  It doesn't REALLY mean there are no alternatives, just that they do not want you to make those choices.

  Whatever happened to JW paedo Michael Porter?

  i remember reading about this guy in a national newspaper in 2010 after he had had his trial for child sex abuse.

  porter avoided prison, despite being guilty of some acts child abuse.. the local elders defended him and were on his side and didn't df him, from what i remember.

  then after an outcry porter was was df'd, and i think sent to prison.. anyone up-to-date on this?.

  He got 18 months in jail, after Baroness Scotland had the case looked at again, due to a Public Outcry.

  Referring to the original sentence after jailing Porter on Wednesday, Lord Justice Gage said: "The judge took a course which he recognised as lenient and he described the case as exceptional.

  "We can understand the judge's reasons for doing so. We recognise that the offender has made considerable efforts to ensure he doesn't commit any offences of this type again."

  "But we have to recognise that these were serious offences committed on a number of young children and adolescents over a long time. These offences required an element of punishment as well as an element of mercy. They must be marked with a custodial sentence."

  BUT where is he now ? he will ALWAYS be a danger to the vulnerable, and the JW Org. is a Paedophile Paradise, they have no active programme operating to protect the vulnerable.

  What is amusing about this Story in the Gospels is, it is based upon a mistranslation by the Gospel Writers ! They only understood Greek, not Hebrew, so used a Copy of the Septuagint.

  The Translators of the Septuagint translated the word for "Maiden" in Hebrew, which means a young woman. married or not, as "Virgin" in the Greek !

  Hence, we have the Myth of the Virgin Birth, from some sloppy translating work !

  i see this phrase a lot: "the indication of a cult is what happens when you leave.

  " i'm not sure where that originated, but it is a faulty categorization.

  "cult" is almost always used in a derogatory way.

  My motive in making the point that they ARE a High Control Mind Control Group is to hopefully wake up an active J.W or even two. And to warn members of the Public.

  Every religion is made up by man, upon zero quality evidence, but "Fake" as to J.W's is particularly pertinent, they are a Business, and only care about $$$, they do not care about their members, not one bit.

  Man escapes jail for sex attacks

  Porter was put on the Sex Offenders Register A Jehovah's Witness has escaped a jail term after admitting a series of sexual assaults on children and adults in Clevedon . Michael Porter, an elder in the religion, pleaded guilty to 24 counts of indecent assault and gross indecency on 13 victims aged 18 months and older. Among the individuals were others involved in the faith. Judge Crowther at Bristol Crown Court sentenced Porter to three years of community rehabilitation. Many of the families involved have been completely traumatised Det Con Lisa Finch Porter's sister, Tina Hughes, said: "I am absolutely disgusted. He should not have walked free. "He has lost nothing. We have to tell the victims we have got no closure. He is an evil person. He is not human." Porter carried out the assaults between 1986 and 2000. He was banned from working with anyone under the age of 18 and and put on the Sex Offenders Register. Det Con Lisa Finch, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: "Many of the families involved have been completely traumatised. It has turned their lives upside down." Porter declined to comment as he left court with his wife.He remains an elder in the religion.
